Much as I'm glad for signs of life in the fandom, the HeyKids Archive Wiki lowkey highkey annoys me lol

Like I like the found-family aspect of the "show" as much as the next trauma-riddled neurodivergent queer former weird kid, but the Archive leans into it a bit too much, I think? Like. Where's the unsuitable-for-its-audience nightmare fuel? Where's the writers/actors getting sex jokes and profanity past the censors????? Where's the cosmic horror undertones-you know, the thing that canonically ties Candle Cove to Local 58?! WHY DOES THE SKIN-TAKER GET A REDEMPTION ARC AND ENTER A HEALTHY LOVING RELATIONSHIP WITH HORACE?!

Like, I'm sorry, Candle Cove would NOT have been a progressive-for-its-time, wholesome kids' show that actually teaches the audience life skills and age-appropriate morals, that show would have been what would happen if The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack were made with a budget of $20 and a shoe string and Thurop Van Orman was being tormented by horrors beyond human comprehension and I think we as a fandom have forgotten that.

I know I'm swinging a bat at the proverbial hornet's nest by saying this, but I am very much a mid-2010's Candle Cove fanon truther. That shit should be horror-comedy at best and 'I can't believe they let this air' at worst. It should be dark it should have jokes that fly over the child audience's heads and it should be, dare I say it, problematic.

Hello. Creator of the HeyKids wiki here- It's really not meant to be an overhaul of the CC wiki. It's a passion project and AU. It's not meant to be faithful, it's meant to be fun. The whole thing is just fanservice for myself. I didn't know the thing was able to be found by google search up until recently when a friend sent me this.

That being said, it's not for everyone and that I can get, but I at the same time don't see how complaining about something a small time creator did online helps the Candle Cove fandom in any way. I say live and let live. I believe both versions of Candle Cove have the right to exist and the fandom doesn't need this negativity. It's already small and broken

I’ll probably regret asking but I wonder. In your alternate events au, what will the quagmires do that makes them so evil? Do they still keep there likes, as in Isadora enjoys poetry or Quigley does cartography? I await your response.

Sorry for the late reply. I have sort of given up on this comic for a while... I dont feel like it's going anywhere to be honest. The reblogs are few and far between so it's near impossible for it to grow in its audience. Pages take a ton of time to make and I don't want to invest so much time and effort into something nearly nobody reads.

As for the Quagmires.

They do keep their interests. Just because they are smart, it does not automatically make them less abhorrent.

It's not just one thing that makes them bad. It's a combination of evil deeds they do. In the past, I've described them as 3 Carmelitas but after watching Heathers, the musical I think the most fitting description for them would be:

Quigley is the equivalent of Heather Chandler

Duncan is Heather Duke

And Isadora is McNamara

You could say Carmelita is Veronica in a way, minus the murderous boyfriend.
