I found an old post that had the core 4 banners from (I assume) the store with Patton Roman Logan and Virgil’s individual logos. These were from a bit before my time. The background symbols all have meanings so I’m going to attempt to explain them!

Here we go!

Patton’s Symbols

- Dog doodle (like the dog face emoji 🐶)

- Bitten cookie

- Rainbow

- Halo Smiley face 😇 (‘cause he’s an angel)

- Holding hands 🤝 emoji (friendship)

- Heart 🩵

- Scales of Justice ⚖️ (lawyer it up)

- Compass (it’s supposed to mean his ‘moral compass’ the direction he takes to do what’s right)

- Participation ribbon (from WDWGOOBITM)

Roman’s Symbols

- Fanfare trumpet (specifically the kind played before royalty make their entrance)

- Knight chess piece (Roman calls himself a knight, the piece symbolizes chivalry, tactics, and unconventional thinking in the game, reps his creativity as well)

- Shield (represents his logo)

- Gem (is in the shape of a double terminated rose quartz, this might be a Steven Universe reference too but I might be reaching lol)

- Down pointed sword (symbolizes peace , victory or end of conflict)

- Long flag on a pole (medieval flag of a knight)

- Diamond ring (represents romance and love, desire for a partner)

- Pawn chess piece (may be weakest piece but are stronger together and can become a queen (strongest piece in chess)if they reach the end of the board; it’s there to show Roman has to work hard to get to where he needs)

- Castle (matches the one on his logo)

- Banner flag (also matches the one on his logo) might also rep his red sash

- Crown on hair (Royal status)

Virgil’s Symbols

- Frown face, broken heart, scribbles (could be punk/emo (band) doodles but I couldn’t find if they were for something specific)

- Alternate meaning to scribbles could be symbol for Aquarius ♒️ which is Janus’ zodiac sign OR journal writing (journal entries seen behind Virgil in Moving On Part 2)

- Brain with lightning above (could represent a headache, mood swing or anxiety attack, definitely something in the ‘brain hurty’ category)

- Cloud (storm)

- Raindrops (more Storm symbols)

- X and skull symbols (I think that particular x is from a Green Day album)

- Semi-colon ; (reps depression, mental health, suicide awareness, it means ‘your story isn’t over’)

- Chemical compound symbol for serotonin (it regulates sleep, mood, and appetite, something Virgil needs regularly)

Logan’s Symbols

- E=mc2 (energy & mass are interchangeable… SCIENCE!)

- ? and ! symbols (reps asking questions and comprehension)

- Owl face (wise bird)

- Infinity symbol ♾️ (math term)(also could mean his work is never finished)

- Down pointing arrow (not 100% sure but I think it’s referring to logical NOR, in Boolean logic (branch of algebra), which is a truth function operator (which is what Logan reps: logic and truth))

- Alternatively the ‘down arrow’ could also be just a pencil ✏️ and I’ve made a mountain out of a molehill lmao

- Graduation cap with tassel (reps school completion)

- √☓ Square root of x (basic math problem)

- Bright light bulb (symbolic of having a good idea)

- Imaginary number symbol (Cursive ‘i’ in math)

- Computer monitor (for doing work)

- Glasses 👓

- ABC (he’s a teacher)

These are not 100% correct but Thomas and Joan I have no doubt wanted us to guess. I don’t know if they’ll be explained or have been explained in full but if they have, let me know! Or let me know what you think the symbols mean! Thanks for reading!

god. janus sanders really is a character of all time, just in terms of concept. when you were a little kid, you did something wrong, and you got so scared of getting in trouble that another little guy was born inside you. and he loves you. and he wants you to stay safe. so he tells you to lie now, take care of yourself now, keep yourself safe. but all the other little guys inside you hate him. he's too mean, too selfish. the little guy that was born from your desire to do good and be good hates him the most, because you're a little catholic boy, and lying is bad. and you're a good boy. so everything inside you that isn't good has to be shut away.

he knows he's not wanted. he creates his own place to stay, a hidden corner where he can't hurt you. because all the others say that he'll end up hurting you, and he can see how scared you are of being a liar, so he lets himself be forgotten. hidden away. this is how he shows his love: by hiding himself, and every subsequent unwanted part that grows inside you, from you. if knowing about their existence is too difficult for you, then he'll hide them all. he loves you. you don't even know his name.

