When a comic shows someone going from a general femme look to a masc look, if the style of the artist supports the idea that this is a person transitioning from female to male, and if the entire conversation around the comic is about trans masculinity
If you make it about GNC women and argue it can be about anything because there's no trans flags/colors in sight, then you are part of the problem.

Need for references, resources and content about/by/for transmasculine people | Besoin de références, ressources et contenu sur/par/pour des personnes transmasculines [FR/ENG]
[ENG]
Hi there !
I'm proud to announce that I'm launching TransMascRessources, a website destined to host my translation, from english to french, of transmasc material. There's only one article on it for now, but I'm working on translating and making french subs for a short movie, and have other content planned.
So I wanted to ask if you people, had any recommendations of content that helped/helps you, that you find important and relevant.
Note: the term "transmasc" here is used broadly and on the base of self identification. I really don't care about if the authors or person mentioned did/want to/will/is medically transitionning nor do I care for the AGABs and so on. As long as the people involved think of themselves as transmasculine, go ahead.
The content can be anything from youtube videos, to articles, essays (as long as it's not a whole book as I'm working alone), short movies (30min or less), music etc.
Thank you very much !
Link of the website bellow.
[FR]
Merci beaucoup !

idk why do y'all only talk about trans women (and no It's not their faults, I have/hold no ill will towards them) when talking about trans people, y'all will see a picture of the trans flag and be like "omg protect the dolls!!" which is great and all but trans is an umbrella term??? Like it's not just trans women in the trans community...
Idk it wouldn't hurt to include trans men and trans mascs. Except y'all won't because you think we're stupid, dumb, confused girls... I genuinely think some of y'all just don't veiw trans men as men and veiw our gender and pronouns as optional for you to respect.
Yes trans women made huge impacts on the queer and trans community but, so did trans men. Just because kai/bug/arson/asher (straw man) uses he/they or it/it's and doesn't bind and wears dresses and makeup, doesn't mean you can just disrespect their and our identities because they don't fit your hetronormative standers of what it is to be a trans man/transmasc
Do better!!

if you’re a white creator and your brown/black characters are always sassy, reckless, aggressive or cold and your white characters are always soft, demure, shy and introverted you should think about maybe why you did that

this is going to be a generalized take, so please forgive me, but women are an underrated enforcer of femininity.
I’ve noticed this with hairdressers. multiple times I’ve gone to lady hairdressers and said “cut it all off,” and they’ve gone “hmm alright,” and basically just trimmed the split ends. meanwhile I can go to a dude and say “hey, can you make my hair slightly shorter?” and he’ll go “on it boss,” and shave me bald.
twice now, I’ve also had lady tattoo artists add pink to femme up a tattoo, despite that not being on the initial design.
god, also thinking about this brought back a memory. my mom once threw a fit because my shoes were “too masculine” (they were black women’s flats), saying that I’d upset my dad and ruin the formal event we were going to. I wore the shoes, my dad didn’t give a shit.
I dunno. it just feels like the misogyny is coming from inside the house sometimes.

btw you have to realize that there will be trans women who do not transition, who cannot transition, and do not want to transition, whether that is socially or medically or aesthetically or any combination of those. whether they like how they look or not, those girls will exist. and you dont get to belittle those women and girls for how they look or their choices in life, even if you are a trans woman and it makes you feel good because you hated your pre transition self or you’ve been hurt by men who look like that or whatever.

You know I’m not that big of a fan about how trans men’s experiences are still centered around cis women and that there is a lot of people think that trans men’s experiences are just being “treated like a women” instead of a unique thing that cis women don’t experience at all.

I'm begging other trans people to read an ounce of Black Feminist or Decolonialist Feminist writing. I'm on my hands and knees and begging you. I promise you, I promise you, there is so much more to Feminist theory than anything you have picked up from White/Radical/Pop/Liberal Feminism I promise you. Read There Is No Hierarchy Of Oppressions By Audre Lorde. I have a link to the PDF right here you can read it for free. Take my hand I can't do this alone (thanks glass beach). Peace And Love On Planet Earth.

Gotta be the one that says it, but 90% of y’all’s arguments against trans men and how we’re all gonna detransition and become terfs is literally recycled WORD FOR WORD transphobic rhetoric MADE BY TERFs against trans men, that also fuels things like forced detransition and forced pregnancy on us, along with making unsafe and unsupportive living environments for trans men and mascs
You all need to take a step back and look at what you’re saying and who you sound just like

Being an almost 30 year old trans man who came out in 2010, I have to say, trans men have always been left out of discussions. We have always been pushed aside and ignored. It's frustrating, but I came to terms with it long ago. However, I do not accept it. Growing up as a trans teenager in the US, we had very little representation. Any time one of us mentioned how we were discriminated against or that we experienced a hate crime, we were silenced.
Let's stop fucking fighting among ourselves and understand that the trans community as a whole suffers from transphobia. There is no sudden "earned privilege" by being a trans man. Trans men are not cisgender men, and therefore do not, and will not, experience the same privileges the patriarchy offers.
This, unfortunately, is not a new battle.

