Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 32 Production Blog
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this website
How were episodes 31 and 32? I think it’s also in the “Episode in Short” section, but the scaffolding for episode 32’s action was made within the filming studio, and the scene took several days to film. Eitoku can run so fast on high scaffolding…! And the artists rapidly climbed up! All of the staff members who finished shooting said that they’d filmed something interesting with a satisfied smile on their face, and that was striking. After filming the laboratory scene, Hino and Shoji both had a satisfied smile from having trust in each other and playing off each other well. These episodes were memorable, since they had a rare “Gavv” combination of Uchida and Director Kamihoriuchi. Thank you both so much!
And now, starting with the next episode… it’ll soon be May. A Granute treated to Dark Snacks by the Present, Magen, will be active. He seems like an influential friend of the President. Turbulent developments are on the horizon. And there’s a hint of a new form shown in the poster…! Episodes 33 and 34 will be directed by Takayuki Shibasaki. Please look forward to it!
(Written by Takayuki Shibasaki)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching Episode 32! Continuing from last time, Director Kamihoriuchi and Uchida’s script depicted the uneven partnership between Hanto and Rakia!
Tumblr media
Last episode might have been heavy on the comedy elements, but this time, the two characters showed plenty of serious human drama and large-scale action!
Lizel and Shoma’s Post-battle Teatime
Hanto and Rakia’s story is the main focus of the episode, but Shoma’s solo plotline is also something you can’t take your eyes off of. After Shoma takes on a Butler, a familiar of the Jardak family, in battle, Lizel suddenly has a tea party with him.
Tumblr media
Investigating Lizel was one theme of this Kamihoriuchi arc, and this scene seems to represent her character very well.
She says Jeebh, who has suffered greatly from the loss of his partner, is cute, and thinks the same of the pancake sauce that she sloppily spread around. Her points of her speech like those ones display an extremely aesthetically inclined flair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was Director Kamihoriuchi’s idea to have Lizel pick out the cafe’s flowers until only the poisonous-looking ones remain, and coupled with the tone of the color-corrected picture, it gives a very creepy impression.
Tumblr media
While Lizel walks about the human realm due to her interest in humans, precarious political developments are afoot in the Granute world.
Within the Presidential Residence, Magen has become a complete slave to Dark Snacks. The new assets first appeared in episode 30, but actually, due to it being completed behind schedule, these Kamihoriuchi episodes were filmed at the same time as Morota’s episode 30.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Director Kamihoriuchi was also present for the filming of the Morota episodes, and thanks to the vigorous effort of Director Kamihoriuchi, who has a year of live composition experience from “Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger”, they were able to create an eye-opening image! The low-angle shot of the President’s throne seen in this episode took a lot of time to pull off, but it was worth the effort!
Tumblr media
I digress, but the Dark Snacks that Jin Katagiri sculpted in episode 1 are still holding up, so we briefly got in trouble on the set because “You can’t cut it with a knife well!!”
Tumblr media
But it was done easily when cut with a warm knife. We somehow found a solution to overcome this great challenge (Laugh).
Tumblr media
The director warming a knife himself
Speaking of Director Kamihoriuchi’s unique aspects, “Dente’s cave” was actually filmed with the same live composition method in this episode.
Tumblr media
Normally, we film Dente’s cave on a location set and decorate it with props, but we aimed to reduce costs and take less time for going to locations and having the art department decorate, so we challenged ourselves with live composition filming on a green-screen.
It might have been nearly impossible to film everything up to now with live composition, but this scene with Dente and Nyelv was comfortably shot without going to the location, with a filming technique that only the live composition pro, Director Kamihoriuchi, could pull off!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Long-awaited Double Cup-on!
Director Kamihoriuchi was in charge of episodes 11 and 12, where Shoma and Hanto’s identities were revealed, and the long acting scenes from then were fairly impressive. Episode 32 also has a lengthy scene where Hanto and Rakia reveal their pasts and true intentions to each other, but in this episode, he also markedly shoots scenes that show their human drama over more time.
Tumblr media
In order to not make the footage too dull, the director directed them to act with a lot of movement, but Hino and Shoji really got into it and did this difficult acting carefully. The director’s lighting direction sets the mood well, as expected.
