- “This man will not make an orphan of my daughter.” / this made me really sympathize with Burr, as well as when he tries to go towards Hamilton (at least in the play but I sincerely hope that was historically accurate) / but also that fact that Theodosia Burr was lost at sea at 29 makes me sad because Hamilton’s life was taken to give her one and then she just up and disappears in a freak accident

- the orphanage got to me

- i loved that he (LMM) didn’t end it with himself or anything

- he let Phillipa Soo tear my heart out

- “I just need to write something down.” / really resonated as one of the last things they showed him doing before going off to the duel, his life really was writing and that was the perfect way to say that in a very subtle sort of way. i really appreciate it artistically, whether it was intentionally so or not.

- okay but first of all i would like to comment on the fact that Ariana DeBose PLAYS THE GODDAMN BULLET, I JUST

- “This man will not make an orphan of my daughter.” / this made me really sympathize with Burr, as well as when he tries to go towards Hamilton (at least in the play but I sincerely hope that was historically accurate) / but also that fact that Theodosia Burr was lost at sea at 29 makes me sad because Hamilton’s life was taken to give her one and then she just up and disappears in a freak accident

- Act 2: 23. Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story

- i loved that he (LMM) didn’t end it with himself or anything

- he let Phillipa Soo tear my heart out

yeah can i get a mother and father like eliza and alex in hamilton where one fucking provides a sick beat for her son while the other stands in as proud daddo and hypest of all the hype men? because i could like... really use it..

i fled to escape abuse, homeless, broke my hand by having it slammed locked and warped in a car door and then put in a cast that was supposed to be removed no later than three days later for six months until i tore it off with my good hand only to find out i’d lost all range of motion in my left hand, found myself in yet another abusive household, struggled to get food on my plate at least once a day, was desperately trying to graduate highschool, lost my grandfather who was more like a father to me, disowned, dragged through the mud, abandoned by everyone i know and love, cast out to the streets again and again after that, and was left the last two years trying to untangle the shambles my life became all for believing i as a human being deserving of basic human respect. i cooked and ate lukewarm pizza with ingredients all bought from the dollar store, my school got me groceries for me and my (gracious and patient and beautiful partner who up and left everything so i didn’t have to live in a transphobic mostly homophobic town 30 minutes from just about everything with no car no locks no power and no wifi connection or signal to get my work done online god fucking bless her) as well as 10 year expired frozen french fries, and borderline raw chicken and still went to school while meeting the requirements for the internship and all the other extra credits for my brand new school (yeah i started at a new school my senior fucking year having to start over and unable to contact anyone to get help) that everyone else had their entire four year highschool experience and summers to get done. i had to start going to therapy before my family would talk to me because my own mother convinced everyone i’m a disgraceful lazy prick because i’m (ftm) transgender and her new husband didn’t respect that, misgendered and called me by my deadname and also sexually assaulted me (ha). i didn’t get to go to senior ball i received the only suit i own from a teacher whose husband didn’t fit in it anymore my school had to buy my cap and gown for me so i could actually graduate with the rest of my class. meanwhile everyone was raving about this musical and how when they went on the senior trip to new york (that i had to stay home from and attend classes because i couldn’t afford it, i attended each class with two or three druggies that didn’t go because it would be a strictly sober trip and some other people in the same kind of boat as me) - and for the record this senior trip was a basic thing for p much everybody in new york state that i got to later hear my siblings gush about as well as senior ball and graduating at the school i had convinced them to go to but never got to graduate from myself for reasons beyond my control - and there was this one kid that got misgendered a day after he came out to his parents threw a fit and got away with it even though they actually corrected themselves (meanwhile i was being blatantly disrespected and if i sais anythinf i’d be thrown out on my ass a half an hour and at least a week’s walk on foot fto get anywhere near anyone who might be able to help and even when i did get there they didn’t) got to see this thing in its prime on broadway like seven/eight/nine times and counting because he’s a theater buff and felt entitled to see it because of this. i didn’t know who lin-manuel miranda was until i heard the film was coming out because i stayed away from the musical, wanting to see it so i could experience it to the fullest when i did finally get there. it became less about the play and more about a testament to getting to that better place i was being denied for so fucking long. and now? i saw it and then six hours later when my grandmother fell asleep i watched it again and again and i’m watching it again now too. i didn’t get to see the musical (something i’ve been singled out and ostracized for because who hadn’t seen it) because i was a penniless “orphan” trying to survive a bad situation that i’ve been pushed into since the day i was born. i guess you could say i know what you mean.

My favorite thing about the HamilFilm being out is seeing all the reactions of people who love the show but never saw it before. The people who only ever heard the soundtrack and are finally able to see the choreography, see the little mannerisms, everything.
