I wanted you to hold me , I wanted you and I cried for you , and I hated you because I would’ve chosen you no matter what and you took that away from me

hello, yes, I’m still alive and I’m okay :) if you’ve been following my blog lately you’ve probably noticed several consecutive highs and lows I’ve been going through… 2020 sure is a Year, isn’t it? through the war that is up keeping mental health during a pandemic, I’ve learned a couple of things:
I’m a brave person. I’m a kind person. I’m a smart person. I’m capable of change. therapy is nothing to be ashamed of. call your friends, even if you don’t feel like it; you know you always feel better afterwards. spend some time outside (masked, of course). eat foods that make you feel good. exercise. meditate. journal. dance. start talking to yourself like you would your best friend. canceling things is ok. mourning is ok. take a day off every once in a while. sleep well; rest and self-care are needed to be a part of the movement. things will work out, and they do work out eventually. have faith. pray. dream big. laugh. have hope. stand up. take a breath. look forward.
now playing:

little things to do every day:
open your window and feel the air
make lists
hug someone
splash some water on your face
spend a few minutes without any screens
always have water with you
doodle
clean one thing that’s messy/dirty
compliment someone
be kind to yourself

28.07.20 / happy tuesday. i was going through my planner today because the month’s almost over and i wanted to see if i’ve made progress at all. i think i’ve taken lots of steps towards being more unapologetic when it comes to doing what i want so that was a lovely affirmation. i hope you’re facing the coming of august with a renewed belief in yourself. anyway, i’m off to do more readings this afternoon! take care ♡

It has been so long
Reading old posts on this brings back memories
2019 was probably one of the worst years of my life! But I made it. I am working my dream job... if I would’ve been able to predict this happening when I was in school, it would’ve saved me so much anxiety and I would’ve felt so proud of myself.
It’s awesome but I realized.. adulting is hard. I feel like all I do is work and worry.
I want to get back to being me. I want my life to feel beautiful and exciting and happy outside of my work life. I want to find true love. I want to trust openly. I’m excited to get my goals going, here’s to august!

There’s nothing better than showering and putting on an oversized t-shirt and then crawling into a bed with fresh sheets.

Orientation Y4
I can’t believe the last year of my program is already here. It’s so weird how quick things flew by, but I am super excited to kill it this year and finish off strong. I slipped up a lot in the past and even this summer. I didn’t eat healthy, I slept in a lot, didn’t work out at all or even relax at the beach nearly as much as I wanted to. But I worked hard this summer when it comes to saving up, so I guess it kind of balances out in a way. I know starting September things will be different. My goal is to wake up at 7:30 daily, even on my day off, and only sleep in once a week as a treat on sundays. I’m also going to make sure I go to the gym atleast 3x a week. Let’s do this !

hey carol!!! ✨ how’s it going? recently my life’s been pretty Tough bc i’ve been really fearful of stupid things and i’m also really badly crushing on this girl that i’m really close friends with. i’m thinking (hoping) it’s gonna get better right abt now. i was wondering if you had any self care tips? i was (ironically) very hurtful to myself trying to keep others from hurting me (funny how that works huh). thnx, ily!! 💕
hi angel!! i’m sorry to hear that ur struggling lately :(( it’s good that u have come to this realisation though, bc now u can make steps towards taking better care of urself!! i’m proud of u and i hope u feel better soon. that being said, here are some self care tips (these are just v general but general self-care tips are a good foundation to start with)
get enough sleep - you don’t have to sleep eight hours every night, but make sure you sleep enough that u don’t feel all groggy and disorientated in the mornings. when you sleep well, u just feel better about the world + ur more ready to tackle things that u might not otherwise have the energy for. make sure u sleep well bc it’s important for ur wellbeing!!
eat + drink well!! this is suuuuper cliché but it’s advised a lot for a reason. i find that when i eat junk food/food that’s just not v nutritional, i tend to feel pretty gross and bad in general. ik it’s not always feasible, especially if ur a student bc it can be expensive but make sure ur not just surviving on instant ramen and crisps - eat fruit and vegetables and drink at least a litre of water a day. u can buy frozen veg + fruit for cheap and supermarkets like aldi and lidl are super cheap and have great quality produce, so make an effort to buy fresh fruit and veg and incorporate it into ur meals
make time for urself (/friends/family) - no one is too busy to set aside an hour, half an hour, or even just ten mins a day for themselves. sit down, relax, do something that makes u happy and that u want to do. go out if u want to, hang out with ur loved ones etc. make this a daily practise. it’s a great way of relieving stress and it works wonders to boost ur mood. my fave self care routine consists of having a hot shower, moisturising, doing a face mask + following it up with my skincare routine before settling down with a cup of tea, my journal and a tv show/music on in the background
be ur own biggest hype man!! i realise that this is difficult and it comes with practise (u can’t go from having super low self-esteem to being reasonably confident in urself overnight) but it’s important to start somewhere. praise urself daily, even if u have to force it, even if u don’t fully believe it, keep praising urself until u do. every time u think of something negative about urself, one up urself by thinking of something positive about urself. think about things that u like about urself and build upon them. they don’t have to be physical - personality traits are worthy of praise too!! eg. okay, maybe u don’t have the neatest hair or whatever, but u do have the prettiest eye colour! similarly, maybe ur not the best at x, but for what u lack in x u more than make up for in y. keep on finding things that u like about urself and keep on praising urself for the small victories - it goes a long way

Summer 2018
Aaaaaaand, it’s a wrap. Third year is finally over, and I can finally begin flowing my energy towards consolidation. It’s been a crazy journey and I can not believe that fourth year is approaching so quickly. I remember dreaming of it since 2014.
Third year was definitely a learning experience for myself, and how I communicate and consider others. Also just putting myself first and learning to prioritize myself and the ones that I love.
I have decided to start off my summer 2018 by going to holguin, Cuba! This has inspired me to learn the language Spanish and to continue on with my hobby of photography. I am very excited for this summer and to make it one that I’ll remember forever.
Another thing that I am doing this summer is focusing on my physical activity. Every summer since middle school I invision myself excercising outside and starting my journey as my most fit and healthiest self. I have definitely exercised and had fun in precious summers but never stuck to a routine and schedule, so this is my goal for 2018- maintaining my workout routine, and waking up early to experience my full day.
With school in mind, I am taking two sociology classes (one in class and one online). I feel like this is the perfect balance for myself because I will get to experience summer school one last time at the campus, and still have enough time to work and save up! I can not wait.
