back when Varian and Fishone (her actual name being Ash/Ashanna at this age) were teens, this is the point where Varian and Tiffin kinda hated eachother and Tiffin would make comments about how Ashanna just followed him around and that he's essentially made her a pet almost which of course Varian never takes kindly to because he's well aware of Ashanna's homelife (and not even all of the fucked up crap that happens)

of course it isn't at all to say that Tiffin didn't really care about Ashanna because she very much did despite hardly ever interacting with the younger girl. But she does later on get a much better understanding of Ashanna and her friendship with Varian as Ash invites them both out to the lake to swim with never telling either of them the other person would be there, however to each to their surprise Tiffin and Varian end the day with finally finding some common ground and beginning to understand one another