This is a photo from the scene with the two of them… The distance between them in just this photo makes me a little nervous…
Tumblr media
And now for the double-belt transformation with two people who have joined hands!
Tumblr media
Valen and Vram begin a tough battle. After we considered safety, we decided to film the scene by creating an action set from steel frame inside a studio.
Tumblr media
This was also a bold move from Director Kamihoriuchi that was adopted in episode 11’s action scene as well. He wanted to create a whole location set by remodeling one corner of the studio.
You might be thinking, “Why is it inside the filming studio?”. There are countless benefits to shooting inside a filming studio that’s your normal base of operations: It saves time with moving around, reduces location rental costs, and takes less time on setup and preparation.
The great thing about Director Kamihoriuchi is that he doesn’t make it feel like it’s a filming studio. If anything, it’s that he effectively makes use of its geographical features.
Tumblr media
Due to the nature of action scenes requiring a very large space, they’re often set in flat spaces like prairies and flatlands, but the director and Action Director Fujita wanted to show action in a three-dimensional space for this episode, so these steel scaffolding structures were constructed.
Wonderfully carrying out that goal, they were able to create open, three-dimensional action that isn’t usually seen. The shots where Vram corners the Granute, Reaper, while destroying scaffolding was an incredible and breathtaking success!
Tumblr media
The direction of the fight and its preparation took plenty of time, not to mention the full day of rehearsal. All of the staff and cast collectively wanted to make amazing footage, and I could feel their enthusiasm on the set.
Tumblr media
Episodes 31 and 32 were made from new perspectives that wanted to resolve Hanto and Rakia’s discord, but it was not only the two’s bond, but also many charming facets that couldn’t have been done before, that were done here.
Please look forward to Hanto and Rakia’s activities in the next episode and onward.

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 31 Production Blog
kazuya kamihoriuchi finally returns to gavv and the episode is just a bunch of slapstick. amazing
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this website
Looking at the Next Episode
This episode had all sorts of things, both fun and serious! It had a barbershop atmosphere to it. The introduction in the scene at a shrine is a very movie-like thing to do. The fear of monsters lurking within normal life… It brought back memories of the original “Kamen Rider”.
Hanto nearly drowns in pudding… It seems like it was a close call. Uchida’s ideas are interesting precisely because he has a somewhat objective view of “Gavv”.
There were plenty of rehearsals in the scenes where Hanto and Rakia were stuck to each other. Good job doing action with body parts tied to one another. The flour covering scene also… required a lot of willpower from the actors.
And you should also pay attention to the next episode’s action! It’s reflected in the trailer as well, but they made scaffolding from scratch and built very original action. It’s full of care from Director Kamihoriuchi and Action Director Fujita. The satisfied-looking smiles from all the staff members who finished filming were striking to me. Please look forward to it!
And on the acting side, Hanto and Rakia have two-person scenes. The directors spent several hours carefully directing that, too. Please don’t miss the next episode.
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 31! With this fresh lineup of not only the return of Kamihoriuchi, but also the first Gavv appearance of Uchida in the script, a comical episode that might just be the greatest in history was delivered!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please enjoy many off-screen shots of slapstick moments behind-the-scenes (Laugh).
Spinning Shop
This episode’s part-timer, Ripper, uses… uses the viewpoint of a barber…
His strategy is to make customers fresh and happy, and then turn them into Human Presses! In order to make high-quality Human Presses, the amazing Ripper goes to incredible lengths to accumulate regular customers over time with refined skills.
Maybe he’s skilled at cutting things in his human form since his Granute form resembles a praying mantis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s doing the scene while being supervised on his movements for serving customers.
Tumblr media
Director Kamihoriuchi’s specialty attire is also wonderful! The character’s actor, Tappei Sakaguchi, brought out an unexpectedly unique feeling of a monster steadily lurking in everyday life, unlike the “standard kaijin”.
The tense exchange with Hanto coupled with the barbershop’s atmosphere had a nice feeling to it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like in episode 30, Hanto’s skills as a writer stand out here. (Even though it gets ruined by Rakia storming in without hesitation.) His boss trained him well!
The Lurking Presidential Family
Shoma gets a strange call about “Hanto and Rakia being stuck together” and goes to see what’s going on, but then someone appears: a Butler, a familiar of the Jardak family. They assist with anything in their daily lives, including being guards for Lizel during her strolls in the human realm.