he watches you grow, still unaware of his existence. the others make their presence known, felt. you let them take the reigns, most of the time. he sneaks in his own little influence here and there; small, harmless lies, only when necessary, so you won't even notice. and in the meantime, he acts as a herder of sorts for all the other parts of yourself that you've subconsciously cast away. he keeps them in line. he sympathizes with them, yes, he knows what it's like to be unwanted. but letting you see them would hurt you, and he loves you. so he keeps them there, in the shadow, unknown and unseen, just like him.

one of them, one of his little dark, unwanted things, doesn't want to be hated anymore. he wants to make himself known. he wants a seat at the table. and, in an ultimate slap to the face for janus, he gets it. virgil gets everything that janus was denied from the start. acceptance. power. control. his effort is acknowledged, his necessity is embraced. he gets a seat at the table. he doesn't have to hide anymore. and janus can't help but resent him for that. maybe it's a good thing, then, that the hatred is mutual. not even his own cattle, the ones he kept safe, the ones he kept out of thomas' way, can stand his presence. fine. none of it matters. as long as you're safe, it was all worth it. he loves you. you still don't even know his name.

janus was always thomas' protector. even when none of it was ever seen or acknowledged.

i find his mixed motif really interesting too, because before we knew his name, we only knew him as deceit. the snake. the ancient serpent deceiver, the biblical snake of eden. but then we hear his name. janus. ianus bifrons, two-faced janus, god of beginnings, passage, transitions. i think that his name being revealed was very much the start of thomas beginning to see janus for who he actually is, instead of the heavily modified version of him that he's been seeing, courtesy of his catholic upbringing.

Scare Care

Chapter One: Poltergeist in the Parlor

Virgil had a very strange job.

He’d had a few odd jobs by now, just taking whatever would pay - pizza delivery, helpdesk, dog walking (he did actually like that one; it’s how he met his best friend) - But as he stood with a notebook in yet-another stranger’s living room, he couldn’t help but figuratively step back and realize the sheer absurdity of his situation.

“I can’t believe I’m arguing with a poltergeist about Disney movies,” he said, pinching his nose.

“Anyway! We’re getting off-track,” Virgil looked down at his notepad, skimming the section ‘Reason for Call.’

Thomas, his client, had put in a call last week - A skeptic (like Virgil’s roommate - though that seemed to be where the similarities ended), he sounded like many other skeptics he’d heard calling in - Confused, anxious…

Desperate.

He didn’t blame them, really - any of them. Some customers were assholes, true, but ignorance? Fear? That he could help with.

A lot of the time, it didn’t even take anything particularly special to resolve the paranormal problems he was called for - If it was dangerous, then yeah, he could call in backup - But usually, it was a matter of having just enough otherworldly knowledge to understand the problem, and the patience and empathy to guide his clients toward a solution.

…he was still working on that last part.

He had a fancier title on his resume, but Virgil liked to think of his job as an underglorified paranormal help desk or field tech.

Though, to be fair, the computer-based field techs were underglorified, too.

God, he was glad to be out of that job.

Thomas’ case was, luckily, a simple one-

“Ugh, fine - I suppose, if you- we can’t agree on the best prince, then… how about ‘Which movie has the best songs?’”

Well. Mostly.

“Black Cauldron.”

Virgil took the beat of sweet, blessed quiet to pivot towards Thomas. “When did this all start?”

Over the prince-preoccupied-poltergeist’s sputtering, Thomas answered, “Since I moved in! Before, even - I don’t remember exactly when.”

Roman scoffed, crossing his arms. “Try ‘ever since I ruined the perfect arrangement of an innocent, handsome, good-taste-having man’s antique furniture collection!’ ” he said, theatrically imitating and exaggerating Thomas’ mannerisms.

Sometimes Virgil regretted not going after that banishment cert.

He sighed - The old-fashioned way it was.

…Talking. Gross.

“Furniture?” He questioned toward Thomas.

“I- I mean, yeah? I moved the couches a bit?”

“A BIT?!” Princey screeched. “You shoved them! My darling babies almost ended up in the kitchen - and that is no place for antique leather!”

Virgil blinked confusedly, looking at the layout of the apartment.

While the kitchen and living room were next to each other, there was a partial corner and a half-high-wall/breakfast counter… thing, decidedly blocking the way into the kitchen.

Also, surprisingly, Roman was right - a kitchen was no place for a couch.

So why…?

Thomas, seeing the confusion written on their faces (and indignation, in Roman’s case), looked away sheepishly, rubbing his neck.

