Ha, just saw my reblog of one of my writings from October 2020 saying that I may write again 😅 although I made no promises, it’s still humorous to me how quickly time gets away.
Here’s a small update that 2021 brought:
One year of marriage.
The completion of grad school.
A new pup.
Buying our first home.
Welcoming our little girl into the world in December 2021.
Lots of change, very little time. This blog has been pretty abandoned aside from the occasional reblog of something - it’ll probably continue this way. Thank you to those of you who have loved on my small pieces of writing over the years. Praying you all are doing well.
Now, I’m off to snuggle my beautiful 6 week old and watch the snow fall. 🤍
- Jo. xx

the cave of two lovers
dog years one-shot #1
dog years is a series of one-shots based on the adventures of fred weasley and his love.
pairing: fred weasley x reader
warnings: swearing, long af
word count: 3k - sue me, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

16 October 1993
The air was crisp and the ground was covered with fresh frost; autumn was seeming to make an early transition into winter. The Gryffindor common room was slowly coming to life as students begrudgingly made their way down from their dormitories and towards the Great Hall for breakfast. The common room lacked the chatter that had filled it the night before - the ‘after dinner ramble’ when it had been announced that the first Hogsmeade trip for the term would be in two weeks.
Many students, specifically third years, had buzzed about discussing all that was to be explored within the village. However now, like most Saturday mornings, the only noises to be heard were the growling of empty stomachs and the mumbled complaints like “it’s too early to be up” and “why can’t we order room service?” that typically came from Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas, respectively (even though they had woken up earlier during the week for class).
Following behind some sluggish first years, a trio of fifth years shuffled out of the portrait hole. “That’s the most pathetic excuse I’ve ever heard, Georgie.” Y/N scoffed at the tall red-headed twin on her left.
“It may be pathetic, but it’s the truth.” George shrugged, stuffing his hands into the front pockets of his jeans. “Snape said that my essay was ‘particularly dreadful.’” He said in his best Snape impression, which wasn’t actually that dreadful.
“You’ve never taken Snape’s advice before, so why start now?”
“Quite the inquisitor this morning, aren’t you Y/L/N?” Fred chimed in, his typical smirk plastered on his face.
Y/N nudged his ribs, “I’m only saying that George has never cared to listen to Snape before, so I don’t understand why this time is any different.”
“Mum wants us to do well on our O.W.L.s this year.” George shrugged again. Y/N furrowed her eyebrows. It wasn’t much of a secret that Mrs. Weasley was worried about the twins getting good marks on their O.W.L.s that the three were to take at the end of the year, but Y/N highly doubted that neither George nor Fred desired to pass the Potions exam. The sooner they could get rid of Snape, the better.
“And you believe now is the time to start caring about Potions?” She asked and George shrugged, yet again. “Well, I can help you, if you want. I mean, it’s not like Hogsmeade has anything now that won’t be there in a few weeks.”
“Angelina already said that she’d help,” said George rather quickly.
“Funny, she didn’t mention anything about helping you this morning,” Y/N retorted.
“Maybe she thinks that you don’t need to be all up in her business.”
Y/N elbowed Fred harder as the three continued their descent down the stairs that connected to the Grand Staircase, swiftly maneuvering around some stumbling students. Y/N didn’t believe George, not one bit. He had never passed on a trip to Hogsmeade, especially to “rewrite an essay” (she also found it hard to believe that Snape was actually giving him another chance at an assignment). He and Fred were hiding something, she was positive. What they were hiding, she wasn’t so sure. She was confused, seeing as how normally when a change in plans was made all three of them were aware of it. So she scanned her memory for any recollection of George mentioning not joining her and Fred on their Saturday adventure to Hogsmeade. But, nothing over the last few days even hinted at George’s excuse, which caused her to be even more suspicious.
Surely it wasn’t a prank - they hopefully knew better than to ever cross Y/N’s temper again. After a prank war in their second year, she had unleashed her wrath on the twins following a prank that went wrong, making them fear her (almost) as much as their mother. So, they had made a truce - no pranks on each other, but everyone else was fair game. And while it took a lot for Y/N to lose her temper, it was something that no one ever wanted to be on the receiving end of.