Tumblr media
They have a completely different aura from the Stomach family’s familiars, but their masks were designed by the same person, Seima Muto.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This episode once again has action with maximum energy, making full use of depth, width, and height in a thin alleyway. With the Butler minding their head and adjusting their collar as they skim past Gavv’s attack, their elegant actions seep into every part of the action.
Butler deals reliable damage with efficient, even graceful, movements, and their charge, Lizel…
Tumblr media
The Jardak family never fails to impress, but is Shoma okay…?! They said to lend it for a while (no they didn’t). [im not sure how this connects]
The Pair Stuck Together
Situations with characters’ hands stuck together are familiar to Super Sentai fans, but somewhat rare in Kamen Rider. Combining characters who don’t get along, can’t reveal their secret identity, or are simply very inconvenienced by the situation, is a common trope, but this episode has many unique features.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We said, “Since their relationship hasn’t been delved into yet… let’s make a Hanto and Rakia episode! Let’s have them get stuck together so that they have to talk to each other!”, and this was the result (Laugh).
In “Kiramager”, which Shoji was in, the Red Ranger, Juru, got stuck to his classmate Kakihara with glue that a Jamenshi fired, but in this episode, the slime that gets shot by a mantis-like Granute seems to be a praying mantis’ egg casing (be careful when you look this up on the Internet) that ties them together tightly, making Rakia’s right arm inseparable from Hanto’s left.
The director had many ideas, like having not just the wrists but their whole bodies wrapped so that the gaps between the hands and the molding wouldn’t be visible… He made a scenario that’s not too realistic or too distorted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the way, the armor parts were very thick, so a Rider-size version that’s one size bigger than the human size was made.
The director said during action training beforehand, “It’s Home Alone-esque slapstick, like, a strength is that Rakia is strong, and can spin Hanto around by the arm, but Hanto gets stuck, and so Rakia gets put in an even worse situation!”. As he’d conveyed, the scene is a terrible series of mishaps between the two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above all else, the most memorable part was Rakia getting covered in cement powder that fell on his face.
Tumblr media
Kohei Shoji (25)
We only had one shot to do this scene, and in the take, the bag (which actually contained rice flour) landed juuust a little below the mark, but then Shoji demonstrated a high-grade technique by spreading it to cover his whole face as he pushed the bag off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hang on, what is this framing technique? You’re so greedy! When we got a successful shot, the people on the set applauded at their dedication to entertainment (Laugh).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s like something out of a nightmare…
Tumblr media
Whoooooooosh (Everyone slowly moves further and further away)
The next scene, the argument at the Hapipare, the usually-taciturn Rakia eloquently launches one diss after another at Hanto. The exchange was born when it was brought up that Rakia’s seen Hanto mess up a lot.
Tumblr media
There’s a spot where Hanto is completely clenching his teeth, but the director approved the take because he thought it was realistic and cute (Laugh).
Hanto’s highlight (?) is him getting dragged around and having to transform from within pudding. 🍮
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hino’s amazing facial expressions are perfectly shown here. He becomes even more pitiful from the overwhelming amount of steps when he tries to transform with the ValenBuster.
His irritated dialogue with Chocodon was fun too, but it’s kind of funny that the subtitles continue up until he audibly says “Transform”.
Tumblr media
Here’s a photo of them doing a duo transformation that you can’t really see inside the pudding.
Although Shoji’s first appearance as a voice for Rakia’s Granute form was in the previous Kamihoriuchi arc, the same one as Hino’s first transformation alongside Shoma in episode 12, this is Shoji’s first time working in-person with Director Kamihoriuchi since “Blooming with You” [Kimi to Yukite Saku], so he might have been thinking, “You’ve grown so much…!”, but I would never have expected him to bring out his true value as an actor through comedy (Laugh).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The two of them trust in each other’s acting. Different exchanges will be seen in the next episode, so please look forward to that.
For the action, they’re naturally still stuck to each other.
Tumblr media
If Kaji and Eitoku didn’t pay attention, their joints would get locked, and they were constantly stuck together, so the extra-technical movements were demanding, but just as expected, they had physical strength and coordination to fit the great “out-of-sync” pair!
