"Bam! no, close, but no cigar."
A good sherrif gets things dirty, suit included. A good spy makes things as bloodless and clean as possible, the tip of his finger poking outward from the neck like a fountain about to pop. like champagne about to erupt.
"Maybe next time, you'll guess it right."
He's being cagey with her, and Maria's not sure if she appreciates that. His cheesy grin and his big, big secret don't exactly help matters, either.
With his clean white suit and his clean white hat, she can't help but think he might be...
"You wouldn't happen to be some kinda sheriff, would ya?"
She gives him a scrutinizing look.

"Hmm, thats a secret."
Of course with no one here, he won't be saying that he's a government spy, one that would kill everyone without a moment notice unless they got in his way.
"A big, big secret. guess one more time would you?"
"Huh, no kidding!" She resists the urge to ask him how many fingers she's holding up. "What's your trade, then? Somethin' to do with makeup?" Maybe he's got a job in the theater business?

"Thats a trade secret."
The heavy dose of what passes for genetics within the world of all Blue is amazing, the sheer variety would put this whole city to shame. After all everyone is always going to be similar.
"But I can see."
Despite the eyes looking painted on.
"Really!"
Maria tilts her head, trying to figure out how he pulled off the look. With his white suit and hat, he wouldn't look too out of place in Lonestar — his height and odd face aside.
"Huh. I guess you couldn't emote like that in a mask. How'd you pull off the eyes, then? You got something in 'em?" She gestures at her own two eyes, both unadorned by any aids.

"Oh, my face? I suppose its make up.'
Its not, but no one needs to know how one can simply do enough acupuncture that you change your face. Or wear a mask over a mask. It was the funniest thing to avoid wearing an actual mask.

The day is bright, sunny and full of hope and dreams as he kicks a ball right into an abandoned building, the accuracy of his kick leaving much to be desired since he lost most of his strength and speed at the moment.
A window caves in, breaks.
looks like someone bored.

"Personally, I don't think its quiet enough."
After all the coffee was very weak, painfully different from coffee made by the sea. It was not something he would say, but his tolerance from anything that came like poison was high that most people gave up. he may not have much special powers but he could survive a hit, inside and out.
"City coffee doesn't hit the same, hence the amount."
"If anything, perhaps I should keep looking."
He makes a gesture for the bill.
"Guernika, former agent of the world government, at your service. perhaps we can meet again once I find these people? you are a rather interesting lady to entertain someone that looks like me."
he wears the makeup for a reason after all.

She has to admit. This weirdo is a hard one to read. He could very well be dead serious or completely full of it.
"Oooh. It sounds like you're a man with big dreams. Personally, I'd like to meet the assholes who control this place too, although, not necessarily for employment. If you find out how to contact these so-called powers that be, you better hit me up."
I-No rests her arm on the back of his booth, making herself comfortable there. It's not like she was touching her food anyway. "Of course, it's not possible. Not now, anyway. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're just jacked up from all of that." That meaning the six cups of coffee, goddamn. Playfully, boredly, she taps the rim of his hat. "I think you've had enough."

"Please. I'm a professional, drugs are a last resort for heist missions."
Meaning he had done that before, but of course he could be lying. His entire painted face, miracolusly painted every morning did not show a single emotion. But his hands grab the 6th cup of coffee of the morning, his need for it unending like a addict.
"I would offer my services to the powers that be, allow more reach. From what I gather, every major event tends to be very...generalized."
There is no ryhme, no reason for these vents.
"I worked for unfair powers before, it wouldn't be the first time it happened. And something familiar might make my day. But I could be killing kings and pirates again."
"The only problem is that its confined all to one city, and not the whole sea."
"Sounds like you're lookin' for a change." I-No chimes in from a neighboring cafe booth, back facing him.