The longer I exist as a loudly proudly gay man the more I think that cishet men aren't actually attracted to women.

I'm not going to pretend for even a moment that people are "okay" with fictional men being bestowed with transfem headcanons, because they're not. people are so so very transphobic and transmisogynistic and No amount or kind of visible transness goes without pushback
BUT
I Do have a particular frustration with the very niche pool of people who are pro trans headcanons, and pro headcanoning men as trans fem, but are Against headcanon women as trans masc.
and not in the way of like. "I see myself in this character so it makes me uncomfortable to see these traits that I feel reflect myself recontextualized as a different gender identity than I have." that's, I think, a relatively normal reaction and a common example of conflicting needs within shared spaces. as long as you have an awareness of this being a personal thing on your end it's not Wrong to feel.
but I mean people who insist that it's Morally wrong to take characters who are women in their source material and interpret them as trans masc, as opposed to transing them in any other direction.
it's like people are setting up a scale in their head on how much representation is Worth, and deciding that trans masculine characters are worth Less than cis women.
headcanoning a man as trans fem is fine because it's adding to that character, but making a woman trans masc is taking something Away. which is like. I feel like we should be able to see the problem with that and how this attitude could negatively impact the ways that people treat and conceptualize REAL trans mascs right
there really is this problem where people will take parts of trans masculinity or the whole thing and say "this is unimportant when held up against the people who Really have value, and that's why it doesn't need to be seen or heard" and it makes me feel kind of insane when it's coming from places that Should understand why that's a fucked up thing to say or feel about trans people

Canon/Headcanon likelihood chart
So I've been thinking about @macdenlover 's "levels of headcanon" chart (about how heavily a HC is influenced by canon), so I decided to make my own scale about how likely a HC is to be true (including different levels of canon) using queer cartoon characters as examples :)
I just spent an hour making this because I was bored. Enjoy. Image description under the cut.
Tumblr media
Inspiration:
ID courtesy of @hatreds-og-imagedescriptions (thank you!!)
[ID: a chart going from 10 to 1, with explanations of the ratings on the left and images of characters with queer flags and descriptions of said characters on the right.
10: "Explicit canon. Clearly stated in the original media." Trans Barney from Dead end Paranormal Park. "Barney says "I'm transgender"".
9: "Implicit canon. Never explicitly stated, but 100% canon in the original media". Nonbinary Raine from The Owl House. "Raine never says "I'm nonbinary," but uses they/them and is never referred to as a man/woman (also, confirmed by Dana)".
8: "Creator confirmation. Never stated in the original media, but confirmed canon by the media's creator". Aroace Lilith from The Owl House. "While never mentioned/implied in TOH, Dana has confirmed that Lilith is aroace".
7: "Heavily implied. Never confirmed, but likely true (either by canon evidence or creator implication)". Genderfluid Nimona from Nimona. ""Aaand now you're a boy" "I am today" (anyway, the whole movie has trans/GNC themes)".
6: "Possibly implied. Hinted at in the original media, but could be explained as something else". Trans Doofenschmirtz from Phineas and Ferb. "Doof COULD be transmasc, or the whole "raised as a girl" thing could just be for the bit".
5: "Fanon. Never confirmed, but generally accepted by the fandom". Aromantic Alastor from Hazbin Hotel. "While only confirmed to be ace, most of the fandom also sees Alastor as aromantic".
4: "HC with evidence. Headcanons supported by a dedicated fan's detective work". Bisexual Mabel from Gravity Falls. "People have noticed bi flag stickers hidden on Mabel's scrapbooks".
3: "Canon neutrality. Could be true, could be false, but overall makes sense and doesn't contradict the original media". Genderqueer Pleakley from Lilo and Stitch. "Maybe Pleakley is genderqueer, maybe he just wanted to crossdress for the mission, who knows? That's why it's a headcanon."
2: "I made it the fuck up. Based on vibes, has absolutely nothing to do with canon". Bisexual Megamind from Megamind. "No evidence, no explanation, he just has Disaster Bi™ vibes".
1: "Um? No? But go off. Directly contradicts canon (but who cares, that's why it's fun)". Trans Stanley Pines from Gravity Falls. "Even though flashback scenes prove Stan is AMAB, some people HC him as transmasc." End of ID.]

I think it's telling that a white dude telling people not to donate to trans charities under the grounds that they'll help more "tme people" (trans men and enbans). bc trans charities certainly aren't going to cis ppl so they need to just say trans men and nb) has reblogs from a blog that says don't interact if you think cultural appreciation is real. Even as a joke it's distasteful and shows your white ass to the room. Crackers suck.