[I HIT THE 30 IMAGE LIMIT AGAIN :( go to the original page to see the last 2 images]
They look like a carp streamer 🎏 (It’s that time of year) I don’t really know what you can do with this information, but it’s cool!
A limitation in the script was that only their hands were tied, but in the fight scene, they decided to have them be briefly freed and then get their arm and leg stuck together.
Although Rakia freed them with an overbearing move, Ripper seems to have narrowly evacuated before getting hit by their double finisher… He hasn’t been defeated yet. And Rakia stares at the mark left by Ripper’s slash with profound meaning…
[Image here: Hanto is talking while Rakia stares off into the distance. Neither of them are wearing their belts.]
That was a wonderful cup-in by the odd pair with matching belts. ⛳️ Wait, can they even cup-on?!

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 30 Production Blog
aw gee 2025 SHT how come you get TWO obvious metaphors for the corrupt japanese government that also happen to apply to the current rapidly deteriorating state of the US government
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this website
Looking at the Next Episode
It’s sudden, but I wonder how long it takes for “Gavv” to be made. In the case of Sentai and Rider, it progresses two episodes at a time for each director.
How to make a script: At ordering meetings… What story should we do, and who should it be about? If there are new weapons or forms, everyone also looks at designs. We brainstorm the future plot structure in idle talk. Then, Plot meeting -> First draft meeting -> Second draft meeting -> Final draft completion
Generally, two episodes take three weeks to write.
Filming -> Around two weeks.
Voice-overs -> Post-transformation, Gochizos, and the like. Generally a day of work.
Finishing work -> About a month.
All-rush preview screening… A preview without visual effects, music, or sound effects for the people involved. Slight adjustments may be made here.
Basic editing… Visual effects, color adjustments, etc. Subtitles are added and footage is completed as well. Done twice.
MA… Sound effects and music are added, and sound levels are balanced. Toy sounds are also added here.
First screening… Finally complete!
The reason I wrote this process is because we order things even earlier than we film. Episode 31 and 32’s scripts were written by Hiroki Uchida. It’s his first time writing for “Gavv”. I’ve worked with Uchida on the “Gotchard & Geats” winter movie. He wrote the characters of “Geats” vividly in that script.
When I asked him to do episodes 31 and 32, Gavv had only aired its first few episodes… He had to read 30 episodes of script all at once! He figured out the story’s world and characters all at once, and watched what all-rush footage had been completed at that point… I think I only could have asked Uchida, whose love for Rider seeps from every corner of Gotchard. Thank you very much, Uchida!
Hanto and Rakia, who haven’t been getting along so far for some reason, are stuck together now?! You should definitely look forward to the next episode!
It will be directed by Director Kamihoriuchi. It’s his first time in “Gavv” since episodes 11 and 12. It’s been a while! Director Kamihoriuchi has also been busy for some reason… The scenes in episode 12 where Shoma and Hanto find out each other’s identities was great. It’s that time of year where we say that they should definitely come back. Kamihoriuchi’s style of making shots one-by-one is interesting. Don’t miss it!
(Written by: Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching Episode 30.
Tumblr media
This episode was a series of developments and new information not touched on in the trailer, much less the previous episode. The new chapter won’t slow down, so please look forward to what direction the story will progress in from now on!
The Stomachs’ Family Troubles, Swirling With Love and Hatred
Like the previous episode, the young Lizel throws the Stomach company into chaos this time. I would never have expected that the family Jiip marries into would be the president’s daughter… It was a series of developments that Lango also seemed to want to say, “I didn’t know about this,” to.
Tumblr media
Siita appears for the first time in a long time! The Mimic Key destroyed in episode 14 has been repaired. There probably were many people who thought, “He could use the Mimic Key like that?!”.
However, Jiip isn’t able to meet with Siita, and the person reflected in the mirror is someone he dearly misses but can’t reunite with. To become someone youre not and marry into a powerful family, in order to get revenge… The Stomach family’s drama of love and hate is speeding up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kawasaki and Koga finally got to see each other on the set again! Welcome back, Siita.
