This artwork is for Ang InK's monthly wellness check post, specifically shared in our FB Group. Now, I would like to share this with everyone. Earlier this afternoon, I was able catch Kuya Robert's FB live Kumustahan, about his healing journey as a person living with cancer. We actually share same thoughts about death and dying. I was assigned this month of June to do the wellness check artwork, I had several ideas in mind. This particular one about Listening to your Body kept resonating within me. Kuya Robert, you are the inspiration behind this piece. Your healing journey trully inspires. Please always know that you are loved by the countless souls and hearts that you've touched. One of my unexpected gifrs from 2018, it's the first time someone gave me a Bible Diary. It was very welcoming gift, coming from one of my closest high school friend. This is not to impose pressure on my spirituality, rather to serve as my additional daily guide. It's a refreshing start to my 2019, keeping me grounded as I face my day to day. The Universe has it's own way of showing we where my path leads. That includes being reunited with the love of my life. Working holiday! Today on National Heroes Day, if it was a typical long weekend, I would probably be out biking since Saturday. What's currently happening in my humble studio? In one nook, this is what I've been doing in between cleaning, purging and organizing. It's been a while since I last worked with acrylic, and this is the first time I'm working with acrylic on canvas. I feel like a fish out of water, since I usually do dry brush and mixed media when I use acrylic. I guess this is my first artwork using just acrylic. In the first frame, I layer my canvas with a base coat of yellow ochre, glazed with white. Followed by the sketch, and layers per color. I've been dreaming of her for a long time now. Studio Situation: Working Space Finally having some decent space to work in. It may be small, but it's mine. So far my nephews knew not to bother me much when I'm in my moocave. Hihihi, basically because there isn't much room to move around in here, but it seems they're so intrigued by how much I'm transforming this special space. It's like they're waiting for me to invite them in. There are still a lot of sorting to do, I've just covered only 20% as of press time. But so far, the most fulfilling 20% worth of accomplishment. There really is no excuse in life and in art. If you need a space to work, you make space. Studio Situation, progress report ☺ You know that feeling of having the rug pulled from under your feet? That's how I've been since moving out from the two-storey studio that housed three of my major projects. Five months ago, I had to figure things out quick as move spaces while maintaining things business as usual. It was draining. Especially upon learning that I can't completely move in to the space promised to me because of clashing logistical issues with our family business. This room here, I claimed as both my brothers already moved out. I have to start somewhere or else things won't progress. Start small and keep things simple. Knowing how much stuff I've accumulated, the KonMari concept remains at a crawling pace. I am currently having this window to get back to work on my space, having a break from design projects now I can focus on the menial job of cleaning, sorting, arranging and organizing my space. Yesterday, I've made great progress after finally figuring out how my puzzle pieces would fit. Imagine moving things around inside a small room filled with heavy boxes, each move has to be carefully calculated before you can orchestrate. I feel good to finally apply all the theory and spatial reasoning: all drawn inside my head to actual execution. So far, I'm really pleased. I'm happy! All these physical work is releasing my happy hormones, I feel high! Studio situation The truth of the matter is, everything is still in shambles. As I am reorganizing my space while doing business as usual. It's crazy, often times I just clear out what's in front of me. The piles you see here are just 1/8th of the stuff that needs organizing and purging. A whole lot of purging. Handling and juggling tasks in between my other life in our family business, freelance graphic design jobs, personal art projects and org stuff. Not that I'm complaining, I am thankful for everything that I'm doing with my life right now. Including all my booboos. This is a glimpse of my space. Despite the mess, it is slowly taking shape. I have to constantly step back to breath and evaluate. I have this small 6-tier shelf that I decided to become my calligraphy shelf. Everything has to have their own space, just one step at a time.
