So Mick was a former colleague or associate of the Rogues, and they were told he'd died, which obviously wasn't true. There's a lot Elenore Thawne has been keeping hidden, and Rudy learns at the end of the issue just what's been hidden in a secure-access hangar: what appears to be a spaceship, and possible aliens held in containment tanks. It comes as a shock to him, so there's plenty he doesn't know about the activities at Fort Fox. Question is, what's Thawne up to? It's a decent bet that the Rogues' equipment comes from alien technology, but what exactly were Thawne and Barry trying to do with the aliens? Was it to obtain superpowers, or were they meddling with time (or space) itself? Are the aliens Martians as seen in the Absolute Martian Manhunter book, or are they completely unrelated?

It looks like Mick's experimental treatment went wrong and resulted in a Tar Pit-like creature, and makes me wonder if any of the other projects were also colleagues of the Rogues or they were just unrelated people who were experimented on. Wally manages to absorb Mick's heat and apparently leaves him depowered, but maybe that's just a temporary effect or maybe Thawne will work on him further to return his powers. At least Grodd's watching out for Mick and Wally's willing to help despite his many fears, and Len seems concerned about Mick's well-being…if only because he's becoming increasingly distrustful of Thawne (with good reason).

I wonder if Jesse has a facial difference and that's why they don't want to remove the helmet; the solicitation for next month's issue showed them wearing a face mask before the Rogues got their powers. Lisa used a wheelchair before getting her powers, and Jesse makes a comment about only taking off the helmet when Lisa removes her bionic legs, which suggests both their tech functions as assistive devices. Thawne uses the threat of taking away the technology to keep the team obedient, which is awful of her, but it's already been established that she's something of a monster.

(And you've got to love the cartoony art of Len looking like he's wearing a fake mustache as he yells at Thawne, lol.)

It's kind of funny that Ralph Dibny just met Wally but recognizes him in costume immediately, given comics' long history of people not recognizing friends/loved ones when they're in their secret identity. I don't know if Jeff Lemire is deliberately subverting the trope or it just helps the plot, but it's an interesting touch. Now Ralph and Linda know that Wally's the Flash and the government is after him, and they care enough about him that one or both may try to help…which may turn out badly for everyone, but at least he's got sympathetic allies who know his identity. We'll have to see if Rudy joins their side as he pieces things together and realizes his son's been endangered by Thawne's secrets.

Anyway, it appears that Fort Fox is this world's equivalent to Area 51, or at least someone wants it to look that way. But I'm sure things aren't exactly as they seem.

Poor Mick, and poor Wally :( Wally's obviously got severe anxiety issues, and Mick is clearly suffering from what's happened to him -- hopefully they can help each other and avoid the clutches of Elenore Thawne.

AU where Bart lives with his older brother (Owen Mercer) and mother (Meloni Thawne)

I thought I should translate the other post so here it goes!

I thought about this a while ago, because there isn't enough content talking about these three, who if we stop to think about it would be Bart's main family if it were a world without powers and following the timeline chronologically.

In this image I thought of them as in family therapy, hence the bored and blank expression on the brothers' faces lol

I didn't think about many details about what to put in each one's past, considering what they would possibly live being a family with many family disagreements, for example we have Thaddeus Thawne who would be the grandfather who doesn't like his grandchildren and tried (read: killed) to kill the father of one of them. But I like to think that they are quite chaotic but loving living together.

I wanted to talk more and draw more too because for me it would be very interesting to see the three of them not knowing how to act like any other family. First we have the brotherly relationship between Owen and Bart which I can only explain as being one of love and hate (as all brothers have with each other), but with the exception of one of them resorting to picking up a deadly blade and running after the other with it and actually managing to hurt the other.

second, to the mother who "doesn't know" how to be a mother, I have in mind her going to Bart's school reunion after he got into a physical fight with some boy and when she got there she defended her boy and said that he was right to do what he did and said that she was the one who taught him how to trip someone and break someone's arm (and she really did). She also always let the boy go out anywhere with rules about not going to the police station, taking drugs and getting someone pregnant (even though she knew that her boy was a bit of gay but didn't say anything lol)

Initially this AU would be another bluepulse AU that I was thinking about doing but it changed to this, of course I think about putting Jaime in the middle because I think it would be funny for him to meet his brother-in-law being twice his size and scaring him whenever he can, but I also like to think about giving a good focus to this family that doesn't have any.

Third, Owen would be that son/brother who doesn't like to see his family with anyone, he hates all of Bart's (boy)girlfriends and any man who comes on to his mother. Bart gets angry about this and it always ends up in an argument because the man doesn't accept his little brother with anyone at all.

Their ages would be as follows: Owen 24 years old, Bart 17 years old and Meloni 47.

Jaime would be 20 and it would be enough for Owen to pick on Bart whenever he can (like he almost didn't get together with Kara when she was sixteen. Bart uses that as an argument and always wins)

Meloni is a retired military woman after losing her husband and sister-in-law (Don and Dawn) at the same time and suffering an injury. (I don't really know how this retirement thing works, especially for military personnel, but there you go. I also haven't decided whether she would be retired or on leave, so for now it will be that, but I believe that this won't have much impact on the story)

Meloni has a strong influence on her children (even indirectly) to fight and use weapons. Her hobby is training and modifying firearms. She has some weapons at home and has taught Bart (between the ages of 8 and 9) to use one by shooting cans. Owen built his own boomerang-shaped toys as a child, influenced by his father. He still has them and builds others with blades and firecrackers, influenced by his mother.

At first Owen was left with his paternal grandmother (Betty Harkness) and then went to live with his father and lost custody of him to Meloni who raised him with Don and soon after they had Bart (a bit confusing because the comics show a lot of things so I'll leave what I know and what fits in this AU).

I think I have a LOT to think about if I remember all the details that might cross my mind, maybe I'll make another drawing, for a better visualization of how they put up with each other looll Honestly, it gave me the courage to continue thinking about this AU...

Depends on how much they're into memes! I'm sure the older guys wouldn't know about it until Axel shows them…and after that, poor Mark probably never hears the end of it 😰