Tumblr media
It’s not only characters that have rushed into the new chapter and made first appearances. The new asset (3D-CG space) nicknamed the “President’s official residence” makes its first appearance in this episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When posed with the problem of “how do we give the impression that a new level of power has been added to Gavv’s world?”, we made a request for this episode to Black Frame, who made the assets for the Stomach Company, and they made new assets at a fast pace.
aIt also matches their clothing, but the design uses a noble white that contrasts against the Stomach’s colors! And “the President’s official residence” sounds like a castle-esque building that reigns over the skies, so the Jardak family’s crest designed by Hideki Tajima appears in many places.
When you try looking at the details, you see elaborate designs all over the place. Filming with unfamiliar assets was difficult, but the director also got the shots he wanted, like the ones from the sky to the atrium!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A new Granute, Magen, appears in this presidential residence. He seems to be an extremely powerful person who’s close with the President… and he’s being fed Dark Snacks!?!?
I have a feeling that the President using Dark Snacks for personal reasons could cause problems.
Tumblr media
Magen’s voice actor is Wataru Takagi! He’s a corrupt merchant who reflects Director Morota’s idea that “the important people are also bad guys~”. He gave an explosive performance that truly embodies that image!
Tumblr media
Dark clouds loom over the Granute world, and thus the Stomach family. Lango’s seat as the company president has been stolen by a young girl, and Glotta, who used to be as violent as she wanted, can’t do much either.
Tumblr media
Ochiru the Granute Falls From Trees
Tumblr media
Find Director Morota’s cameo in this image!!
Setting aside that joke, there’s a search for the Granute who got away in the last episode! While on the hunt, Shoma goes to a certain candy store to ask for information.
The candy store’s name is “Hidamari”. There’s a cafe space, so it has the name “Candy Cafe”.
Tumblr media
The store’s owner that Shoma encounters there is played by Shuhei Handa! His warm gaze with a really kind presence was striking. It seems like he’ll also appear in the next episode, so pay attention to how he’ll be involved in the future!
Tumblr media
Higo made a fun battle full of witty remarks for this episode too. He was a basketball spectator last time, but it was uncovered that he’s actually an attendant at a bathhouse. At the time we cast him, we approached him in part because he perfectly fit the part of an old man at a bathhouse. (It’s not a hot bath!!)
Tumblr media
A double ice cream transformation and a double Rider kick! Since Frappe has appeared now, we wanted to do an ice cream lineup with Gavv and Valen at any cost! So, they successfully defeat a Granute with richly chilly action in this episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There might have been many serious fights recently, but fun action is also good to have!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Off-screen Birthday
Shoji celebrated his birthday during this Morota arc. The troupe’s leader, Chinen, presented his cake!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Happy birthday, Shoji! We took a celebratory photo with everyone, including the director!
Tumblr media
Since it’s Rakia, we obviously had to do pudding. 🍮 We asked a cake shop close to the set, and they made a special, extra-large pudding cake! LOL
Tumblr media
Furthermore, not only Shoji but also Tsukada celebrated their birthdays during this Morota episode! What a birthday rush! Satoshi Morota is a birthday-attracting director.
Tumblr media
Our Lango was able to celebrate his birthday with his entire family (including his new sister-in-law Lizel)~!
The Stomach family’s situation is chaotic, but on the set, they’re always kind to each other, and they all celebrated with him.

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 29 Production Blog
imagine the dread i felt as i was about to fall asleep last night, having not even finished episode 28’s blog translation, blearily reading a screenshot sent on discord of a heading that was google translated to “The AIDS”
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this website
Looking at the Next Episode
How was episode 29, which encompasses a whole month of time and plot developments? The new characters, President Bocca and his only daughter, Lizel, appear. Surprisingly, Lizel was Jiip’s spouse. Father, daughter, and Jiip will cause chaos amongst the Stomach family, as well as Shoma and his friends. The next episode has a new development of, Shoma, Sachika, and Rakia, joined by Hanto, following a Granute case, while completely unaware of the ongoing drama. Many events will slowly progress in the background, so it might be interesting to guess what’s connected to each other while watching.
A visual for the next chapter has also been revealed. Both enemies and Riders will power-up. You may have also noticed that “Gavv” has reached its thirtieth episode. The second half of the battle will be a turbulent one. The white background of the poster represents the president’s faction. The new assets (backgrounds) of the live composition were decided on by the main director, Teruaki Sugihara. This will also be displayed in episode 30. “Gavv” will increase in scale. Please look forward to future episodes.
