Shinobu had been tailing Giyuu around Headquarters for about an hour.

Poke. Poke. Poke.

She'd been intent on getting him to speak to her, even having a conversation if possible. He was always so gloomy, and his self-isolation tendencies certainly weren't helping. She was going to get him to open up no matter how many pokes it took.

Poke. "Beautiful weather, isn't it, Tomioka?"

Poke. "Why so serious, Tomioka?"

Poke. "Would you like to learn how to poison, Tomioka?"

He kept walking, not showing any sign that he even knew she was there. His unresponsiveness was both infuriating and intriguing at the same time. Was he walking faster? His haori was now billowing behind him.

There is no escape from this, Tomioka.

She sped up so she could walk next to him. Poke. "Are you planning on murdering me in the woods, Tomioka? Is that why you're walking faster?"

He didn't even look at her, keeping his blank blue eyes fixed on the ground.

"If you could bury me afterwards so the furry animals don't devour my corpse, that would be delightful."

No reaction. Just kept walking. How irritating.

She swiftly stepped in front of him, preventing him from moving forward.

"Girls never go for gloomier men, you know. Can you speak, Tomioka? Can you smile?" She poked the corner of his mouth.

Poke. Poke. Po-

He grabbed her hand.

Finally, something to work with. Maybe she'd finally annoyed him enough and he'd say something.

He bent down slightly so they were face-to-face. He slowly raised his other hand and gently pressed his finger to her lips.

A smile flickered across his face.

"Poke."
