Then you can't vent or ask for support without giving the 10 page disclaimer explaining you understand its irrational and an illness which totally undermines the fact that it is something you are needing support with!!!!! Bc its just percieved and handled totally differently than literally every other mental illness.
Like irritability and snappiness as the result of autism, adhd, depression, overstimulation, anxiety, or whatever? Oh its fine we all have it happen like we will give you some space let me know if you need anything like understandable.
Same mood as the result of npd or bpd? Wow and like are you even safe to ve around rn are you gonna snap are you losing it oh your REAL self is showing now.
When you're expressing your NPD thoughts/behaviors to someone, but you're suddenly just hit with the urge to image control.
So you just immediately have to go "but yeah, I know that's irrational, and it's not my real thoughts. I know it's bad. I'm not actually like that, chat. Please believe me and don't think less/worse of me. I'm actually so cool and so self-aware which is Good. It all stays inside my head and I am Not Toxic or A Bad Person. Trust."
Bonus points if you're lying to some extent.

Hate that self love and practicing self care genuinely is such a direct impact on my symptoms and regulation. Like I painted my nails and did a face mask and did gratitude Journaling but not in a cute aesthetic way in a If I dont I will break things and engage in insane unsafe behaviors and idk if people get that when we bond over little self care habits LMAOOO
Reminder that w disorders stemming from neglect and rejection your symptoms do get worse if you neglect and reject yourself. Big sigh i hate when my therapist is right.

One of my favorite tropes is character with a nasty toxic personality who tries very hard to do the right thing anyway

I fucking hate that the general response to RFK Jr's eugenist take on autistic people is "autistic people do pay taxes, autistic people do work, autistic people do date!"
Some autistic people don't and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life. Some autistic people do need constant help and support and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life.
Once again we're falling in the right wing trap of :
They make a hateful, fascist statement
Instead of focusing on the fact that it is hateful and fascist we try to show them that they are factually wrong
We throw our own allies and the most vulnerable of us under the bus in the process
We legitimise an only slightly less hateful, fascist view as we go
They have completed their goal of making us accept the still hateful, fascist second version, hurrah. What a victory.
Right now what we're getting to with that is that autistic people who can work and pay taxes are okay, and the others aren't. Fuck this shit.
Same thing happens with the people who are being deported ("they have a visa!", "they didn't even have a criminal record!" -> even if they didn't have a visa, even if they did have a criminal record, deporting them and detaining them in what's essentially a concentration camp wouldn't be okay, you absolute tools of fascism.)

bpd culture is waiting. waiting for them to text you back. waiting for you to magically not have this disorder anymore. waiting for the paranoia to settle. waiting for the apology you're never going to get. waiting for your friends to notice that you're gone. waiting for them to get tired of you. waiting for something, anything to change.
so. much. fucking waiting.

One thing that a lot of healthy people (and even some chronically ill/disabled people) don't seem to get is that medicine is here to make things more convenient for you.
If you just can't get enough fiber or sodium in your diet, here's a pill you can swallow to get all that stuff instantly. You get nauseated whenever you're in a plane? Here's a pill for it. Your periods are awful? Try this synthetic hormone that comes in a million different dosages so you have a lot of options to find one that suits you. Your body isn't flushing bacteria as well as it should? Here's three supplements that helps your body do that. Your whatever organ isn't producing enough whatever juice? We make that in a lab now. Take a pill or have it infused yearly.
Recently my dietary restrictions got so hard to follow that my doctor just said to do the best I can and then upped my anti-inflammatory meds. I can kind of eat what I want without consequence now. Yes, it's worse on my liver and I may develop an intolerance for the medication, but my other option was "be sick and in pain all the time because all food hurts me right now."
With wellness culture blowing up, now more than ever I see people (even chronically ill people!!) parading their health as the result of lifestyle choices alone, gloating about how they don't take evil dirty medication--you're just not yourself when you take insulin!! When in reality, not everyone has the privilege. Some people are too busy or too disabled or too sick to go without medication. And even if you CAN be healthy and happy with lifestyle alone, it's still going to take up time and effort that you might want to devote to something fun instead. And that's okay!! Optimization is not your obligation.
Take the fucking headache medicine. I don't know where some people get the idea that medication makes you weak or that you need to have earned it, but it's not about strength or weakness anymore. The universe said I love you and she gave you a little morsel of magic so you can keep watching tv without your head exploding.

Trying to figure out if you’re ace or aro can be so goddamn hard because it’s like, trying to find the absence of something. Imagine you’re at a pond and you want to know if there are any turtles, or fish. Say you find a turtle and you’re like “great! Now I know there are turtles.” Or a fish, now you know for sure there are fish. Or you find both, and now you know for a fact there are both turtles and fish in the pond.
But like, if you don’t find any turtles it might be that there are no turtles or maybe you’re just really shitty at looking for turtles and maybe you THINK you saw a turtle over there or maybe it was just a stick. Maybe there are only a few turtles. Maybe you need to do something special to find the turtles. Maybe a bunch of these rocks are actually turtles but you couldn’t tell them apart. Maybe there are no turtles. You have no idea. Meanwhile some people are saying “Oh there have to be turtles! You’ll find them eventually ;)” or “How many turtles have you found in your pond?” or “Try planting some vegetables at the shore to attract the turtles.” Or “Oh no! What disaster happened to your pond that there are no turtles?” And you’re just standing there wet with an empty net and a tired expression.
But whatever because whether there are turtles or fish or not your pond’s ecology works just fine without them because that’s what eco-communities do they form a system around what they have. You aren’t missing anything if you don’t have turtles you just have a pond system without turtles. If someone tried to change you by pouring a bunch of turtles into your pond it would probably fuck something up.
So you don’t have to be entirely sure. You don’t have to search every inch of the damn pond before you can decide there are probably no turtles. If you want to take the aro or ace label because you think it fits go for it. And if you do find your turtles you can rename the pond. That’s fine.

i think something people without npd dont understand is that the anger we feel isnt fun. the anger we feel hurts us too. it feels fucking horrible to be filled with so much spite and rage and not know what to do with it. and in that moment it feels like your entire life youve been angry

"Don't compliment a narcissist you'll feed their ego"
So actually the gradiosity is activated when I am ignored/neglected or not complimented. You think the trigger of my traumagenic disorder is??? Compliments???
Guys i was complimented too much and constsntly cared for as a kid and now if ur nice to me it makea me a crazy ego maniac. I will only be normal if you treat me like garbage and ignore me that is good for a person for sure.

I'm convinced Mythbusters needs a reboot. Misinformation or mythinformation if you will, is at an all time high. We NEED the show that promotes critical thinking to come back. It doesn't need the same cast, in fact I think it would be better with some fresh faces. Imagine all the good it would do if you could just show your crazy uncle the Mythbusters reboot episode that debunks his anti-vaxx conspiracy in an easily digestible and entertaining format.

I like the fact that the two most well-known uses for lithium are treating people who are bipolar, and making batteries, which are also bipolar but in a completely different way.