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 29!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The in-universe calendar, which had stagnated for a while as many events happened one after another, suddenly jumps forward. Including everyone in the Granute world, each character has found themselves in a new situation.
Helping Out and Basketball!
The events of a whole month were shown all at once. Shoma’s health has been completely restored, and Hanto has gone to visit many places.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He goes to accompany Shoma to visit Rakia, the new resident of Suga’s research department (only Rakia could live in that place!). The opening has been slightly changed to celebrate Rakia moving in! Please try to find the changes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They even wrapped the gift, so please enjoy it.
Tumblr media
By the way, a blue pillow was put on the couch since Rakia’s here. When taking photos of Suga for the character book after this, occasionally Rakia’s items would be secretly taken in front of Asanuma, like, “These are Rakia’s, so we should remove them…” “Oh, this too…”. We shouldn’t do bad things, so it was extremely awkward (Laugh).
The request for the Hapipare this episode was “helping with a basketball game”, where two supposed beginner part-timers and the company’s president take part in a basketball match.
Tumblr media
When we discussed the possibility of team sports during a scriptwriting meeting, we quickly arrived at the decision of basketball, which Shoji is experienced at!
Tumblr media
[TN: i had to delete another still of rakia ballin because i hit the image limit… that’s never happened before!]
The way he looks at the goal shines like a young basketball player! 💎 And he handled the ball like a pro.
The team that the Hapipare helpers joined is “Jieis”. It seems like a team comprised of self-employed [“jieigyō”] members! The opposing team was “Desk Workers”.
Tumblr media
The names of their teammates are Sakurai and Ugawa. Now’s the time for Jieis!! In that case, please continue to make requests to the Hapipare.
A Rich Daughter’s Whimsical Stroll
The person who heard Jeep’s voice as he stood still on a street in the Granute world is the president’s daughter, Lizel Jardak! Through the auditions for Lizel’s role, Erena Kamata was decided to play her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unrivaled ultra-slender style! Strong eyes that aren’t covered up by the ladylike ringlets! Her expressive role is supported by plenty of experience… This middle schooler (at the time she started the role) is scary!
Peculiar characters who join the battle midway through instantly become the center of attention. And on the set, the always-cheerful Kamata took hold of everyone’s hearts from day one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The selfish girl adored by her presidential father, Lizel, is far from scary, even in the scene where she meets the Stomach family.
Tumblr media
This shot is pure art!! And with that strength, we instantly had no choice but to make it the thumbnail for the trailer video.
It’s charming that when she stands next to Jiip, they’re aligned differently from when Jiip stood next to Siita. She has a lot of height from the fairly thick soles and heels on her tall boots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lizel was an audition role, so we weren’t looking for anyone in particular, but Jiip’s actor Koga already knows Kamata from having performed together many times before, so they were guaranteed to have a good connection. Please pay attention to how these newlyweds will mix up the story!
And now for the defender of Jiip and Lizel’s marriage, an important person who has appeared at the Stomach Company, Bocka Jardak.
Tumblr media
His suit actor is Masashi Takada, and he is voiced by Hiroshiki Yasumoto! Yasumoto served as the narrator for “Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger vs. Keisatsu Sentai Patranger”, so this is his second time in a show with Komura as the main writer, not to mention with Takada, who played Patren No.1, as well! And he has experience with costarring with Koga in anime too, so Jiip’s adoption into the family was almost predestined, in a way.
The Granute social structure is enveloped in mystery. When you ask if the Stomach Company is special, it seems like it isn’t… If anything, this development focuses on the fact that they have been monopolizing technology and information.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can tell just how much trouble Jiip is causing from how Lango has no choice but to bow in front of Bocka. How will the Stomach Company end up in the future?!
At Last, a Granute Appears!
The person this episode’s Granute transforms into is an old man who was watching the game at the gym. He is played by the Dachou Club’s Katsuhiro Higo!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is this the birth of a new duo with Director Morota?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even while recording voice-overs, a small Daikiri [?] tournament was held over what to say for a specific movement (Laugh). And Higo responded to that wonderfully. He seemed to make the director happy, so it was an extremely peaceful filming session. ✨
After these two were told about a suspicious guy, they find a man who lifts his disguise himself with a “Yaah”, and chase him down.
