Edgar Appreciation post 🫶

While I love all the Crimson Mirror characters, I will say the only real reason I just cried like I did, watching the end was because of Alexander Ward's absolutely fantastic acting. Out of literally all of the characters from Candela Obsura, Edgar was the one that felt the most alive to me by a far shot.

Even when the spotlight was not on Edgar, even when we didn't actually fucking know exactly what Edgar was doing, Alexander was acting. If you looked away from whoever was in focus and looked at him, you could see him acting in character, checking his watch, being conflicted at the weapon he found at the church, so on and so forth. Of course, he at times is out of character, but a lot of the time he is locked in.

Similarly when Liam was setting the scene, or the tone, Alexander was in character, he was acting like Edgar would while others were just looking at Liam. Like the shot below, Alexander is looking at nothing but lights probably, but Edgar, Edgar is looking at something, he is looking at danger.

Also if they had just run a long ass stretch, Alexander would start to breathe a bit heavier, just slightly, once again bringing life to Edgar. Or if he asked Liam for a detail, he would then turn around and repeat it to the table as Edgar.

There was also a time where Edgar gets blood in his eyes, and Alexander is sitting, blinking in that way you do when you get something in your eye: Lifting your eyebrows, shutting one, then the other, squinting a bit. He did it mostly while in focus when it happened, but you could also occationally see him do it later while focus was on someone else.

And, my absolute favourite thing, Alexander acts not for his own benefit, but for his character's. Like an interaction where he is halusinating and ends up hurting an ally. Does he, Alexander, know that this is an ally? Yes, but Edgar doesn't, so he acted like Edgar would. He didn't need to, in fact most were shocked, even Liam, but as Alexander said: "I dont see you, I see monsters" which is CHEFF KISS.

It also can't have been easy to play a character like that, who holds secrets close but is caring and kind, yet snappy and sassy. Who beats himself up over hurting an enemy but also does everything for his friends. All while making it fit perfectly and not seem out of character.

Anyways, Edgar Lycoris appriciation while I go directly over to watch the other table top games Alexander has played in. LA at night here I come.

I was told to show my red dead-ish rdr2 crochet project in works. The pattern was likely not made with rdr in mind as it was made by an elderly spanish speaking lady, but I sure as shit am making it with rdr in mind. 105 rows done, 50 left.
