wait so do you use sałatka for things like sałatka z kurczakiem i majonezem or sałatka warstwowa też z makaronem or even all of the cooker vegetables salads with like potatoes? in my head they are all salads and they are not made with 80% of greens

yeah i think there's 2 separate Kinds of salads in the us, green salads like u described and then the mayo based salads - potato salad, egg salad, pasta salad, tuna salad etc. but only potato & pasta salad would be eaten on their own, the others are made to be sandwich fillings. of course it depends on where u are regionally the prevalence of mayo, sometimes they veer toward the more acidic side with italian dressing for the pasta salad, more vinegar/mustard for the potato salad, etc (if ur farther from the midwest i assume)

At least in america, pasta salad is generally a side dish, often brought to a barbecue or potluck. So it is cold, because it's usually made before the event, but it acts as a salad since it isn't the main dish.

that's also a crazy definition of a salad... to me a 'salad' is something that's made up of at least 80% leafy greens and vegetables and my opinion will never change
