Set of We the People mitts heading to Texas🤘🏼 I made the first set of these in 2018. Since then they’ve remained my best selling glove. I appreciate everyone who has purchased a pair,or two 🙏🏼 No matter how many sets I make,there is always going to be a uniqueness to each set because they are made one set at a time. Even more,no two cuts of leather will ever be identical. They will be made even more unique by how often you wear them. How much or how little you put a coat of mink oil or beeswax on them. I personally kind of like the way the gloves look when they get a bit more dry and sun faded…but,I also love to see how much depth comes back out when a moisturizer or conditioner is applied. I guess my biggest point of this post is to say…. I can’t believe I still love making gloves 😂 I never planned it. Never thought it would last. Most importantly: I never would’ve thought I’d make some of the friends I have because of it. To those friends… Sorry I’m such a shitty friend 😂🤘🏼 Seriously…. Custom set of Carpe Diem mitts heading to Austria 🤘🏼 Thanks again for everyone’s patience on letting me get your orders out. Most orders these days have some custom element to it that takes a bit longer to get them out. I also wanted to touch on something I’ve addressed before,but still get asked about a decent amount. Glove fitment: I have a few different size charts in past post,but my gloves are standard American sizing. Also,the gloves are going to fit you better the more you wear them. The sweat and heat from your hands will make the gloves mold to your hands,in the same way a baseball mitt becomes unique to your hand over time. There are ways to artificially stretch or shrink gloves if you’re impatient. To stretch a glove to your hand; Use a tea kettle to bring water to a boil on the stove and allow the steam to go inside the glove. No need to WET the glove. Just enough to simulate sweat. Allow the gloves to cool for a few seconds and put your hands inside the glove,and wear them with a closed fist until they’re dry. Repeat as many times as necessary,allowing the gloves to dry completely in between sessions. Stretching leather is much easier than shrinking. Shrinking gloves still requires steam,but from the outside of the glove. Just put the glove on and hold away from steam far enough where you won’t burn yourself,but enough to lightly dampen the area that needs to be shrunk. Then,use a heat gun or hair dryer to focus on the area to shrink. Never leave the heat gun in one spot too long or it will over shrink way too fast. Just keep it moving,and if the heat gets too much apply more steam to act as a barrier from the heat. Stretching or shrinking fingers or thumbs is the same process,but I wouldn’t recommend shrinking glove fingers. The fingers will naturally shrink through wearing when the creases are created from closing your hands. Hopefully this made sense,and helped someone out there. Little in progress pics of a really killer set I was asked to do. These are going to get green dye,so I wanted to post them before. Getting asked to do a portrait of a child is always a little stressful. At the end of the day I have to remind myself it’s just art. If I mess it,and start over. That’s been a hard lesson for me to apply to my life,though. I’m very grateful for the people who’ve stayed in my life,in spite of all of my problems.
