My Sam and Max headcanons, Some Sad. Some random... /ref

Long asf post, Feel free to steal my headcannons because some of them I stole from others anyways!

Spoilers for The devils playhouse involved!!!

Max is American/Mexican, Gay, Trans Masc Nonbinary with adhd.

Sam is American/Irish, Bisexual, Autistic, Amab Genderfluid.

Sam never stopped wearing things with Max's face on it, He has a pin with Max’s face that he wears sometimes!

Max doesn't like pda because he has a reputation of being intimidating to keep up! Sam is fine with this because he isn't a fan of pda either. They're both fine with making jokes but you won't see them getting all mushy in public...

Max and Sam both sometimes show affection through biting/licking, But Max is the one who does it the most out of the two.

While we're on that note still, Max purrs.

if Sam and Max actually had separate actors for their kid versions I see them with voices similar to Todd and Copper from The Fox and the Hound

Both Max and Sam dress in drag occasionally, whether it be for disguising themselves on missions or just because.

Max fell first, Sam fell harder.

Both are mutually obsessed with each other, Morticia and Gomez type shit going on... /pos

I tend to see future Sam's "Point and Click Protagonist Syndrome" as a metaphor for dementia.

Both Sam and Max had a rough time adjusting to life post tdph... There was a time where they both thought the other viewed them as just a replacement to the other’s half of the pair. But after a whole "I don't view you as a lesser version, you're still my husband!" conversation between the two, nowadays they just don't focus on that and they both have accepted each other as their own.

I'd like to think that the other Sam and Max are together somehow also...

Max and Sam have rather opposite music tastes, Max leans more towards Nu metal, Horror core and Punk. While Sam is into Blue grass, Blues, Classical music and 80s rock. One of the few things they agree on is they both hate soulless industry pop music. Back when radio in the DeSoto worked, They would fight over radio channels a lot... over time they did grow to appreciate each others music and agree on some songs, but sometimes they still clash over who gets to pick the music that day.

Max has a strained relationship with his mom and dad. He's slightly closer to one of his uncles, but not by much.

Sam’s relationship to his mom and dad is something similar Knife Consumer's comic about them

Max has atypical depression

Max never had panic attacks until post-tdph, He'd have repetitive nightmares about the things that happened in his timeline and wake up panicking. Nowadays he doesn't experience them as much, but sometimes there will be nights where it randomly strikes back. He hates everything about it, he hates the idea of being scared... He's just grateful that Sam never shamed him for having them and was there to ease him back into reality.

Sam and Max always switch up who wears the dress or the tux during weddings, they get new ones tailored for each wedding

If they attend other ppl's weddings Max will always try to catch the bouquet, just because he wants an excuse to have another wedding.

Even if Max is banned from playing poker with the rest of the group, He’s still gonna try to eat at least a few of the poker chips.

Max is older than Sam by a year.

Not a headcanon necessarily, But a few songs I tend to associate with these two are: Poisoning Pigeons in the Park - Tom Lehrer, The Masochism Tango - Tom Lehrer, Dead girl walking - Heather soundtrack, Violent Love - Oingo Boingo and Lastly 2econd 2ight 2eer (That was fun, Goodbye.)

Looking back on the post I made on Sam and Max + The guy who didn't like musicals...

The idea of A plotline in the S&M universe where A singing alien parasite starts infecting everyone and makes them all act like they're in a musical makes total sense... It sounds like something Sam and Max could have or already encountered...

What if I wrote a danganronpa crossover fanfic but with the fandoms mentioned in the tags... Would any of y'all be interested???

I will admit that it's probably really self indulgent , considering the cast has little to no cohesion and the fact I've always wanted to write one of these.

To make a long story shorter, I've been inspired by Danganronpa 69, Ronpa and Friends and fanfics similar to the aforementioned and back in 2020 I was Hyperfixated on the concept of danganronpa...

OH MY GOD DOOBUS GOOBUS IS MAKING A SAM AND MAX CARTOON!!!

I love this man's parodies, This man always makes good shit.

The artstyle is this cartoony simplistic doodle esce type thing that's meant to purposefully look bad

But the comedy of the artstyle is enhanced by humor style!

His humor style doesn't follow the typical format of "What if this wholesome thing was fucked up and evil" or breaking down the character's personality for the comedy.

His brand of humor focuses on keeping the characters personality as close to cannon while simultaneously going completely off the rails!

He also doesn't use any shock or "edgy" humor at all, he made a whole parody on king of the hill where bobby was a furry and the joke of the episode was how Hank didn't like the animal that bobby chose as a fursona, not the fact he was a furry.

