Omega Seamaster 75th Anniversary Releases
In honour of the 75th anniversary of the Seamaster, Omega has released 3 beautiful updated versions of 2 classics and a modern inclusion in the Omega family.
(Photos from the wonderful Fratello website. Please do check them out for all the in-depth information on not just these watches, but so many others.)
Tumblr media
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean- 215.30.40.20.03.002, approx. $7300US Omega PloProf 1200m- 227.32.55.21.03.001, approx. $14,000US Omega Seamaster Ultra Deep- 215.30.46.21.03.002, approx. $12,800US
I might do a post about the PO and the UD later, but anyone who knows me will know which of the three I ooo’d and ahhh’d over. (Though I will mention the cool Easter egg on the Ultra Deep. Because the original model was the one that made it down to the Mariana’s Trench, if you shine a UV light on the UD’s face, you’ll see this:)
Tumblr media
But let’s get to (for me) the jewel of the trio-
Tumblr media
Ref.# 227.32.55.21.03.001 Approx. $14,000 Product sheet
This is a re-introduction of the steel version that was discontinued in 2019. They also brought the monobloc case back, which is a case built entirely of one piece to prevent water from leaking in, if you actually use this watch for its intended purpose!
Tumblr media
Omega has a new proprietary steel called O-megasteel, first introduced on the Ultra Deep in 2022, which gives the steel its shine. The blue dial is a throwback to the 1971 version, and the other notable difference from the previous version is its size, shaving off 3mm from lug to lug and 2.8mm in thickness.
Just an aside, for those who might not be clear on watch dimensions, here is an example:
Tumblr media
So this watch is 45mm x 55mm x 15.5mm (lug to lug x diameter x thickness).
There’s so much to this watch, and again, I can’t recommend Fratellowatches.com highly enough. They’re a big source of info for me, as well as Hodinkee.com. Check them out!
Would Mark Harmon Wear This Watch? Scale of 1-10: Absolute 10. He already owns a PloProf, which was the whole reason I started this blog in the first place. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if he already owns this one.

Hamilton Pulsar LED 1972
Tumblr media
The world’s first LED/digital watch. Originally designed for Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film “2001: A Space Odyssey”, it was shown as a prototype on The Tonight Show in 1970 and was finally released April 4th, 1972. Would put you back $2100. To put that in perspective, the median household income in America in 1972 was $11,116. (In today’s money, it’s about $13,700.)
Not exactly the same watch, but Roger Moore did wear one (Hamilton Pulsar P2) in the 1973′s James Bond film, “Live and Let Die”. This is a cool video to show how to change the time with the magnet hidden in the band clasp. (And keep in mind, it doesn’t seem like it now, but pushing the button on the side to reveal the digital time was kinda mind-blowing for the time. No pun.)

Would Mark Harmon wear it? Maybe ironically. Lol!

Panerai x2
I talk a lot about Omegas, but there has been once instance where Mark Harmon’s been spotted with a Panerai, so it seems relevant to this post. Lol!
Tumblr media
Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali Experience Model # ?? Approx. $57,500 Limited to 50 pieces
Inspired by the Italian Special Forces. I mean, what’s not to like (besides the price)? There is so much going on with this watch, it is so over the top with its size (47.5mm!!) and its ‘Time to Target’ that I can’t decide if it’s the most garish thing I’ve seen or the coolest. (Heavily leaning towards the latter, if I’m honest!) The only thing I might change is the strap, which looks disappointingly cheap on such an expensive watch.
Tumblr media
Panerai Luna Rossa Model #PAM01342 Technical details Approx. $6000 Limited to 1500 pieces
To honour the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona, Panerai has released this beautiful white/grey/red number. 44mm in diameter, it’s on par with some of the biggest Omega watches. I love the simplicity of this one.
(For those wondering about the thing sticking up above the crown- it’s a clasp you pull down to wind the watch.)

Omega Constellation 41mm
I could talk about the 2022 Green Seamaster (which just looks like a regular Seamaster but... green), or a spin on Mark Harmon’s (seemingly) favourite Omega, the Planet Ocean (2022 Planet Ocean Ultra Deep), but they seemed so same-y same-y. Instead, let’s talk about a watch I think is well out of Mark Harmon’s interests-
The Omega Constellation 41mm.
Tumblr media
Ref. #131.33.41.21.04.001 Product Sheet Approx. $6500
The 41mm of course references the width of the watch, from the widest point, not including the crown. So it’s a fairly wide watch for what I would call ‘dressy’. (In comparison, the Planet Ocean 300m is 43.5mm while the dressy De Ville is 39.5mm.)
I don’t know what I think of this one. I’m a sucker for the blindingly white dial. And I love the clean look of the hour markers (ticks instead of numbers). I even like the sword hands. (Learn about the different hands here.) But... I hate the bezel. The Roman numerals are
Tumblr media
and I really don’t like the lug (the projections from the watch case that connects the strap to the case). And just to be picky, I prefer the date window at the 3 o’clock instead of the 6. Maybe take the dial and put it on a different case and strap? Lol! Not asking for much, I know.

