GW2 Adventurer Challenge - Remastered

So, since I'll be playing this again on stream, I figured I should rewrite this with some improvements

Immersion, roleplay, slowing down and smelling the roses, redicsovering your love for the game, especially the very, very old core game - think of it like a GW2 nuzlocke challenge. You're encouraged to take screenshots and keep an In-character diary! Use the #gw2adventurerchallenge tag or just tag me directly if you do!

Setup: - Make a new character. - Once you exit your starting instance, turn around and go to your capital city. Buy or craft a few buff food items, then return to your starting map.

THE RULES

Permadeath. If you fully die, the challenge is over. If you get rezzed, let your character rest for the rest of the (ingame) day.

No tomes, no WvW/PvP, no crafting except for cooking (and that not for levels, but to make buff food).

No mounts, except to jump/fly up to annoying Vistas you struggle with.

You can only waypoint if you stand near another waypoint. Asura Gates are allowed.

You must always be under the effects of buff food as soon as you can (I think the level requirement is at least 10)

During the ingame night cycle, you must find a place to shelter at (Lionguard haven, tavern, tent, little cave, whatever) and emote /sleep once

You must use outfits or spend transmutation charges to dress for the climate that you're in

The biggest changes here were the rules regarding level tomes (does it really make sense to play this if you can sit your ass down in a library and spam tomes?) and the nighttime rule (why on earth would I make you STOP playing during nighttime? Am I on crack?)

fr i think my mental health would improve by 90% if i didnt have to deal with this financial shit, the sturggle for housing, and all of this

i made barely enough to scrape by, overdrawing my account every single month working for this garbage company that sucked me dry of energy and joy

and now that im unemployed, i get hit with the "lol yeah find a new apartment in three months haha" in the fucking 700€ for 15 square meters city that i live in

and while i know that the city still owes me money, but if im mad unlucky, theyll send that to the first of may, meaning, ill have to live until then on literally nothing, and not even have enough to pay rent + bills + loan repayments next month

Asura hcs that I live by in my settings:

MOST asura are lactose intolerant. This stems from having been a race from deep underground that didn't have access to cow or dolyak milk until they came to the surface permanently after the loss of the six original cities. Much of the "milk" used in asuran cooking nowadays comes from other sources, like almonds and oats, but there are intrepid asura trying to invent the Tyrian version of lactaid.

The asuran language has no gendered words. Being a strict meritocracy with zero emphasis on gender or gender roles, asura don't really care much about the gender of another person in the grand scheme of things. It isn't uncommon for asuran sexualities to be very fluid, and of course homosexuality exists for them as much as anyone else, but as far as in their culture, your gender is something that is on your paperwork and can be changed whenever you like. Coming out as trans is a lot easier when it's "That's great, New Daughter, now let's finish your homework quick because the line at the Gender Record Office is gonna be about twenty people deep and I don't want to miss Tyrian Jeopardy."

Albinism and leucism are very common among asura. It's really common in cave dwelling species to exhibit much higher rates of albinism, and I don't think it's any different for asura (or skritt, for that matter). It's probably seen as something incredibly attractive and desirable, despite the negative effects that come from living on the surface where the sun is a deadly laser. It just shows you have very strong ancestry.

The Inquest still speaks "old" Asuran and doesn't use New Krytan unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. Seeing as how they're an Asura On Top organization, this just makes sense to me. Why would they BOTHER to speak New Krytan? That's the language of inferiors, as far as they're concerned. As such, if you want someone to translate something from the time of the exodus that has terminology and structure that's become obsolete, best find yourself someone in the Inquest. It's part of the reason they've remained relevant in asuran politics, despite being hated by much of the populace.

Viva Vendetta is finally starting up again after a bit of a hiatus (due to me moving house)

What is Viva Vendetta?

We are an MMO-style play by post discord server, using Vampire: the Masquerade V5, run by one Storyteller and a mod (who also plays), centered around the city of Freiburg. The "Vendetta" part hails from the PBP's history - we started in Vienna, were overrun by Freiburg, and then took their Domain in revenge.

The city is ruled by a (heavily adapted) Prince Mithras, The Maestro of Europe, and a Samedi Anarch Baron, all somewhat working together. (There's also Sabbat. But we don't talk about the Sabbat.) Now, the story starts up again with loyalists of the former Nosferatu Prince, the grief for a lost home infested with Second Inquisition, and plenty of V.tM-typical political shenanigans ready to be explored.

The Battle of Claw Island was a disaster. With all five racial representatives dead, Trahearne meets with Steward Gixx and Zojja back in Lion's Arch while the Risen cast a long shadow on the shores. They're running out of options fast, but when a sly young Inquest soldier shows up offering his age, will they be desperate enough to accept his help? Is it worth it for the fate of all of Tyria?

