Day 30, Begin, Yoga with Adriene. Thank you for keeping me company on this journey. Honestly, there were a few days when I didn't feel like doing the work -- but knowing I told you I would be doing it with you kept me accountable. So, you helped me. I really appreciate that. I hope that, if it wasn't this, that you did something wonderful for yourself every day this month. I do feel different and better about my health and state of mind than I did 30 days ago. Do you? Let's keep the self-care going. We're all worth it. Day 29, Believe, Yoga with Adriene. Hey! I'm doing it! I couldn't do this a few weeks ago. It's wobbly, but I'm up! How are you doing? Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j0zxr9RZwM (at Claire Fitzpatrick, D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKrgAcCl78v/?igshid=1oquh32uz4jhe

Day 28, Trust, Yoga with Adriene. No, I didn't get all the way up for Crow Pose. But this was ok -- crouch pose? My high lunge, tip forward and hold my hand out moves were shaky, but yes -- I put my foot on the ground when I needed. It's a process. Peace of body, mind, and spirit is a process. Where are you on your journey? Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvX-N5c0pVA (at Claire Fitzpatrick, D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKo4oPQFsPs/?igshid=1st0j3u8rvgnt

Day 27, Heal, Yoga with Adriene. This was a restorative practice, for which I was grateful. I needed a day to just stretch and be with myself, after the last few days. I really value rest time, rest in body, mind and spirit, more now than I ever did. I hope you find the episode valuable, too. Day 25, Love, Yoga with Adriene. My back is fine. This is a spine-friendly alternative pose she suggested if the viewer couldn't grab their foot -- which I still can't. So I was grateful for the alternative. So important to not force a growth situation. I hope you're finding the work valuable, too. Day 24, Rejuvenate, Yoga with Adriene. She's turning up the expectations in this last week. That's ok. Except, I again notice how my body looks in contrast to where I think my limbs are settling in space. That tells me that 1) I need an adjustment! I have to bug one of my colleagues soon. 2) As good as Adriene is, it's better to have a live teacher to show you what you think you know, to guide you to what is actually happening. So many good yoga teachers are doing online classes right now and need your patronage. At the end of this ride, I will give you leads on where to go to get your live yoga on! Day 23, Dedicate, Yoga with Adriene. In this episode, she reminds us that, if we're finding it difficult to show up on the mat, to remember that it is a practice...a training, and we can choose to devote ourselves to the training. It is not always easy for me to show up, nor to do all of the poses, for sure. I have found that, during this period of lockdowns and limitations, it is important to find something healthy with which to dedicate ourselves, which further our growth and health. If this isn't for you, fine. Find what is and give it your dedication. Dedicate the time you give to you. Because you are worth it. Day 21, Control, Yoga with Adriene. Coincidence? I am doing my financial planning for this year. This pose, including the claws, is emblematic of my mood right now. “Take control!” #Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/iTvFko3tOKY (at Claire Fitzpatrick, D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKXNFq5l3YW/?igshid=1s2djz1iq76av

Day 20, Pause, Yoga with Adriene. We are breathing in this episode again. It has been my experience that many of us breathe into our shoulders, as opposed to opening up our lung power and breathing into our bellies and sides. When someone is very tight around the lower rib areas, I find this is often the case. To breathe to the count of five and hold it, breath deeply. Try to push your belly forward and your sides wide with your breath. This will give you the time and lung real estate to breathe deeply and long, and the oxygen to be able to hold it before releasing slowly. Try it! Day 19, Strength, Yoga with Adriene. Pre-inaguration exercise. This pose (I think it's chair pose) reminds me of the movement pattern tests I sometimes give my practice members. Looks like I still need to do a bit more core work to get my low back stronger. It's good to have objective data and someone to guide you during your wellness journey. Please keep in mind your local practitioners after these sessions are done. YWA is great, but nothing replaces real live people to guide you.
