Canada had given him his life as he knew it, but it had never felt one hundred percent comfortable, either. He missed Russia sometimes, but it didn’t have the thing that mattered most. Ilya had exactly one home, and it was this: his face pressed into a smooth chest, his head tucked under a strong jaw, with freckled arms wrapped around him and delicate fingers combing through his hair. Anywhere else was a temporary excursion.

A treatise on second (and third) languages, homesickness, acceptance, Shane's struggle learning Russian, and the things people do when they care.

Talking about Regina had made Shane remember all the places this could've gone wrong. All the times he'd meant to call this thing off and lost his nerve, all the times Ilya had done the same. All the moments they nearly drifted apart, months spent without a text, meetup, or word. But here they were. Married and snuggling in a hotel bed. Every breath Shane took was affected with the sharp, addicting scent of his husband's cologne. The ending felt like fate, but Shane knew that it wasn't. They had fought desperately for every scrap of happiness in their life. They'd earned this. from Absolutely Not (23,735 words)

A series of canon-compliant Hollanov oneshots that (mostly) take place post The Long Game. Mostly lighthearted, with a variety of different stories from both Shane and Ilya's POV. They all take place in the same universe; however they all are written to work as standalones.

“If a horse is stolen from you, is it not still yours?” Laurent scoffed, turning away from the table. “You’re not in possession of it.” Damen pressed on. “But if the man who stole it was caught, he’d be put to death, and the horse would be returned. It still belongs to you.”

Damen thinks it didn't count. Laurent knows it did.

Ilya was standing at the fridge in his underwear, snacking. Grazing. He made it halfway through the punnet before he was caught. "Did you even wash those?"

Shane thought about it, a lot more than he should've. And it showed. It showed in the way he'd begged Ilya to sell his Ducati the summer they got married. It showed in the number of times he'd had to calm his racing mind when Ilya took twenty minutes longer than expected at the grocery store. It showed in his heaving breaths, now. He was sitting up in his bed, his husband sleeping peacefully next to him, and he felt like he was on the edge of a panic attack.

The plane didn't crash, and Ilya didn't die.

Shane still feels the aftershocks.

Shane would always be yearning for something with a man who didn't want him, wouldn't he? A little positive attention and he'd folded like origami. Pathetic. "Stay," Rozanov said. It sounded like pleading. That trick had worked on him, once. “Why?" Shane's tone was more biting than he intended. "What do you think is going to happen if I stay? Are you gonna make me a goddamned tuna melt?” Rozanov, to his credit, took the words like the blow they were. His eyes widened, then he covered his face with his palms and muttered something in Russian. Shane had never seen shame written across those features before.

In April 2017, Shane Hollander suffers the most painful not-breakup he’ll ever experience. Months later, he's outed. Two years after that, a broken knee ends his career.

When Rozanov unexpectedly crosses Shane's path four years later, Shane resolves to be courteous yet keep his distance. But Ilya is just as beautiful and charming as he ever was, and he’s determined to give what they'd once shared a second chance. A real chance.

It's a bad idea. Shane knows it's a bad idea.

The terrifying thing is that it doesn't feel like one.

Trojans again! They all fell asleep after the four match Jean insisted on putting or smth like that.

I'm putting the decor version as well, cause I did it entirely and wouldn't want that carpet to be left unseen (I had to do the bg fully cause i couldn't figure out the perspective with their gigantic bodies - then i got carried away). This and the papasan chair, obviously.

Had a lot of fun on this one.

8 years ago, I slid into @xiaq 's inbox to talk about hockey and goats, and we're still going strong! There are genuinely times in my life where I don't know what I would have done if she hadn't been there for me, and I'm looking forward to another 20 years of doing the same for her.
