Woah boy Anon you have no idea what you've just done

Basically the first change is that Zeus is actually a good caring God who wants to protect and help people, and that ended up having consequences for pretty much all other characters.

Zeus takes the form of a teacher at Harvey's University after he's had his accident, getting him the support he needs and harshly punishing those who bully him. Harvey with his help doesn't become bitter and vengeful, instead insisting that he's going to prove everyone wrong by doing good for the world through science and robotics.

Zeus turns into first mate onboard an honest merchant ship and convinces the captain to let Crawfish (who's just a kid at the time) becomes a junior officer. He very quickly proves his skill with ships, rises through the ranks, and eventually when the old captain retires Crawfish is given command of the ship instead. When his home port begins to struggle financially, he uses the ship to bring them supplies

Zeus makes himself curator of an art museum, and makes sure to catch Widow on her very first heist. Instead of turning her in, he encourages her to keep improving her art instead of stealing it from others, and also suggests that if she's good enough to sneak past all that security she could have a future as a crimefighter. She takes him up on it, and with his guidance becomes a secret agent using her public persona as a famous artist as cover.

But Mordred is the one things change the most drastically for.

Mordred's childhood going by King Arthur myths was really not good: His father is King Arthur (making Mordred kind of a prince actually!), and there's a prophecy that Mordred will grow up to overthrow him and destroy the kingdom. Arthur wants to stop that from happening but doesn't know which child is Mordred, only that he'll be born on May 1. So he finds all children born on that day and sends them out onto the sea to drown, where Mordred is the only survivor.

In my normal idea of the world, I'd imagine this is when he washes up on the shores of Astroknights where he later finds out the truth and tries to become king as it's "his right".

In the Hero AU Zeus instead decides to intervene because this whole situation is messed up. He takes baby Mordred to Astroknights himself and gives him to the King and Queen. They're horrified that another king would do something like that to his own child, and adopt Mordred as their own. He grows up as a prince, and becomes a brave and honourable knight.

He sees Elyana as his little sister and they're very close. But as they grow up, people start to pay less and less attention to Elyana in favour of Mordred since he's the oldest child and the one who will become ruler. He also begins to spend less and less time with her as he's busy learning how to be king. She's alone and upset, feeling like everyone has abandoned her.

She begins to resent Mordred for having "abandoned her just like everyone else", and angry that he "stole the throne" from her. Eventually after they get into a huge fight she escapes into space.

Everyone assumes Elyana died in space, and Mordred is absolutely heartbroken feeling like all of it is his fault. The cult pops up believing she actually survived, and Mordred joins them because he's desperate to find Elyana and being her back home safely. Instead when he manages to contact her she attacks the kingdom and takes him away because "if you're gone I can be queen".

The player rescues Mordred, and Astroknights mostly plays out the same. Except despite everything he still cares for her, and when the portal is about to close leaving her stranded in space he tries to turn back for her at the last second.

He has an arm and half his face in the portal when it closes on him. He turns himself into a cyborg to survive.

Following all of that, he doesn't want anything more to do with the kingdom. He's extremely upset and just wants to run away from all of it. He gets into a tiny boat and lets it carry him off into the sea not even knowing if he'll survive or not. He drifts close enough to the "modern islands" to be rescued.

Black widow is an agent, so she becomes involved in figuring out what the heck happened to this medieval robot man they found adrift at sea.

Harvey is one of the best scientists, so she gets him involved too because he's pretty much the only one who can figure out how to repair Mordred's robotics while he's in the hospital.

Crawfish had a similar situation to Mordred of sailing too far from home and being picked up by modern people, so he gets called in because he's pretty much the only one who can fully empathise with being lost in this strange new world.

Mordred's bad situation brings the four of them together, and they decide to stick together as heroes defending Poptropica.

Anyways I was re-listening to my old playlists and stumbled across the songs about Mordred's messed up tragic life so now I have to draw angsty space boy.

Redraw of my old “good guys” au designs!

Dr Harvey Hare - Well liked and respected scientist who decided to cope with his lab accident by helping instead of becoming bitter and vengeful. He’s determined to prove he’s no less human by doing good for humanity.

Chief Inspector Black Widow - A world famous painter using her popularity as a cover for her actual job as a crimefighter. She regularly travels to track down criminals under the guise of “artistic business trips”.