By the way, it might just be a really good-feeling forest to spread your legs in, but Wonder roadblocks are prohibited (Kiramager episode 26 reference).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gavv and Vram figure out each other’s play-style, and even while burning their hands on Ochiru, who nimbly jumps around the trees, they take turns landing constant blows.
Tumblr media
It’s the pair that reverses the coloring of their suits from the clothes they wear before transforming.
▼ Vram has obtained a log
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone, do you have the log? [TN: this sentence was written in english. i have no idea what it’s referencing.] Is this the dearly wished-for new weapon?! Vram has gotten tired and decided to show off his power. 🍮
What will the outcome of this battle be now that Lizel has barged in? Don’t miss the next episode!
Tumblr media
The kids who don’t see it… will complain! (This was their appearance after doing the scene 💦)

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 28 Production Blog
took a break to focus on enjoying the collective unconscious update… now i’m back baby (i think)
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this website
Looking at the Next Episode
Hanto has successfully powered up. His and Shoma’s smiles can be seen again, and their story has reached a conclusion. A new chapter begins in episode 29. Episodes 29 and 30 are directed by Satoshi Morota. Is everyone playing basketball together? What’s good if you play together with the “Hapipare” team? We decided on basketball because it’s Shoji’s specialty! Higo of the Dachou Club is the guest for this episode. This is a “Hapipare” job episode that seems fun as soon as you see it, but since it’s Kamen Rider, it doesn’t end there.
A new power appears on the enemy side as well. Surprisingly, Jiip reappears alongside the president of the Granute world and his daughter. Suddenly the scale of the conflict is much larger— the president’s here! Speaking of, Lango had said to Siita and Jiip that “you’ll be marrying into wealthy families as intermediaries with the Stomach family” (in episode 11).
As a new power structure has appeared, this arc is also about the Stomach family. Everyone in it is a unique and talented actor. They had a big impact even when they didn’t get much screen time, but Sawayama can appear in the show from now on. Please look forward to it! And, of course, Shoma and the others won’t lose either. Friendship and power-ups. There will be many happenings from here on out. Don’t miss the spring episodes of “Gavv”!

The Episode in Short
Hanto’s specialist researcher, Suga, transformed into Kamen Rider Bake in episode 27. The second half of the “soulful Sugihara arc” was a critical moment for both Hanto and Yusuke Hino!
His relationship with Suga has finally come to an end. And not only the relationship between Suga and Hanto, but also the one between Shoma and Hanto, who have been distancing themselves from each other for quite some time, briefly settles here. I think this episode serves as a big milestone in “Gavv’s” story.
The audio commentary with Hino and Asanuma currently streaming on TTFC (Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club) is also a must-see! Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club is here -> https://tokusatsu-fc.jp/

Chocolate Frappe Ties a Bond
Like the name he gave of “Soulful Sugihara Arc”, you can see Hino put his entire soul into episode 28. There were tons of retakes of the scene where he fell into hopelessness and despair because he felt responsible for Shioya’s death, and even while receiving a barrage of criticism, he stayed determined in his acting.
Tumblr media
Great job, Hino!
This scene had Shoma and Hanto pour their hearts out for the first time in a long time. Since the Tasaki episodes, right? The scene was specifically filmed in a very important location where their feelings intersect. (The brilliance of the surface of the water, like in the OP’s lyrics, is also great!)
I think Hanto has been confident up to now, but in this scene, Hanto shows his weakness for the first time and Shoma seems to cheer him up.

The chocolate frappe used in this scene happens to be the “Chocolixir” offered by GODIVA! Both Komura and the director experienced GODIVA’s Chocolixir beforehand, and came up with what Shoma would think according with that.
Even before filming, we had plenty of detailed briefing sessions with GODIVA while preparing for it. We thank them for their cooperation! The cast members also seemed to find it very delicious, especially given the fact that it was still warm outside at the time!

Grandpa Dente is the one who takes action to save the unwell Hanto. Within the room (cave) that Sachika dramatically transformed, he strives to remodel Rakia’s belt.
Dente is working hard! (But the Gochizo is unfinished)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kamen Riders use belts, and Bake is a Kamen Rider! [TN: this was a transition to another topic and i couldn’t make it work very well, sorry] Hanto finally makes his bike debut after a long time as a Kamen Rider. Hino happily took on this challenge of a bike-driving scene which he’d longed to do!

