WIP Wednesday, kind of!

for @grandthorkiday this year, I really wanted to finally finish the fic I started for it last year, but that didn’t happen because literally everything is happening at the same time this October and also it’s hard to focus on writing in general right now. but then I thought of this older Sakaar fic that has been vaguely on my “I’m almost positive this is practically done if I would just put some time and effort into finishing it (but it’s also totally possible it’s nowhere near as close to being done as I think it is)” list for ages, and I realized it totally fit the definition for Grandthorki, and I thought maybe I could finish that real quick instead!

…I couldn’t. there’s a lot more to this one that needs to be written than I kind of thought, in part because it’s so old I wrote it before Ragnarok ever came out, so it was based purely on the trailer (and then inspired by some speculation by @theotherodinson, I think), and to finish this fic I would first have to decide if it would be more straightforward to just keep going with my pre-Ragnarok speculation or change the setup a bit to fit the film. also I would have to turn a bunch of bullet points into an actual conversation that would have to…make sense? and, like, establish things? and that’s hard even when my brain isn’t busy constantly screaming.

but! I can post most of what I already wrote, just for fun and because at least this is something Grandthorki-related that I haven’t already posted elsewhere! knowing me this could backfire because then I won’t have as much motivation to try to finish it but on the other hand it’s been sitting at this exact level of unfinishedness for like three years so it’s probably not going to hurt.

Loki moved in a soft whisper of silk on silk and the greedy eyes followed him. Thor walked quietly behind, the image of indifference, though he longed to shatter the bones of every leering face.

Or, Thor thought, he had once longed to do that. He had once felt rage and guilt and shame. And now? Had the mask become the reality? All he felt was a despair so deep it took the last shreds of his will to hide it from Loki. To plea with his brother to hang on, to trust him, to believe that Thor would find a way out.

Loki was too smart for that. He didn’t believe in any end but death. Thor didn’t either, but there was a stubbornness so deep in him he couldn’t give up even if he knew it was hopeless. Or was Loki right and it was only fear of being here alone which kept him from giving his brother release?

Loki swayed across the room headed for the bar. He looked as if he’d been drinking already, but Thor knew it was the weakness of starvation that made him so unsteady. He hadn’t eaten anything since their conversation two days before. He also knew Loki had every intention of drinking himself unconscious before the evening’s entertainment got underway. Thor watched without interference as Loki ordered the same cocktail that last evening had him boneless and unfeeling before Thor had half stripped him.

Loki raised his drink, and had taken one swallow when their host spoke from behind Thor.

“Now, now, kitten we really don’t want a repeat of last night, now do we?”

“Don’t we?” Loki said with a ghost of his previous acerbity. He raised the glass to his painted lips again.

Faintly glowing threads of power tether him to the chair at wrists, knees, and ankles, immovable and unbreakable. In the mirror he sees another thread coil around his throat, and then—

Nothing is touching him except the Grandmaster’s magic but he can feel it again, the unyielding pressure of the Infinity Gauntlet bruising his flesh and squeezing his windpipe shut. He struggles, choking. Nothing gets in or out.

He’s trapped. He can’t breathe.

“Now, that’s the stuff,” the Grandmaster says appreciatively. He pats Loki’s quivering chest. “Keep squirming, honeybunch, that’s—well, I’m into it, that’s for sure.”

He looks… wanting. Of course, he may have no choice in the matter. Thor should try to remember that.

Thor washed his hands again. The small brush was well beyond cleaning at this point and was scrubbing into the second layer of skin, soap stinging on his raw knuckles. It was Loki’s thin fingers that stopped him. That took away the brush. That gently patted his bleeding knuckles dry.

“That doesn’t help,” Loki said, his voice flat. “It only annoys him if you hurt yourself.”

Loki’s face was a calm disinterested mask. The first year of Grandthorki Day, I did spotlight fic recs as a countdown in the days leading up to Grandthorki Day! At the time, there were only a few grandthorki fics to choose from, so I could easily include all of them as recs.

Now, however, there are more than enough grandthorki fics to go around. So I need help choosing! ^_^

In order to have your grandthorki fic become one of the five spotlight fic recs for this year, simply message me on loxxxlay or on this blog with your chosen information.

Having a spot for a spotlight fic rec means you can choose:

GRANDTHORKI DAY - OCTOBER 21ST -FANDOM EVENT

What is Grandthorki?

Officially Grandthorki is a subtype of Frostmaster in which the Grandmaster coerces a platonically related Thor and Loki to engage in sexual activities with each other and/or with him. There’s tonns of possibilities where one could take that, so for a more nuanced description, see this post.

What if I don’t interpret the ship that way?

That’s fine! There’s nothing wrong with interpreting a ship a different way! ^_^ However, since Grandthorki was coined for a specific purpose, the above definition will be the only type of content that will be tagged as #Grandthorki on this blog.

If you would like to write a different interpretation, then it will still be reblogged! It will just be tagged as #GrandthorkiB instead.

However, variations of soft!Grandthorki/soft!Frostmaster (where it’s written as not even remotely dubcon/noncon) are not allowed for this event. I’m sorry. Your interpretation is valid; it’s just not worth my time or energy to cater content that I have no personal interest in.

That said, this is a hate-free environment. If you are hateful towards any ship, kink, or person, you will be blocked.

How do I participate?

It’s simple! You can post your content any time on October 21st (UTC-6). Please be sure to tag @grandthorkiday somewhere in your post. If you don’t @ me, then I won’t be able to find your post and I won’t be able to reblog it.

I will be reblogging all content in the tag for everyone interested to see on October 21st (and likely for a few days afterward). If you’re unable to post your content before October 21st, then that is okay; I will still reblog late posts if needed.