Prince Mordred of Arturus - Through a complicated set of circumstances, Mordred ended up raised by the royal family. He’s a brave knight and a well liked leader, but is deep down very sad from the loss of his adoptive sister. He’s the one you save on Astroknights.

Captain Crawfish - Captain of a merchant ship, left his struggling port to try and find help and sailed far enough to come across the modern islands. He now works as a go-between, delivering supplies and help from modern poptropica to his own old fashioned home.

Not sure I am the best person to be giving out tips, since I’m notoriously bad at planning, ^^’ but there are a few things I’ve learnt from my blog. So... Skully’s 3 tips?

1 - Plan, but don’t plan too much! Try to decide a rough plan/skeleton for your story. But at least I myself tend to get overwhelmed if I plan too much, and the project starts to seem intimidating. I also think stories are more fun to make if there’s room for spontaneous ideas.

2 - Pace yourself! When I started out, I uploaded way too often and burnt myself out. It might not be realistic to update every day if you have school/work/other stuff going on. It’s always okay to take pauses, your health comes first.

3 - Have fun! Let yourself be silly or cliche, let yourself take the direction you want to take, and don’t worry all that much about about what is popular (as long as what you’re doing isn’t harmful, obviously). If you’re just taking orders it stops feeling like your story.

Not sure if there’s anything else I can say, so I’ll just leave you this paraphrasing from one of my favorite artists:

So I was thinking to myself, “I should draw a Christmassy picture with my pop character and everyone I follow” then I thought, “That would take like, 11 hours to draw all of them”. Then I’m like, “Oh! I know. I’ll draw them like little ornaments!” And then I came around to this...

Each of the ornaments is based off someone’s Poptropica character. I had to get creative with some of them. I didn’t do everyone I followed since I didn’t think I could fit them all and I couldn’t think of designs for afew.

I really like your new backstory!

And that drawing is awesome, I love how expressive Sun is!

Allow me to explain. So I have been changing things to Alice (Happy Sun) and a few other characters. One of those changes is that, Alice was not and never was human, but rather a rabbit demon. Rabbit demons have the capability to shape shift their form and can hold it quite well. However in moments of high stress or when dealing with strong emotions, such as anger, sadness, fear, ect…. if shifted, the form will falter revealing bits of their true self like whats occurring here with her hand. In Alice and Eleanor’s case, they shifted their forms to look less monstrous and more human like. I am still working on their reasons, motivations, backstory, their species, and all that. I have some of Alice’s backstory getting there (like… 10% done rip) Eleanor is also in the works too. I know it sounds strange at this moment because well… It ain’t all done, I have a lot of thought I gotta to put into this and its most definitely gonna take awhile till everything is in place and things work together smoothly. So right now its well… pretty patchy. Personality wise, they remain the same! These changes aren’t gonna change who these characters are as individuals. So why am I doing these big changes? I wasn’t happy with the old story, it was one that I came up with back when I was 12, and only had small changes done here and there ever since. Alice was originally a human/rabbit hybrid, who was turned during a science experiment. Now what the problem with that was…. When you look at her design, it doesn’t really look like she was involved in that, her body and features would have been really distorted and unnatural from being fused with a rabbit. She just looked like a human who threw on ears and a tail for the heck of it. Now I don’t mind that look for her! I’m personally content with her general design. But I needed a better reason and backstory for her looking the way she does without changing anything, cause her look does NOT scream science experiment gone wrong. (Not to mention that old backstory was kinda a rip from a character in game, Dr Hare, who is an ACTUAL human/rabbit hybrid. So that old version of her story was basically just ripping from another character, which that is considered unoriginal) But what made for a interesting backstory, is being a species that can shift their forms, and her coming across as a human who seems like they are just wearing rabbit accessories to other people. This way I could keep her design, and have her still be an actual rabbit like character. I wanted to do something a little more unique with this character, so that is what I am working on currently. I will explain more in the future!

Some quick story sketches for my version of Hero!Mordred and Villain!Elyana.

Basically, Mordred is taken in and raised by the royal family. But in deciding to raise Mordred, the king effectively locked Elyana out of the line of succession. Mordred is older, and male, and therefore becomes the more likely future king. When Elyana realizes this she feels that Mordred stole her future from her. Her resentment builds until she finally attempts to take over the kingdom by force.

Having grown up together, Mordred still considers Elyana his precious little sister. He wants nothing more than for her to return home safely, and has a lot of guilt for failing to talk her down; leaving you with no choice but to strand her in space to save him.