“This is an unmitigated disaster. Sieran, dead. Tebb, dead! All the representatives that the rest of them brought… all of them are dead.” Zojja pressed her fingertips to her temples as she felt Leyya’s hand rest against her shoulder. She hadn’t even meant to be here at all; she had more important things to be doing. But Gixx’s message had been urgent, and so they had come back as soon as they could manage. “How could this even happen?!”

Gixx just shook his head as he folded his arms. He looked forlorn, and it wasn’t like anyone could blame him. Sieran, for all her empty-headedness, had been well loved in the Priory, and Tebb had the sort of everyman vibe that seemed to just get on well with everyone he met. “It certainly wasn’t meant to, Zojja, I assure you. But it leaves us with a conundrum- Trahearne has told us the situation on Claw Island, and it is dire. We must find a way to retake the island, but with Tebb and the others dead… and now Lion’s Arch itself is in jeopardy! I’ve a way to stop it for now, but…”

Zojja’s brow furrowed further as Trahearne finished the steward’s comment. “...we’ve no one to complete the ritual. Gixx has an Idol of Balthazar. It imbues the user with the power of the human god of war, allowing them to gain power through the defeat of their enemies. It will allow them to uncover the unseen.”

“So we use this idol and it’ll help us keep those things out of Lion’s Arch? Give us time to stop the rise of the dragon?” Lowering her hands, Zojja let out a soft breath through her nose. “What are the risks?”

Shrugging, Gixx flipped his hand into the air. “Oh, the usual things. Murder. Mayhem. Losing control of one’s self and becoming a raging vessel of some fiery wrathful creature’s anger and fury upon Tyria itself? It requires a great deal of strength. Tebb… would have been perfect.”

“If we need someone to do this, Zo, I can.” Leyya’s grip tightened on her companion’s shoulder. “We don’t have a lot of options, and we’re running short on time.”

Immediately, Zojja’s head snapped up. “No! No, abs- absolutely not, Leyya, this is dangerous enough. We’ve already lost every other racial representative, three representatives of the Orders, I am not… going to lose you too.” Sucking in a breath as she put her hand over Leyya’s, Zojja gave her head a slow shake. “Do we have anyone here that might fit the bill?”

All their gazes swept over the assembled Priory members. The meek looking little asura healer helping a sylvari with Mira. A handful of magisters discussing the ritual. No one of all that much interest. Gixx sighed, folding his arms. “Afraid not. Kippa is far too valuable as a healer, and I don’t dare pull Gwella from assisting her. We’ll need Kekt, Lhon, Gunhild and the others there for the ritual. Unless you have another Savant hiding under your skirts, Zojja, I’m afraid we may have to hope the other orders have better options.”

For a moment, no one spoke, Gixx only moving when the asuran healer came over to update him on Mira’s condition. As they spoke, some commotion rose among the nearby magisters, and everyone’s eyes instead fell on another figure approaching: he was a tall asura, taller than any Gixx or Zojja had seen in recent memory, and broad shouldered, with eyes that glowed brightly in a scarred face. Long hair pulled back into a ponytail, a charr stalking along behind him…

But the thing everyone noticed more than almost anything else was what he wore: the stark black, red, and white of the Inquest.

EXTRA DETAILS

Cowboy Theme: that one camping, bring what you have on hand, event I'd been planning two years ago. Your character, be they a cowboy or not, would be attending an in-character event hosted by Sparrow Quickdraw. The only specification is that you bring what you normally carry around on an honor system. Sparrow's not gonna ask but he will find it weird if you claim to carry around a whole portable kitchen. I had originally planned to spin a few wheels or roll some dice for OH NO events happening like a sandstorm or animal attacks or smth.

Nightmare Court Theme 1: Courtiers are gathered for a fancy-shmancy gala. Set before HoT, the Duke of Torment was chosen by Faolain to host. Mingle with your fellow Courtiers, maybe try to form alliances between courts.

Nightmare Court Theme 2: A tournament to attempt to become the Grand Duke/Duchess. Set after HoT, some courtiers are battling for the rank. Others are just enjoying the show. Either way, probably going to contain RP PvP which will likely include wheels or dice.

Spooky Theme: Get your ghosts and ghouls and vampires and your etceteras, we've got some spooky hanging out to do. Talk about how you bit the dust or how you've been surviving as a vampire for however long you've been around. Monster hunters NOT invited.

Specifics about the events will be altered if they're hosted on EU; the cowboy event is specifically for NA since Sparrow only exists on NA and I do not have a cowboy on EU. Sad cowboy noises.
