Hi all (or future me)! I want to let you know that today, or any day, time or hour that you see this, that God sees you, hears you and loves you. It may seem like God is a fairytale or too far to reach, but He’s not! He sent us Jesus (physically the son of Mary and Joseph, spiritually the Son of God), who died for us and rose again so that we could have a hope. So that we could be connected to God.

Acts 13:38-39 - 38 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39 Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.

Think about it - Jesus isn’t dead (since He rose from the dead and ascended), so us putting our hope in Him is not mere wishing or delusion, it’s substantial.

11/11/21 - Guest workshop by Dana Giurescu “Rhythm and Play’

Playing around with syncing sound and image. And also to make a slight parody of this clip and old “horror” films of the time (1970s). I personally would never watch a horror film, but this clip compared to what is being premiered today is like something you’d see in a children’s show, so I wanted to play with that.

8/11/21 - Sound Workshop

Before creating this, us students were tasked to go around and capture sounds - exterior, interior, specific sounds or wide sounds (cars, cafe ambience etc).

Then edited it over some footage. When I heard this sound (captured by another student), I immediately thought about windscreen wipers.

1/11/21 - Stop Frame Animation

TEAMWORK

Given the word ‘Extrovert’ we created this stop frame animation showing the bustling environment and extrovert tends to find themselves in, eventually taking in all the energy into them.

To improve, I could try out different symbol combinations for variety, especially where the pattern repeats like on the tape and the tote bag.

Just had to throw in the coloured circles somehow - I really liked them from the previous activity and wanted to incorporate them somehow.

11/10/21 - EMOTIONAL SHAPES

Using shape to reflect ‘sharing’, a key word I identified for my assigned brand Library of Things.

Ideas I had: free motion circles of different colours and sizes = different people of different shapes, colours and sizes amongst each other. Circles overlapping over a quadrilateral = people sharing over a common thing. Grid composition of quadrilaterals = the modular self-serve kiosk found in Library of Things branches.

Library of Things has a great colour palette which look so good in these digital “doodles”.

IMAGES WITH TYPOGRAPHY

(reflecting from the 14th of November) 

for this activity, I really didn't want to depend on technology and thought about ways I could do this by hand. (The activity was to create image using type.) I looked at artists/designers Wolfgang Weingart and Dan Friedman for inspiration. 

For the first 2-3, I just experimented using the techniques I picked out from Weingart and Friedman, making sure to do them by hand. The last piece, I explored ‘sharing’, an essence word I picked out for Library of Things, the brand I was assigned.

Overall, I really like these pieces - they’re graphic and could be even more of a typographic image if I scale up and down and crop different sections (as I did for 1 and 3).

Methods used: collaging and photocopying (1 and 3); tracing (2 and 4). I literally printed out the letters, and traced them over my backdoor window, creating the composition as I traced.

4/10/21 - MARK MAKING TASK

reflecting from the 13th of November, this project reintroduced me to hand crafts; painting, drawing, screen printing and just playing with colours and mediums. I really hope to continue this to expand my creativity, outside of design.