Y/N halted suddenly in front of the doors to the Great Hall, eyeing the twins skeptically when they stopped a few paces ahead of her. “What are you two hiding?”
“Nothing,” they said, their voices slightly higher.
“Your voices always sound like you’re on helium when you’re lying.”
Fred cleared his throat. “We’re not hiding anything.” He promised.
“Yeah, I actually am rewriting my essay today.” George nodded.
The skepticism on Y/N’s face didn’t break. She knew they were lying; when you had known someone for over ten years, you tended to pick up on their best and worst habits. Fred and George might get away with lying to everyone else, but not to her. Sometimes she thought she knew them both better than they knew each other.
“Then let me help you with it,” said Y/N.
“I told you, Angelina already agreed to help me with it,” George repeated.
“Ah, c’mon,” Fred offered a smirk, sauntering over to Y/N and throwing his arm around her shoulders. “You mean you’d rather spend the day with George writing an essay than with me at Hogsmeade? You’re breaking my heart, love.” His right-hand clutched his chest as his left arm squished her to his side. She rolled her eyes (a constant occurrence when it came to Fred and George), shoved Fred’s arm off, and stomped past George into the Great Hall. The two followed behind, plopping down on either side of her at the Gryffindor table.
“If this is a prank, I swear to Merlin I will hand you both over to the Dementors myself.” Y/N threatened, not bothering to look up from buttering her toast.
“Ooh, why are you giving up Fred and George’s souls?” Ron asked from across the table, wedged between Harry and Neville.
“Just trying to catch them in their lie,” she replied, reaching for some jam. “A warning so they know what’s good for them.”
Fred and George rolled their eyes at her. If they were being honest, everything was so far going according to the plan that they had hatched up the other night in the common room after Y/N had retired to bed. She seemed to be genuinely clueless about what they had schemed, which was exactly what they wanted. Y/N was always in the know with everything about almost everyone in the school; they were amazed that they had been able to tiptoe around her this much - something that wasn’t always easy when the three of them spent ninety-seven percent of their time together. Now, if only she would stop asking so many damn questions.
The trio made small talk with the third years, mostly answering their questions about Hogsmeade weekends. After listening to Hermione and Ron argue for fifteen minutes over their pets’ distinct dislike for one another, Y/N made a point to cease their row by standing to leave. “I think it’s time for me to go. Give my best to Crookshanks and Scabbers.” She said, bidding adieu as everyone else rose to leave, abandoning a flustered Ron and Hermione.
Upon returning to Gryffindor Tower, Y/N departed from Fred and George to the girl’s dormitories to grab her coat and bobble hat from her trunk. Back in the common room, she found Fred sitting on the couch, retying his hi-top sneakers, while George lounged in the armchair next to the fire. She hadn’t brought up their “secret” since breakfast, but she was still apprehensive as to what they were up to. She figured though that either nothing was wrong and they were actually telling the truth, or if they were lying then they were willing to be sacrificed to the Dementors.
“Ready, Freddie?” Y/N asked, to which Fred turned around to look at her with an amused look on his face. He finished tying his shoes, hopped up off the couch, and made his way over to her.
“Question is, are you ready, babe?” He said, fixing her hat so that it fit on her head more securely. She had to remind her heart to stop beating so fast when she felt the heat rushing to her cheeks. She rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out at him - in an attempt to hide her blushing and increased heart rate - and he laughed.
George peaked over the armchair, waving at the two of them. “Don’t screw up your study date with Angelina, Georgie!” Y/N teased. “Who knows what it might turn in to!”
George chuckled and called out, “I don’t think I’m the one who has to worry about getting screwed!”
Y/N’s eyebrows crinkled in confusion and she was about to question him, but Fred quickly ushered her out of the portrait hole before she could get a chance. “What was that about?” She asked.