She had just been sitting there far longer than she should have, dicing her omelet, entirely unengaged, into tiny pieces. Admittedly, she is using this seemingly mundane observation from a stranger as a much-needed return to earth. Shit, get ahold of yourself, will you?
Leaning over the seat, I-No continues, "You're not wrong. The news is a slogfest. Are you gonna do something about it? If so I’d kill to hear what you’ve got." She smirks, but her lip twitches ever so slightly when her gaze falls upon that ungodly stack of cups. "And...For future reference, snorting a line is way more efficient than pounding back all that caffeinated tar."
#ic#five cups of coffee are indeed a requirement for a healthy life what you on about i-no#crimsoncalamity01

"My, the news here is rather dull. But I suppose a peaceful place such as this won't have much on the news."
Of course the newspaper might be sourced straight from a bias source, but there really wasn't much to say when on your off hours, he starts drinking five cups of coffee piled on top of another in a tiny cafe in the street corner.

HSR verse, Guernika is a family member of the Oak family, being primarly the one who enforces the laws during the quieter moments of the dream. he retains his role as a enforcer of a government body that isn't quiet right as well.

he was not, at all talking highly of Luffy. a threat to national world peace and everything involved in that.
"Hmm...I suppose its alright now. For now, Guernika. That is my name. Since my bosses cannot contact me at this moment...It would be best to make as much friends with honesty."
"I rather not, that you mention me at all. We were, enemies and I had hope before I died that he had died beforehand."
unlikely, that picture still in his mind, the utter freedom and joy he felt forced on him.
"What about this place?"
Another store where he had stopped, chocolates for sale, mini wrappers.
"I see. I'm not much of an eater to the point I'd be a glutton but I wouldn't say no to a good meal."
Though that wasn't entirely true it really wasn't important how much the servant ate. Food didn't matter in the first place so all Mélusine got was a sense of mental satisfaction from it all. At least some good food could garner a reaction or two depending on how good it is...

"Still I'll keep the name in mind if you talk so highly of them. And if you are still around I'll be sure to mention you. Though I don't think I got your name yet..."

"...the hunger part, at least a fraction of it."
IN other words, no one had yet to see a true glutton for food save for Guernika whose very purpose was to gather information and do what you will with it.
"Its not important, if you never heard of such names. Perhaps one day, but not now. Just know that they have a extreme gluttony."
"Can't say I have no." It didn't even sound like a real name to begin with. Just words strung together to try and form something to resemble one. "Why? Is such an attitude remind you of them?"
If it did then perhaps she make a good effort on trying to meet them. Although for the security of all store owners and people making food out there, perhaps it'd be best that the two never met.
"And are they here in this city?"

"That kind of attitude...reminds me of a few people."
none of them were flattering, but he suppose if she truly turned out to be a big eater like Luffy, then he might be getting flashbacks to other big eaters. at the very least she is no Big mom he would have to suffer to.
Time to test something.
"Have you ever met someone name Monkey D Luffy by chance?"
"If I'm hungry enough I will." Which may have raised further questions then answers.
"Don't worry, I'm not like everyone else. The worst a little extra candy will do is make me sleep longer than I should. I don't see any problem with that."
At the very least it was a good enough reason in her mind to dress up for next year The real problem down the line would be just finding a costume that fit and worked well into what the knight wanted to present.

"I suppose the goverment are not inept to starve its kidnapees."
he comments, already thinking of everything already and coming to barely formed conclusions that might change later on. After all... he can't forsee much people coming out without their knowledge, much less escaping this city. the world map itself was incomplete and only showed the great expanse from outside.
"I suppose you mean the market, or perhaps a food court. Rare as that might be , this city must have hundreds since its size is rather large compared to the actual amount of people who were kidnapped."
"All actions lead to death." There was no sense in trying to deny it: even El himself, who had lived longer than many bloodlines and dynasties, would one day die. He did not shirk away from this, only accepted the fact. "Hah! By the Weave," the old man said with a chuckle and a wave of his bony hand, "If I am the guide for today, then we shall both be out and lost like sheep without a shepherd! But, I must admit, my wanderings have given me the grace of learning a few things here, so I will not deny the request." El beckoned for Guernica to follow. He used a simple wooden sword, like that of a child's toy, to keep him steady on the walk. It was clearly *barely* effective. "Now, a friend of mine showed me somewhere to go when your stomach can no longer deny the need for sustenance- many things in this realm cost currency, but at least the malevolent gods that brought us here have the sense enough to keep people fed! Hmph!"