“I… may… have been… trying… to make a blanket fort.”

The princely poltergeist let out what Virgil could only describe as a squeal. “Oooh! That sounds fun!”

He clapped his hands twice - For the theatrics, Virgil assumed, since poltergeists didn’t have to use somatic elements for most interactions - and began moving the furniture around the living room.

Virgil and Thomas exchanged looks that said “Seriously?” and “Eh, works for me,” respectively.

Well. At least that was resolved.

Now onto the second-worst part: On-site paperwork.

“So- uh. You guys are good, then?” Virgil asked.

Thomas popped his head up from behind a couch where he was tucking in the corner of a blanket.

“Huh? Oh, uh. Yeah!” Thomas grinned.

“Awesome.” He opened his bag that he’d left on the end of the banister, and took out a clipboard and form after filling out a few fields. “I just need a signature, then I’ll be out of your hair.”

Thomas grunted as he stood up, and Virgil handed him the form. “I know a bunch of other places do this all digital, but we gotta keep it old-school ‘cause of electronic interference.”

“Also,” Virgil kept going despite himself, “I’ve read through everything, it’s just a statement of work done, reaffirmation of the disclaimer on the website, stuff like that.”

He gestured vaguely with one hand as Thomas signed and dated the paper with the pen Virge had tied to the clipboard. “I mean, I’m no lawyer, but it all looks fine to me.”

“No, yeah, I trust you,” Thomas said off-handedly as he finished.

Virgil mentally stumbled backwards for a moment before replying.

“I- cool. Yeah,” Virgil rubbed the back of his neck as he took the offered clipboard. “Thanks.”

Virgil mostly tuned out Thomas and Roman’s excited chattering as he slid the clipboard back into his bag, and slipped the strap over his head to rest on his shoulder - something about a marathon?

“Hey, uh-“ Thomas started, noticing Virgil gearing up to leave. “Thank you,” he grinned. “That was really cool!”

Huh. Most people thought it was scary or weird. Satanic panic and all that.

“I - Thanks,” Virgil said, not sure how to respond.

“Oh, yeah, also,” he said, fishing into his hoodie pocket for a scrap of paper (hoodies weren’t regulation, but some rules were stupid).

“That spell probably won’t last through a whole marathon - ‘bout two hours, how I did it,” he continued, writing some info on the back of the receipt he got from a Thai place last week.

“You could just call us back out, but - between you and me,” he handed the note over, “You��d get more bang for your buck with a kit from the coven on Stoughton Street - ask for Nicole, tell her I sent ya.”

Thomas grinned as they walked towards the door - seriously, how did he keep doing that?? “Awesome-sauce! Thank you, Virgil!”

God, this guy’s almost as much of a goober as Patton. He couldn’t help but chuckle as he stepped outside. “Thanks, Thomas.”

“No, thank you!”

Virge turned around once he buckled on his helmet, grabbed his bike and stepped off the porch, and gave Thomas a two-finger salute, which he returned.

“See ya,” he said, mounting his bike.

As Virgil pedaled away, watching the sunset, he couldn’t help but wonder if he’d see Thomas again.

He hoped he would.

Hey guys, I hate to do this again to all of you but I really need some help on the financial side.

So right now, I'm essentially responsible for my grandmother's budget because some emergency stuff popped up on her kids's side (basically my aunts, uncles, and etc.) that they can't send some financial aid for her for a while.

So here's the sitch. Work's been pretty difficult lately and I'm paying also paying for a lot of other stuff on the side as well (stuff like my health, house maintenance, bills, etc.) so basically shit's fcked and whatever amount I am currently earning is not enough to keep all of that up.

I would really appreciate however much help you guys can give through my ko-fi.

In case you are asking, whatever I'll get I'm going to spend buying supplies for my grandmother since she needs a lot of stuff like diapers (she goes through more than fourty packs per month...), underpads, hemorrhoid wipes and ointment, eyedrops, and more. Ace's All Time Best Fic Rec List March 2025: Sanders Sides

I'm just going to borrow the format I've been using for the other fandoms I rec fics in. These are just fics I really liked and want other people to read. I didn't start taking note of them when I started reading so I might have missed some. If a fic isn't on here it doesn't mean that I don't like it, and please feel free to rec me fics!

One thing to note is that the way I tend to read fics is to pic a tag or relationship or character etc. and filter by date posted, ascending on ao3 so I start at the beginning and work my way to more recent fics and then obviously any on Tumblr I simply read if they manage to find me. Tumblr search is not fantastic. That is to say, most of the fics currently on my list are going to be older. Also if the rating is M or higher, I have that listed in my little description of it so you'll know before clicking.