Not to mention his vocal range!?! He voices just about every character in his videos and he does AMAZING impressions of: Eric Cartman, Stitch, Ren, Stimpy, Courage the cowardly dog and Wallace (In my opinion).

I cannot wait to see this man's video on these two idiots, THE FIXATION IS GON' EAT GOOD IN A MINUTE HERE!!!

Thinking back to my The guy who didn't like musicals x Sam and Max post I made...

A plot line similar to that musical actually makes TOTAL SENSE for a hypothetical second Sam and Max cartoon episode ngl...

C'mon, An alien parasite that communicates through singing taking over a town and making the world into a musical comedic horror sounds EXACTLY like something Sam and Max would deal with... doesn't it?

I could totally see this as some type of post apocalypse that bosco was 100% prepared for and he plays a role similar to Professor Hidgens, I don't see him killing himself the way Hidgens did tho...

I have a feeling Mama B and Geek would team up to find a cure.

Between Max and Sam getting infected... It realistically would be Max considering how he's always the one who gets killed off... But it would be funny if Sam gets infected because in tgwdlm There's a character who ALSO GOES BY THE NAME SAM who is infected and successfully woos his wife into setting him free, infecting her and they both attack the other survivors...

But I'm thinking that Max could play a role similar to paul and he doesn't get infected until the end... But I do imagine Sam still tries tricking Max into setting him free regardless.

I'd imagine there'd be a bizzare plot twist where it looks like the infection is over but then the episode ends with everyone singing together implying the virus never fully ended.

I hate being hyperfixated on two fandoms...

Fym I was listening to the guy who didn't like musicals just imagining some of my other favorite characters to it and I ended up getting jumpscared by one of the characters being named Sam, So then I imagine highly detailed animations (that I'd never be able to make.) of Sam and Max to songs from the musical...

But for real, the concept of Sam and Max singing: "Show me your hands", "You tied up my heart" and "Join us and die" is hillarous tbh...

I haven't stopped thinking about this I LOVE SWAP AUS SO MUCH AAGGHHH

For a while I really wanted to make my own designs for a "role swap" AU.

The idea is that characters change roles, not in between, they change sides but still have their own unique quirks to hunt or survive.

007n7 basically goes insane after losing both Noli and c00lkidd, turning back into his old hacker persona, he decides to make his sorrow into everyone's problem. 007n7's actions are way more destructive and reckless, with nothing else to lose, why should he fear getting hurt or punished? This mentality is what pushes him further into keep living to make hell break lose.

Elliot is still a worker on Builder Brother's Pizza's, the best as always. But sometimes you never felt like making some jerk pay for his actions? That's Elliot's mindset, using his freetime to hunt down anyone that dared to mistreat him or other employees. Having a twisted kind of satisfaction on making "justice" with his own hands. Of course, he would never let it affect the Pizzaria's service.

Chance is a thrill seeker, to achive it he always took the most risky choices. It lead him into involving himself with some shady people. Now working as some hitman, Chance uses this title to coerce his targets into gambling with him in change of their mercy. But somehow Chance always wins either way.

The rest of the survivors aren't as elaborated as those three.

Noob is just some generic killer, the kind that looks like an average person but later shows themselves as some maniac.

Guest 1337 as stated on the drawing works like Fliqpy, genuinely feeling guilty for hurting someone, his flight or fight reaction really blinds him when something triggers him.

Two Time achived a very high connection with the spawn after a bunch of sacrifice's. One life in change of a extra one, this allows them to insta-heal a deadly injury an keep going, of course it doesn't comes without consequences. Each scar and rebirth disfigure's Two Time's form further and further.

Builderman alongside Telamon started an iron fist moderation, punishing and banning anyone that broke rules or defied their ideals.

Builderman didn't changed much design wise, glasses to only focus on their ideals, headsets to not hear their pleas or opinions and a hardhat to protection of course.

Telamon never gave up on his hatred, some still spilled over his creation but most of it still with him.

Dusekkar never agreed with this nonsense, and the two Admins didn't took it lightly, now Duse doesn't mind that much, afterall he doesn't have a thinkng mind at all anymore.

Taph would do anything for builderman, so they hopped along with the two Admin's, Taph happened to mess up a few times but now that they got the message they're not going to fail Builderman anymore.

And of course we have our survivors.

"Poor kidd there's something about us people never really liked." Not sure about what happened to c00lkidd for him to disappear. Up to you I guess.

1x a vessel for the admin's experiment, nothing but that. And when falling purposeless they felt anger, a powerful need for revenge. 1x and 2x never happened to become sepparated entities.

John Doe a mere moderator, only wanting to ensure that robloxia's problems were solved, too good for his own sake. This was his ruin.