“Dunno,” answered Fred. The duo walked down the staircase in silence for a bit before Fred spoke. “Why do you care so much that George is hanging out with Angelina today?”
“I don’t,” Y/N said truthfully. “I just thought it was strange that he all of a sudden wasn’t spending the day with us, is all. That’s why I assumed you two were planning a prank.” She shrugged and stared down at her feet as their speed decreased.
“It’s not-” he clarified when she looked up at him “-a prank, I mean. We made a truce remember?” She chuckled and the two shared a smile before stopping in front of the mirror on the fourth floor that hid one of the castle’s secret passageways. They didn’t use this passageway often, as most of Y/N and the twins’ adventures to Hogsmeade involved spending the most time at Honeydukes, but Fred insisted on starting the day at somewhere other than the sweets shop.
“We do have a plan though,” Fred informed as he motioned for Y/N to enter first into the passageway. Her eyes narrowed when she walked by and he grinned. “I can’t tell you - at least not yet.”
“Lumos,” she whispered and the end of her wand lit up; Fred did the same, leading the way through the tunnel. “Since you’ve promised it’s not a prank, I’m even more scared because I’ve no idea what your plan might include.” She told him.
“I swear it’s nothing bad,” Fred said over his shoulder. “In fact, hopefully, you’ll actually like it - if all goes according to.” He turned to her, walking backward with his boyish grin illuminated by the light from his wand.
She looked past him before smirking, “And if it doesn’t go according to plan? Then what are you going to do?”
“I’ll improvise.”
Nodding, Y/N walked ahead of him, causing him to turn around and his eyes to widen. A few feet ahead, the remaining three-quarters of the tunnel was blocked off. And not blocked with a rope, no; it seemed as though both sides of the tunnel had fallen in, completely obstructing any way to get around it. “Time to put those improv skills to a test, Freddie. I assume this isn’t part of the plan?” She laughed, reaching out to examine the damaged walls.
“Shit,” muttered Fred, rousing up a deeper, belly-laugh from Y/N. He had forgotten that the tunnel had been blocked off since last winter when he and George had tried to use it in a race to beat Y/N to Hogsmeade one weekend. He supposed this was what he got for trying to plan how he was to tell her that he loved her versus simply doing it.
He had to do something, and quickly because he knew that if he waited any longer then he would wimp out. And Fred Weasley did not wimp out, especially when it came to Y/N and how she had made him feel for the last three years - though, to be fair, he only started acknowledging his feelings this summer, so cut him some slack. And especially not when he knew George would hold it over his head for the rest of their lives.
Of course, he was nervous, bloody terrified even. Because even though he had heard from some reliable sources - every student in Gryffindor - that Y/N felt the same way, she was still his best friend and she could still say ‘no.’ And he knew that he had it in him to follow through with the plan, even if it hadn’t gone exactly as he had hoped. He had managed to convince Y/N to spend the day with only him, so the odds must be working somewhat in his favor. And he was going to do it because he was tired of seeing her every day and not being able to kiss her. So, he supposed that’s what he’d have to do.
“C’mon, we’re just a little delayed. We still have time to make it to the One-Eyed Witch statue, if we hurry.” Y/N said once her laughter died down. “Fred?” She turned around, confused when there’s no response.
And suddenly, her back was pressed against the rubble and there was pressure against her lips and large hands cradling her face. It took her all of three seconds to realize that it was Fred - her best friend was kissing her! After the initial shock, she moved her lips to sync up with his. The kiss itself was slow and steady, a pace that wasn’t often used to describe Fred. It was sweet and perfect and everything that she had imagined kissing Fred would be like - because honestly, it was something she thought about frequently - but it wasn’t enough.
Fred pulled away and his deep brown eyes stared at her with such adoration and a bit of smugness. “How’s that for improvising?” He smirked, running his thumb over her bottom lip.
Y/N’s eyes searched his before landing on his lips. His smirk was gone and his mouth was parted and she could hear him breathing. Her head was racing but her heart was faster so she decided that it was time to let it win. So she jumped, literally, tackling Fred’s lanky frame to the ground as her lips captured his.
