Gudrun Krebitz is an Austrian Artist and Filmmaker who's work focuses on experimental animation, installation and single image drawings.

Her films have won main awards including the Grand Prix at Tampere, the Golden Horseman at Filmfest Dresden, The Jury Prize at Short Film Festival Hamburg as well as Jury Prizes at the Poetry Film Festivals in Berlin and Vienna. She received the Prize for an Experimental Animation by the “Künstlerhaus Wien/ Artist House Vienna” for EXOMOON 2016 and was a holder of Scholarships by the German Academic Exchange Programme, the Film/ Video Artist Programme of the Berlin Senate and her short THE MAGICAL DIMENSION 2018 was the second film she realised with the support of the German Federal Film Board.

Her drawings, narrative based short films and installations have been screened and presented at exhibition spaces and film-festivals worldwide, including the Berlinische Galerie, ICA London, Museum of contemporary Art Frankfurt, MUMOK Vienna, London Short Film Festival, International Film Festival Oberhausen, Festival D' Animation Annecy and the American Documentary film festival Palm Springs. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in London and studied Animation at the University of Film and Television in Potsdam- Babelsberg. Krebitz currently lives and works in Berlin.

EIN FILMPROGRAMM VON 1902 BIS HEUTE KURATIERT VON MIRJAM BAKER (KÜNSTLERIN UND FILMEMACHERIN) UND DANIEL KOTHENSCHULTE (FILM- UND KUNSTKRITIKER)

  Der Mond, für den Schriftsteller Heiner Müller hätte man ihn nie betreten dürfen. „Der Mond wäre für mich etwas, das man nicht anfassen sollte. Das sollte man einfach so stehen lassen, wie es ist.“ Aber natürlich ist dieses Lamento, aufgezeichnet in einem kleinen Film von Alexander Kluge, ein Wehklagen über verschüttete Milch. Vor genau 50 Jahren wurde der Mond, dieses Heiligtum aller Romantiker, zum ersten Mal betreten. Mit Schuhen sogar, den später berühmten Moon Boots. Dieses Ereignis feiert die Galerie Parrotta Contemporary auf Burg Lede mit einem Filmabend. Kuratiert von Mirjam Baker und Daniel Kothenschulte, ergänzt er die aktuelle Ausstellung „From the Rocket to the Moon“ um eine Reise in den Orbit zwischen Film und Kunst. Neben Kluge darf dabei auch der früheste Mondfahrer des Kinos nicht fehlen, der Stummfilmzauberer Georges Méliès, der schon 1902 den Mond bereiste. Weitere Trickfilmpioniere im Programm sind Max Fleischer („Koko’s Earth Control“, 1928) und John Hubley („Moonbird“, 1959).  Kenneth Anger, der heute 92-jährige Veteran des Avantgardefilms erfand bereits 1950 seinen eigenen „Rabbit’s Moon“. Das Designer-Paar Charles und Ray Eames ist mit dem sphärischen Kultfilm „The Power of 10“ im Programm vertreten.  Auch im Avantgardefilm der Gegenwart erweist sich der Mond als Sehnsuchstort: Die junge Berliner Trickfilmkünstlerin Gudrun Krebitz wird persönlich ihren Film „Exomoon“ (2015) vorstellen.  Bis heute hält sich das auch Gerücht, dass die Apollo-11-Mission in einem Fernsehstudio stattfand. Das kann daran liegen, dass Wernher von Braun die technischen Abläufe einer möglichen Mondfahrt bereits 1955 vor einer Disney-Kamera enthüllte. Wie sehr der Griff nach den Sternen gerade in der Nachkriegszeit die kindlichen Kino-Phantasien beflügelte, zelebrieren Christoph Girardet und Matthias Müller in ihrem schwelgerischen Filmkunstwerk „Meteor“, das 2011 im Wettbewerb beim Filmfestival Venedig Premiere hatte. Ganz gleich, ob sich gegenwärtige Pläne für eine neue Mond-Mission noch konkretisieren – dem treuen Erdtrabanten wird auch die Filmkunst stets die Treue halten.

Die ganze Aufregung liegt leider in der Unschärfe. Im flüchtigen Wahrnehmen und im blinden Rausch liegt das ganze Glück. Ich hab’ mir deswegen nie die Augen lasern lassen.

Was Gudrun Krebitz in ACHILL gelingt, ist eine kunstvolle Collage aus verschiedenen Eindrücken und auch Stilmitteln. Krebitz arbeitet mit Stop Motion, mit Hintergrundgeräuschen im Off, mit Grafiken und Fotografien. Seine besondere Komplexität und einen zusätzlichen visuellen Reiz gewinnt der Film durch die Verfremdung seines filmischen Materials und die kunstvolle Verschachtelung der einzelnen Ebenen. Mit ACHILL ist der Künstlerin Gudrun Krebitz ein wunderschöner Film gelungen, der sowohl in Form als auch Inhalt experimentiert und spielt. Und der den Zuschauer bewegt.

Filmmakers of many types have long been drawn to the complex “mytho-poetic” realm of dreams, trance-states, meditative solitude, the underworld, the deepest ocean, the darkest crypt ... Gudrun Krebitz names it the “magical dimension”, and her oneiric film is at once both an immersion in this shadowy, intoxicating realm, and a critical, self-doubting, reflexive examination of it. Freely mixing live footage and animation, using pictorial superimpositions and a multi-layered sound design (...) her film intermingles snatches of Berlin and Venice, in its impressionistic passage through an inner, ever transforming landscape.
