I wholeheartedly genuinely believe that Daeho was infact lying when he said that he wasn’t in the marines. First of all: you dont fake a marine tattoo like that because you’re going to befriend some guys and one of them is a marine so it will make them like you better. He didn’t know jungbae was going to bring it up, so obviously he doesnt mention it at first when introducing himself. Second of all: his class number?!?! You would think that if he were faking that shit, jungbae wouldve called him out but he didnt. Also the whole theory of him serving around the whole ganghwa island shooting makes sense and would back up his whole PTSD story.

I just think he said that he wasnt really a marine to try to get gihun off his back and to try to see where he was coming from. As much as i love gihun, i think daeho was right and if he HAD brought the magazines, they still wouldve all been dead. They were all outnumbered and he saved hyunju by staying back. I think this was all shit writing on hdhs part. Justice 4 daeho.

I'm talking with a friend rn abt this and I'm going to be completely honest

How they like did Dae-ho in Season 3 was genuinely so upsetting to me

The way that they made everyone just think of Dae-ho as someone at fault and blame when he literally had a panic attack that was triggered from ptsd is just not right imo

Like why are yall mad it's literally not his fault that that happened

I really would have thought that someone, most likely Hyun-ju would notice as I have a vague memory of her also being enlisted in the army at some point and so would understand what happened

But like I'm not sure if she did but if she actually did then it's upsetting to me that she didn't even speak up about it whatsoever cause my boy didn't mean it :((

But apparently not which is a genuine shame cause that probably means ||that they viewed him as some sort of traitor or the one at fault and blame when it rlly jst wasn't like really just up until the moment he died that was what they thought of him

Plus, to add insult to injury, while Dae-ho is clearly shown to be guilty about it Gi-hun doesn't even seem to care ???? Like he's focusing only on what he said earlier and that doesn't sit right with me

In conclusion: I wish they did Dae-ho better cause a lot of the stuff wasn't his fault and the other cast thought of it as his which makes me upset

I'm sorry but doesn't it feel a little in poor taste when the actor talks about his real life friends who have served and how he used them for inspiration for the character and the character is just...a fucking liar? Like what do you mean Dae-ho grew his hair out after the marines? He never went! What fucking information did they give Kang Ha-neul to make him say that???

Kang Ha-neul acted his fucking ass off but oh my God...who the fuck thought it'd be a good idea to write a character that could easily be mistaken for a PTSD survivor and do this? Like wow. You really set everything back by a couple decades huh.

Like, you truly had the building blocks of good commentary here on how people with PTSD can be affected by capitalism and the stigma around it.

I'm honestly flabbergasted. how you do even turn Dae-ho into an antagonist that's actually crazy??? Listen I'll keep watching but, the shows kinda tainted for me? Kills off two of the best characters and turns Gi-hun into THAT and expects me to still give a fuck. Crazy actually.

I can see why Kang Ha-neul did zero promotion for season 3 and also even admitted he forgets he even filmed it the way they disserviced him.

Dae-ho you deserved better. Gi-hun, I'm sorry for how they destroyed your entire character. Season 1 and season 2 Gi-hun would not have done that.

And listen, I knew Dae-ho was going to die that was very fucking obvious but this is such a pathetic way to write his character.