Noli since the start aspired that one day he would reach out the starts, but now that he has them in hands theres no one left to share their glimmer with.

Guest 666 was just some rebel, a trouble maker as people say. Unable to properly speak without an account, but also unnable to be properly punished. Not sure how his relation with Noob could go.

Azure was, alongside his partner, one out of the most faithful ones of their cult. This feat led him and Two Time into a huge sacrificial rabbit hole. After being killed Azure turned his back to anything related to spawn or cults in general.

Had a weird ass dream where my family went to a new thrift store that appeared in the mall and I had heard from someone that this thrift store was INSANELY haunted and all the items had some sort of curse, spirit or some other weird shit because I guess everything was extremely low price due to ppl frequently returning them only for it to land here.

I ended up searching through a pile of fnaf plushies and didn't end up finding any of my favorites and looked over to see a random tamagotchi, I was curious and tried turning it on for shits and gigs, Only for it to be a prototype for some sort of Sam and Max tamagotchi, a noteable thing about the tamagotchi it had a mocking tone towards normal tamagotchis because one of the intro textboxes that appeared when I first turned it on said "They aren't gonna die if you neglect them they'll just leave!".

The cashier looked like a stereotypical witch and had a voice like one too, when I asked:

"How much do ya want?"

She responds:

"Ehehe! 50 cents, dearie!"

I was shocked but handed the two quarters but forgot to ask about the drawback to owning this."

But as I messed with it more at home, It had rather normal features, When they were hungry you simply ordered them food, They would occasionally break stuff and you had to clean it up, y'know the works. But then I realized something odd a thought bubble with a red question mark in it appeared, It showed a funny little conversation between that hinted towards acknowledgment of the player.

But as time went on, the conversations and questions would become more 4th wall breaking and existential.

Then, towards the end of the dream, they just said something like: "Who woulda thought that some random teenager was the reason we would not rot in that haunted thrift store."

"Hey, what the f- Okay, out of all the things you both said, that's too specific you two have to be sentient."

Max scoffs and says:

"Took you long enough!"

Sam shrugs and said:

"And here I thought that the various other jokes about them would have been obvious."

So I guess the drawback was that they were sentient, and that scared the hell out of the previous owners, and that resulted in them ending up at that thrift store.

...Why the fuck do I have very oddly detailed dreams...

I had never heard of Sam and Max until I started following you and now they're all over my dash and they are there to stay

I was just like you at some point, Back in december, I followed an artist who would draw Dogman and Sam and Max crossover art, and Sam and Max were all over my feed... within a few days, I became obsessed.

RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN /j

In all seriousness, it's a good franchise.

Sam and Max's dynamic is part of what makes the series. The humor style is absolute peak, and the chaotic fun tone of the series is just a fun thing to watch to lift my mood

Bellow the cut I'll explain (in my humble opinion) where is the best place to start on the series.

I believe the first three things to check out are the comics, The hit the road game, and then telltale games. Or to optimize the experience, save the telltale games AFTER the cartoon... trust.

But if you're looking to read/watch in release order.

Then you can move onto the games, You can either play the games on your own or watch other play it, personally I really like the game grump's playthrough of hit the road

but, of course, you can pick anybody's play through.

I think there's someone streaming the Telltale series of games rn, but I can't for the life of me remember what their user was...

The cartoon series is fully available on youtube it only lived up to one season, so there's a small amount of episodes, but by no means is it bad! Skip episode one "the thing that wouldn't stop it" and try watching a few other episodes because the first episode... doesn't quite properly capture the vibe of the series. But it's still a good watch!

Lastly, I consider the vr game completely optional due to the game not being of the best quality gameplay wise, and the characterization of Sam and Max is very off in that one. But of course, you don't have to take my word verbatim. You can watch gameplay or play it yourself if you want to!

Feel free to take my advice and to the ones who've been in the fandom longer than I, I hope I did a good job giving advice on where to start.

Okay it looks like my Sam and Max fixation is starting to go too far because I had an interesting Nightmare/Dream last night.

So the nightmare opens up on a mlp virus au type scenario, a new disease is being spread that looked completely normal... until ppl stared turning into these weird asf crearures that looked like a combination between the Mandela catalog Doppelgangers, Scp 3199, and the ppl who got mauled in liminal land series.

I am surrounded by these fucking things completely on my own with only a dagger super scared for my life, right when I'm about to accept my fate... SAM AND MAX APPEAR AND THEY START KILLING ALL OF THEM.

My memory on the rest of the dream is blurry, but the tone of the now dream gets completely derailed and ends up becoming a Sam and Max focused dream as they survive the apocalypse together with geek trying to work on a cure...

Yeah, I don't remember any of my other fixations doing something like this before.