This kiss wasn’t like the last. This one was full of hot breaths and sloppy synchronization as their tongues melted together. His fingertips danced under her sweater, tracing up her spine as she yanked his bobble hat off his head so she could tangle one of her hands in his hair. Her other hand held her weight above him, but then she pressed her body into his and he moaned. The sound alone made her weak and she decided that she always wanted to be the only one who ever got to hear Fred make that noise.
Y/N tugged on his lower lip with her teeth before releasing him and pulling away, both of them breathing heavily. Her hands were on either side of his head and his hands slowly ghosted down the curve of her back, leaving a trail of goosebumps with every touch. “Wow,” he laughed, causing her to erupt into giggles and bury her face in the right side of his neck. She kissed his flushed skin before moving away so that she could sit up. Fred’s smile was the widest she had ever seen it, and she was sure that hers was the same.
“Was that part of the plan?” She eventually asked, facing Fred as his long legs circled her.
He leaned back, his hands placed firmly behind him. “Kissing you - yes. The way it was executed - nah. I had planned on us spending the day wandering around Hogsmeade, with the intention of confessing my feelings at some point. But I forgot that this tunnel had been blocked off last year and I figured instead of trying to tell you my feelings, I should just show you.” Y/N’s heart fluttered and she grinned. “Damn, that was cheesy.” Fred chuckled.
“Well, I think you’re an excellent improviser. Possibly the best I’ve ever seen.” She said, leaning closer towards him.
“You were pretty impulsive,” Fred reminded her. “That’s got to be in the top ten hottest things you’ve ever done.”
“You have a list of the hottest things I’ve done? Typical.” She laughed.
“Hey, you’re hot and I’ve gotta remember these things.” Fred defended.
“Will you tell me what else is on the list?”
“Nope, the list is always changing.” He winked.
Y/N pouted and Fred leaned forward to peck her lips, earning a soft smile from her. “Don’t remind George about the tunnel,” Fred said looking around. “That way we can use it in the future without getting caught.” She rolled her eyes but agreed.
“I think we should dub this tunnel The Cave of Two Lovers.” She suggested.
Fred wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him so that she was on his lap. “Oh, so we’re lovers now?” He teased.
“I don’t know what we are,” she baited.
“I’m hoping that you’ll be my girlfriend,” Fred bit his lip and it took every ounce of self-control that Y/N had to not kiss him silly again.
She placed her hand on her chin, pondering. “Hmm, I’ll have to check with my other suitors first.” She squealed when Fred pinched her side. “Okay, yes, I would love to be your girlfriend, Frederick Weasley.”
Fred started placing kisses on every inch of her face, eliciting more giggles from her. “This isn’t going to be weird for George, right?” Y/N asked once Fred’s lips ceased their attack on her face.
“Who cares? He’s probably snogging Angelina as we speak.” Fred kissed her, again, and she sighed in contentment. She had no doubt that she could get used to this. Snuggled up in his arms, his kisses all over her skin, and her heart fully his - yeah, this was exactly where she always wanted to be.

I think we should also appreciate how he took the time out of his days to visit kids at the St. Jude hospital while still battling with his own cancer. He was a real life superhero to not only me but millions of people <3

Zutara Week 2020 Continuation: Reunion Part II
In case Tumblr can’t play the video here’s the Vimeo Link
I couldn’t help myself.
Shoutout to @crayolasaurus again and their Zutara - peace AMV. It sparked this image in my head of a continuation of Zuko and Katara’s meeting in the Reunion animatic. It kept me up at night, honestly, so I had to make this! It takes place later in the day following the events of Reunion Part I. Katara is settling in at the palace as the Southern Water Tribe Ambassador and is taking some time to decompress out in a breezeway, and after he had returned to a long day of Fire Lord duties and state business, Zuko follows up with her there. Both stripped of artifice and defenses (he’s in casual wear, she’s without her water pouch)… and they are able to enjoy each other’s company finally… as old friends… and more.
