“Mithiing Mirasol” is one of my contributions to the Project Hulmahan benefit art show. Originally rendered as a watercolor painting for AngInk Story, it tells of the sunflower’s ambition to someday become like the sun. And so, it strives to grow taller and brighter every day. “Mithiing Mirasol” is done in acrylic on shoe last and resin-coated. BERAPA SET JUMLAH BAJU SAAT UMROH ? Saya termasuk yang tidak terlalu ribet dan ruwet masalah baju. Kalo daleman, memang wajib bagi saya setiap hari ganti minimal 2x. Kalo ga, nanti pulang-pulang, dimarahin istri yang walhamdulillah, cukup memperhatikan mslh spt ini. Saat umroh, biasanya say cm bawa 5 setel aja. Mbah ring nggo… kumbah garing dinggo… Pokoke ya ngono. Terkadang “dry clean” juga kami lakukan… alias diangin-anginke… 😀😀😀. Maka, tidak perlu anda membawa baju yang harus disesuaikan dengan warna2 mesin ATM di saudi… atau harus sewarna dg kiswah ka’bah, atau ijo kubah masjid nabawi… Ga ada aturan itu… Yang ada : Nutup aurat… syukur wangun, pantes, dan wangi… Kalo habis, ya cuci aja… kalo males nyuci, ya beli. "Mithiing Mirasol" ". . . A field of sunflowers, with each blooming forth with its own style and brilliance. They beckon the young ones to blossom and reach towards the sky where they will, eventually become the suns and stars that guides everyone." I was never formally trained or received schooling as an artist, and it has been my dream to become successful in art, which I was compelled to put it aside as a hobby while I worked as a professional physical therapist and teacher. When an opportunity to illustrate a children's book arose, I figured it was time to consider improving my skills as an artist/illustrator. That's how I discovered AngINK. I wanted to become a member to validate my worth as an artist/illustrator but also to develop my skills, craft, knowledge and understanding in art and illustrating for children. When I finally joined in 2009, everyone in AngINK was brilliant and kind  - They, the senior members and artists I look up to, never failed to encourage the new members to "blossom and reach towards the sky where they will, eventually become the suns and stars that guides everyone." The Curious Case of the Watermelons by Abi Goy

2016 is Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan’s 25th Year Anniversary. The annual exhibit is entitled, “Tinker Tales,” held at the Ayala Museum in Makati. 

Each illustrator selected a story based on stories written by children. I was assigned to use only 3 panels! 

The original story, entitled “Ang Batang Mahilig Kumain ng Pakwan,” is by Gabriel Salvo, Grade 3 from AHA! LEARNING CENTER. 

“Isang araw may nakita ang bata sa lamesa na punong-puno ng pakwan Kinain niya ang isang pakwan na buo.”

Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan Tinker Tales: 25th Anniversary Exhibit 2016, Ayala Museum

I don’t know where to start since I’ve neglected again to update this blog. One thing is for sure, I am really grateful and extremely happy to be part of this organization. Our organization celebrates its 25th year by having our annual exhibit at Ayala museum opened last Monday, September 14.

This was a one year project for us. First, we illustrate on stones and had it installed outside Ayala Museum and then it was given to random kids from school and organizations to make up a story based on our illustrations on the stone. After that all the collected stories from the kids were distributed for us to have it illustrated.

Forgive me for my emotional statement from this point but I will just copy what I wrote in my personal Instagram few days ago. 

Another milestone happened to me. My artwork and other Inkies' artworks were displayed at Ayala Museum!

I've never been so grateful for everything right now and I'm not exaggerating. Honestly, I already gave up(I think so) in pushing my career eg. working fulltime in a glamorous creative company. I don't know what to do with my life right now. And the half year past by so quickly and to think this. This is where I am right now. All alone. No friends to talk to, no workmates, no creative juices overflowing, nothing to feel about stepping up my career game, I can't even connect how people works with creative agencies. Here, this is me, solely just a tiny specimen without anything to be proud of, no awards, no published works but here I see my work. My tiny work along side with other greater artists. I am happy. Happy that I could still feel that I am here. Existing.

And I am really thankful for the people who still believe in me despite my lack of everything. You know who you are. And of course, Ang INK, di man nila ramdam yun pero nakatulong sila sa akin. 

The exhibit still runs until October 16 so you can catch up all the awesome artworks from all Ang INK members. And please support our local children literature because there are vast of good books and they are extremely cheap.
