Latest four way game - 1.000 points Genestealers allied with 1.500 points Imperial Guard vs 1.000 pts Chaos Knights allied with 1.500 points World Eaters (led by Angron).
A fun game; Angron truly is a monster! We did some serious damage to their forces, but didn‘t manage to score many points. GSC - while currently apparently very good meta-wise - are a very hard army to get right.

Next batch is ready for priming.
Closing in on 1.500 points.

And yet there‘s still my stack of shame.

Saturday was game day! First I participated in a narrative game with my GSC - some great ideas by the organizer but a few teething problems.

If you have the opportunity, having a „GM“ for a narrative game can be really fun!
Then, in the evening, a „proper“ game of 40K: my GSC allied with Chaos Knights vs Dark Angels and Leagues of Votann: all armies painted almost completely to a high standard!

It was a fun game, though it got late in the end.

A few action shots. GSC/Chaos Knights won in the end; our abilities really worked well together.

Abominant done.
Was extraordinarily fun to paint! Now back to the Neophyte grind.

Some WIP shots:

More Neophytes, an Abominant and his little friend.
Various stages of completion.
Oh, also did a 500 pts League game today. Only one picture available, but it is telling:

Death Guard Terminators hugging the objective.
Needless to say I lost.

Two more done minis. The unit of Aberrants is finally done (fun to paint!), and the Kelermorph was absolutely a blast to paint and I love how it turned out. I opted for a bright red cape to give him some style - he is not one to hide, but favors dramatic entrances after all!

Next Aberrant finished. I really enjoy painting them; they‘re a nice mix of muscles and carapace.

Long time no posting, but I was not lazy:

My 500 point Genestealer army is complete, and I am almost done with 1.000.
Right now I‘m painting two vehicles at the same time, and it is… fun…

Even magnetized the main gun on the Rockgrinder.

Will keep you posted.

“The Colossi class heavy excavator is a common sight on many of the mining worlds of the Kopalnax sector. Powered by 2 Stygian Pattern Plasma generators it is the ideal machine for the larger ore mines. Manufactured under Licence by the Starborn Mining Clan on the world of Talmtes Reach it has spread to many of the other mining institutions within the sector, allowing for a marked increase in production quotas.”
With the relegation of the scythed and barbed Hierodules to Legends I had to reassess the models role. Luckily putting it on a 30cm round base means it fits the footprint of a Heirophant so an upgrade was what was needed.
Filled the space with some crew with mining lasers and a kitbashed mini dozer and now she’s done.

Completed 500 pts army:

I am participating in a 500pts league, and this will be my initial army. League rules allow for modification of the army after a defeat, so this will be a testbed for the Cult.

Busy bee for the cult. Some WIPs of my progress:
Achilles Ridgerunner: fun to paint, with lots of chipping!

Nexos was a fun conversion; a 3D printed table and a Magos with some slight staff modifications looks excellent in my opinion:

Sanctus is a full conversion from a Kasrkin Sniper with a Brood Brother head and a Familiar from the Brood Coven:

Long time no write. Busy painting up my GSC still; I have to prepare a list for a local 500 pts league - made more difficult since I do not yet have the new points costs from the new Codex.
Ah yes, the Codex. Weirdly enough, most nerfs I can somewhat live with (though Demo Charges taking both a Strength AND number of Attacks hit was tough to swallow), but the one that triggers me the most is the change to Neophyte weapon options. A Neophyte squad can no longer be equipped with the same Heavy or Special Weapons twice - this not only ruins utility, but it also INCREASED THE TIME IT TAKES TO ROLL FOR THAT UNIT. The number of different weapon profiles goes up from 3 to 5 (!) in a ten man unit - 6 if you give the leader a „Leader Pistol“. This is frankly speaking madness.

So yeah, my excitement for the Codex is not that great.
ESPECIALLY since this means an already expensive and difficult to paint army gets even more expensive with more stuff to paint, if the nerfs go hand in hand with point decreases.
On other, more positive notes:

Squad bases! Everything to… speed up gameplay despite GW‘s best attempts to make this impossible (yes still salty).

I feel like I have neglected Battletech recently a bit; luckily, a friend asked for an Alpha Strike game on Sunday, so I followed 40K Saturday with Alpha Strike Sunday and took my Clanner Forces out for a spin:

Scenario was King of the Hill, the Anhurs performed Low Altitude drops of my Elementals (one unit managed to scatter 10“ from a height of 3“…), but in the end secured the objective while the Mechs duked it out with the opposition.
Group shot of my forces:

I might need to create additional display space.
In 40K news I think I zeroed in on a paint scheme for my vehicles, a friend made those mock ups for me and I think it might look good:

Yes, Orange. Though yellow at first, but tbh orange is the unifying color of my army, AND orange as a main color still allows for proper yellow/black hazard stripes.
Let‘s see if simply loading up the contras into an airbrush will work!

My first 600 pts games of 40K in like 15 years. My first fully painted games ever!
First game was against Chaos Knights - 3 beautifully painted War Dogs supported by 6 Nurgling bases.

Not only were they painted beautifully, their firepower was impressive. The game started with me losing a full unit of 10 Neophytes to a single War Dog shooting. The tide quickly turned, however, as I managed a devastating ambush and downed two in a single turn with my Saboteur, Neophytes with Mining Lasers and Demo Charges from Acolythes.
The remaining War Dog killed my characters (Patriarch, Primus, Saboteur) before finally being downed by Demo Charges.
The second game was against Dark Angels - damn were those models pretty!

I managed a close win (35 to 30 VP), after another devastating Alpha Strike that wiped out 200 pts worth of Deathwing.
This got my blood flowing for 40K again; next stop are 1.000 points!
