at the time when anne frank was arrested, she was breaking the law. the people who helped hide her and other targets of the nazis were also breaking the law.
that is where it leads when you justify state violence. “if you didn’t want oppression you shouldn’t have broken the law” is an attitude that leads directly to fascism, and it rings entirely hollow from those who also support a leader that flagrantly violated the law but waived the consequences by virtue of power possession.

At least once or twice a day do i randomly remember of this moment and start begging Condon to not have a romance sub-plot of Benitez falling for Ollie. This borderline (or arguably fully) flirting is making me sick.
If anything looks like it's going into a cliche and shitty direction in this run, you bet that's where it's going.

What the fuck. But what can be expected of terfs right? No readign literacy or any contact with reality for sure.
Discovered another transphobic Roy blog so reminder for Pride- Roy Harper would shoot a terf.

I’m so sick of the only take away people are getting from ‘Snowbirds don’t fly’ is Ollie bad. Please educate yourself on the issues of drug addiction that the comic tries to address. I admit, it’s not perfect, however it does give the reader a harsh look into the realities of how society in general treats addicts. The comic holds Ollie accountable. The reader is not supposed to be put against Oliver, we are learning with him. This differs from the rest of the Green Arrow/Green Lantern run as the reader learns with Hal rather than the character of Ollie who seems to already be educated on the various issues that the run addresses. This is flipped in ‘Snowbirds don’t fly’ which is one of the reasons that makes the issue so memorable. The reader, who has previously relied on Ollie as some sort of moral compass, is now shown that not everyone is educated on all topics. Ollie is not educated on the topic of addiction, neither is Hal. Ollie’s reaction to Roy did not age well however, that does not mean the issue fails to highlight the way addiction can ruin relationships with people said addict are close to. The issue would have failed if Ollie acted emphatic towards Roy straight off the bat as no lesson can be learnt along with the characters. At the end of the comic, Ollie is given a moment of pride when Roy confronts him, realising where he had gone wrong with how he reacted to Roy’s heroin use. Later runs show their relationship to have improved, showing them on loving and understanding terms with each other yet again. Before you call Ollie a bad father, think as to how addicts have often been treated by family, think as to how it was written in a way that the reader had to learn something from the issue. Ollie isn’t a bad father, his reaction was awful but a lesson had to be learnt.

Think of Batman, the first arc of Dark Patterns, We Are The Wounded has been compared to The Fresh Water Killer since it ended.
But back then, Fresh Water Killer had only 2 issues and a prologue.
Now that it ended, the similarities are clearer. The problems in The Fresh Water Killer are tuned down, major differences lie in that it's a Batman comic and who the villain in We Are The Wounded kills.
I had an insane discussion. Someone genuinely saw these panels, maybe read the current arc too, and was like "Nah, he's still rich".

I am not being crazy, right? It's pretty straight forward.

If it was a Batman comic, I would be less bothered by it, still bothered, but it would be easier to get over it. Easier to cope.
But to write this type of story with Green Arrow? We can find more progressive GA stories than this all the way back to the 70s.
I had an insane discussion. Someone genuinely saw these panels, maybe read the current arc too, and was like "Nah, he's still rich".

Turned out they were right. Issue #24 leaves no room to wonder.
But I don't take back my points, I think it's very weird that he's still rich even with all of that and other elements of the new run.
We keep losing not having a proper Green Arrow. Because if he's rich, he's not really Green Arrow.

the problem with being a comics fan is that when you're reading a fic you cant even say "he would not fucking say that" because you are thinking "I know exactly which comics you read that made you think he would say that" which is much, much worse

So, apparently Green Arrow is still rich? Besides all of the giving everything to Connor or/and Roy.
That's a shame.
How can they keep a character like this, as rich?

Big no for Black Canary/Oracle: Birds of Prey and Richard Dragon (2004), the character assassination of characters in them and even outside of them is wild.
Instead:
Green Arrow & Black Canary by Joey Cavalieri:
Detective Comics #553-554, 560-565
- Black Canary Action Comics Weekly stories:
Green Arrow(1988) #7
AC Weekly #609-616,
AC Weekly #624-634
Birds of Prey(2023)
Richard Dragon, Kung-Fu Fighter(1975) (Collected in Richard Dragon, Kung-Fu Fighter: Coming of the Dragon!)
newbie here! im finding it hard to jump into long runs even when i really want to read them so do you have any good beginner short book recommendations? like 20-25 issues or less? any character! the last one i read was supergirl: woman of tomorrow which was only 8 issues. (i will say the only “long run” i have read is batgirl 2000 but that was an outlier 😭)
yeah absolutely!! longer runs can definitely be tough at first.
here’s a list of shorter runs or minis that are probably good starts!! some of these are khtd recommendations that I haven’t read yet myself so if you don’t like one it’s definitely not my fault 🤩 (joke)
- Robin: Son of Batman
- Black Canary/Oracle: Birds of Prey
- JLA/Titans
- Green Lantern: Circle of Fire
- Richard Dragon (2004)
- Batman: The Knight
- Batman/Huntress: Cry for Blood
- Huntress (1989)
- Batman: Orpheus Rising
- Superman: American Alien
- We Are Robin (2015)
- Arsenal (1998)
- Batwing (2011)
- Far Sector
- Batman: Long Halloween & Dark Victory

Also, I'm no superman fan, but calling him Kal-El is insane.
I saw one of your Anon asks say Dinah and Oliver and my brain had to reboot. My brain forgot that he could be called just Oliver for a second. To my brain it's either Oliver Queen (full name, do not seperate) or Ollie, no inbetween.
There's also no Cassandra without Cain right after and there's definitely no Cassandra Sandsmark, that's Cass and Cassie.
Honestly same
Oliver Queen is just Ollie. Not even Green Arrow but just Ollie to my brain
Same with Cassandra Cain/Sandsmark
That's Cass and Cassie respectfully
It's like calling Dick, Richard. Very few people are allowed to do that and it's very weird whenever others try (Ie the new 52 having Barbara call him Richard) if you are Alfred, Raven, or occasionally Damian then it's not allowed.