You’ve got to have motorcycles in Kamen Rider!

The Mad Scientist’s Hidden Side
Asanuma’s eerie-yet-fascinating performance in episode 27 gave viewers a strong impression and became a hot topic. His character, Suga, had many moments in this episode as well!
Throw cane aside -> Remove glasses -> Take out a Gochizo -> Bite -> Snap fingers -> Transform His amazing transformation sequence contains a sequence of many actions to do while saying his lines!
The way Suga says “Transform” is very uninterested, so this episode was also injected full of Suga’s essence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hidden room of Suga’s laboratory is reflected alongside Brahms’ classical music. Components of a child’s room that are out-of-place in a facility for cultivating Bitter Gavvs produce an ominous atmosphere with how much they stand out.
What is the relation between the state of this room and Suga’s ideal of “creating the ultimate lifeform”? Well, actually, prior to filming, Komura handed a note to Asanuma that provided information on Suga. The contents of that note are unclear, but Asanuma gave his performance in this episode with them in mind.

Birth of the Frappe Custom
“Gavv” has many sober action scenes, but this episode was especially full of it. They also received action training beforehand, but Chinen and Hino persevered through the flesh-and-blood fight against Bake under the guidance of Action Director Fujita on the set as well.
In this episode, Kaji, who plays the part of Valen’s actor, also served as a stunt double in the fight scene. Here’s the Hino and Kaji duo— they’re close in age and get along well! LOL

The name of the new Gochizo which Shoma creates and gives to Hanto is “Frappeis”. They’re twins, split into the cream part on top and the chocolate shake part on the bottom.
And many people were probably surprised by this part…
Th—they talked?!
Tumblr media
Yes, this Gochizo talks. And they’re noisier than I expected (Laugh).
The one eye on the top is the older brother, and the bigger guy on the bottom is the younger brother. We started from the idea that they’re two people, therefore they should be brothers, but then Director Sugihara had an idea to have the older brother lead the younger one along while speaking in Kansas dialect, and for the younger brother to act a little more like the older one!
Hiroki Shimowada provides the voice for Frappeis. At the auditions to determine Frappeis’ voice actor, we noticed that the range of his voice was very noteworthy. He voices the two brothers very skillfully. He didn’t have any written lines in the script for his voice-overs, so he created the jokester brothers with nothing but ad-libs. (Laugh)
Tumblr media
The one to transform with the power of this new Gochizo is Kamen Rider Valen Frappe Custom. This gorgeous design uses Valen’s red color in new places, and incorporates the gold from the crest on Frappeis all over the body. An important point is the drinking straw stuck in the back! This episode packs together both coolness and the delicious components of snacks!
Tumblr media
Smoke from dry ice was used in the transformation shot, and it shows the nice-and-cold feeling of the freshly-made Frappe.
Tumblr media
Frappe’s frozen attacks are also super cool, but Valen’s rough-and-tumble action remains! He’s strong enough to send the formidable opponent of Bake flying in one hit! And then there’s Valen’s trademark “drop-kick”!!! The gunfight inside the library was also an incredibly impressive scene of gun-Rider-on-gun-Rider action!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is Sugihara’s direction seen in the shot of the final blow that defeats Bake. Hanto’s action-comic-esque performance and Director Sugihara’s anime-like direction is truly incredible…!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the way, Hanto’s last line to Suga, “Bye, man,” was a line that the director and Hino came up with together during voiceover recording. He’s a horrible enemy, but this line shows that Hanto has many thoughts for Suga, who gave him his powers.
Tumblr media
In the last scene of episode 28, the habitual offender Nyelv appears once again. “Leave the rest to me”— He’s definitely got something bad planned!!! (Laugh)
Tumblr media
This filming day was Asanuma’s final day on the show! He didn’t receive flowers but instead a toy (the ValenBuster) (Laugh)
Tumblr media
An Added Bonus
Sugihara’s birthday was celebrated during this Sugihara episode. As a surprise, he received a paper written and drawn on by Chinen, Hino, Shoji, and Miyabe. It gives words of thanks to Director Sugihara, who is sometimes strict towards the cast but closer to them than anyone else.

You see it's quite simple: if they call the earth Gaia, it's fantasy. If they call it Terra, that's sci-fi
