Having now seen both Chapter 3 & 4 of Deltarune, I'm bringing back this 2 year old theory of mine. I feel more certainty that the next chapters will follow this reverse order from Undertale.

Undertale as a Guide to Deltarune’s Chapters

I’ve come to make a connection in regards to the Chapters of Deltarune, that I thought it’d be nice to share, whether it be intentional or not.

While listening to Field of Hopes and Dreams I thought back of Hopes and Dreams due to the obvious name connection. Then I had a light bulb turning on moment where I made an even bigger connection.

Hopes and Dreams is played at the very end of Undertale in the boss fight with Asriel. The location of which it takes place is New Home, the final area of Undertale. Field of Hopes and Dreams is played in the first Chapter of Deltarune. It is where we are introduced to Ralsei, whose name is an anagram of Asriel and shares a similar appearance.

The theme with Dark World in Deltarune Chapter 1 is that of a kingdom, with the ideas of kings, knights, and other associated things. New Home as an area is the castle of Asgore, the king of monsters.

The theme with Cyber World in Deltarune Chapter 2 is that of a technological world based on computers and the internet. CORE as an area in Undertale is a technology-infused area that appears the most advanced out of all the others in that regard.

(From what we can gather looking at the ending of Chapter 2 and sneak peaks from the Spamton Sweeptakes links) The theme with the new world coming in Deltarune Chapter 3 is that of a world based on television. And what area of Undertale comes right before the CORE? MTT Resort, the resort based around the Underground’s television star, Mettaton. And even before that throughout Hotlands, the player is shown to be used by Mettaton to entertain on TV.

In Deltarune we start the game on the Surface. In Undertale we end the game on the Surface.

What I’m trying to allude to with these connections is that I believe that the world structure of Deltarune’s Chapters is a reverse of the area order you go through in Undertale’s playthrough.

Furthermore, if what I’ve realized is accurate to the Chapter planning of Deltarune then I have a theory of what the final world we visit in the game will be.

In Undertale we start the game having fallen down from Mount Ebbott.

In Deltarune there is a Locked Bunker in Hometown that has an air of mystery and importance to it in each Chapter we’ve seen. Bunkers are structures made underground usually to keep something inside. The Locked Bunker’s appearance looks to have melded with the earth like it is coming up from it. It is covered in grass, and its large double-door entrance is covered in vines.

With those features in mind, you could make the comparison that it almost looks like a miniature Mount Ebott.

I think that the final world in the final Chapter of Deltarune will be created from the Locked Bunker.