Also, also! I tried to only have one or two from the same author so there are likely other works by the people who wrote these that I liked but didn't list, I just didn't want this to be three miles long, yk?

And last little blurb, I try to do these once or twice a year with different fics on each list, but I always use the aatbfrl tag so you'll be able to search my blog for them.

Btw, there's no specific link I'm adding to this entry other than to the blog, but if you somehow haven't seen @illogicallyinclined's hockey AU I need you to get out from under the rock you've been calling shelter, and I mean this with all of the love in my heart.

Lie With Me- Both Janus and Patton need therapy. If you want to actively be dealt psychic damage, this is a good one.

Bad Idea- Roman and Janus are fwb and aren't supposed to catch feelings. Well guess what? Rated M for iMplied sexual content.

No Need To Knock- Roman reaches out a hand and Virgil takes it. Very sweet besties moment.

Florida Man Cannot Be Contained- "Contrary to popular belief, Remus is not the menace of the friend group. It's Patton." Author is correct.

Friendly Neighborhood Criminals- Patton gets adopted into a trio of criminals who took one look at his life and said 'You live like this? Well we can't in good conscience rob you now.' and decided to make him their pet project. (WIP)

once you're in the hive, the other bees assume you're supposed to be there- "Virgil accidentally gets absorbed by his best friend's brother's polycule." That's the official tag line and what more do you need, really? (WIP)

Love is a Beach- Moceit fake dating your ex that you're still in love with bc you didn't tell your friends you broke up yet and you're all going on a trip together. This could not possibly go wrong in any way. (WIP)

Clutters of Creativity- Roman clutters (the speech disorder) and this is how I learned that I too clutter which alone makes it worth sharing, but this is also cute as hell. Remus and Logan are v supportive.

Snap- Roman angst hurt/comfort Roceit&creativitwins we don't have to talk about how much I related to this one, but if you want to have a good cry, this one's for you.

The Only One that Knows- A lot of trigger warnings, but Logan is a scientist at a shady organization that burned down and the experiment he was managing starts acting up in his home. I think about this all the time, just the way it's written it's soooo good. Rewired my brain. Rated M for Mlots of gore/blood/body horror and Mental health problems and Major character death.

i picture it, soft, and i ache- Janus falls in love with Patton and has a time about it. And then he has a different time about it. V cute with just the right amount of angst.

Silence- Selectively mute Logan and extremely anxious Virgil work through some stuff and it's cute or whatevah. And maybe I relate a little too much but it's fine, don't worry about it.

Cracks in the Ceiling- Logan helps Virgil and they're just besties and I love them.

Mission Status: Sick!- Inspired by the hockey AU, I'm just going to copy paste the tagline bc I think you'll understand. "'It's a good thing that my homosexuality is stronger than my pride', Virgil thought as he opened a capri sun and violently squeezed it onto his sheets." Analogical.

glow like a fireflower- Deceit is a dork. Roman is... also a dork. They're dramatic and silly and working through some stuff and Remus has to hear about it but he gives great advice (lie).

Noi Abbiamo Un Problema- LAMP soulmates with a side of dukeceit. Virgil is the last to join the group but they seem to be expecting a fifth... who is also Virgil. They're a little dense and Virgil is anxious and Remus and Janus are real ones. I love Virgil's mom.

like copper and gold- Rated E for explicit sex and a lot of it. I fucking bawled dude. This fic tore my heart out and then put it back in ever so gently. More of Deceit making bad decisions. roloceit.

The Gold of Your Heart- Look, I read this whole thing a while ago and I still think about it so I feel like it's worth adding to the list. Deceit's name is Tony. A bunch of OC sides and headcanons in here but they're very fun and interesting. 200k+ Roceit slow burn.

Distant Stars Clearly Shining- Prinxiety sci-fi AU featuring smut it's a 10k one shot with significant plot and world building.

Eustress and How to Manage It- Ok, so they're dorks. Prinxiety being adorable dorks. So fluffy. (There's a spicy sequel out there too.)

Help In Unlikely Ways- My boy Janus is just doing his best oml. He's bad at it.

I'm In Love With A Fairytale- Look, it's 117k. And it's fun. Well I mean it's really angsty, but that's fun for me. It takes place in the imagination. Look at it. Rated M for violence.