Omega CK 859
I’ve already talked about this one, but I often just post the pic and a quick reference sheet. Thought I’d give a bit more detail on this one.
This is a beautiful homage to the original CK 859s that were produced in the 1930s to 1966, with some slight differences.
Tumblr media
(Original 1938 859.)
Tumblr media
Ref. #511.12.39.21.99.002
I’ve highlighted 3 differences, with the obvious one being the 12, 3 and 9 being placed inside the inner circle, as well as the 3 and the 9 being upright. The crosshair is no longer there, and what you can’t tell from the photo is, the width of the new version is 1.5mm wider. Just a gorgeous, clean and classy watch with the leather strap.
As mentioned in my original post about this release, the stainless steel version was limited, and is now sold out. Not surprising, considering the look, the history, and the relatively reasonable price tag of about $6500.

Omega Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer
youtube
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Omega Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer Product sheet Ref. # 318.90.45.79.01.003 Approx. $6400
Beautiful rendition of the Speedmaster, with digital time-keeping as well as analog. The bezel is in a red hematite to represent the dust on Mars. Look closer at the second hand and it transitions from black to the same red. (Also highlights the top left pusher which helps the user choose the various settings. And there are many, but let’s be real, the biggest, geekiest one is the fact you can choose digital Earth time or Mars time! C’mon! Even the rollcase is gorgeous.
Tumblr media
Would Mark Harmon Wear It?
He doesn’t seem to be generally inclined to go for something that’s primarily a novelty watch (in fact, Omega has it listed exactly as such on their website), but he does love the Speedmasters and this is standard enough that I think he’d be tempted. 8/10

Omega CK 859
Tumblr media
Ref # 511.12.39.21.99.002 Product Sheet Approx. $6500.00 (Unfortunately, production started in March 2022 and quickly sold out.)
WMHWI*? He’s not above wearing a dress watch, and this is just gorgeous. The blue accents are just the right amount, and the leather band is perfect in its simplicity. I’d say 9/10. The only drawback is the size, which is 39mm. Now, for a dress watch, that’s actually a bit big, but his Omegas are generally around 43.5-45.5mm.

Note
I too am interested in his watches. Particularly his first one. Good call on the Sinn, but I think it might be the Sinn 157 St Ty simply because it has that smoother and wider case outside. What do you think?
Very well could be!

Hard to tell exactly which crown it is, but what might be the tie-break is the band. Which I think is... the 157? Thanks, Anon!!

Harmon Watch Chronology
It was only a matter of time (no pun) that I tried to put together just how many watches Mark Harmon wore on NCIS. I wish I’d saved many of these images with the season and episode number (I only started doing that recently); it would’ve helped me figure out the length in which he wore each watch. But we’ll do what we can and maybe come back and edit it as I figure it out. Or maybe you can send the info my way!
Okay, let’s give this a shot:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
S1E1 “Yankee White”
Tumblr media
S1E9 “Marine Down”
I dunno, the more I look at the top and middle pic, the more I think they’re 2 different watches. But the middle is definitely a Sinn 144 St Sa due to the red second hand.
Then we get this watch:
Tumblr media
S2E1 “See No Evil”
The mystery digital watch that he only wore once, and on the right hand.
He then changes to this one:
Tumblr media
S2E13 “The Meat Puzzle”
Pretty sure that’s a standard white Omega Seamaster with a black band.
And yet another watch in season 3:
Tumblr media
S3E19 “Iced” (And if those aren’t quarterback hands, I don’t know what are.) I’ll have to go back and check out this season more to see if I can get a better shot of this watch, because I’m not sure what it is right now.
Then this monstrosity in season 4:
Tumblr media
S4E7 “Sandblast” Unidentified ugly watch. Only wears it once. Can’t say I blame him.
Thankfully, he moves back into the Omegas in season 5:
Tumblr media
S5E5 “Leap of Faith”
Tumblr media
S6E6 “Murder 2.0″
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean.
But by season 7, he’s changed again. We finally get to see my favourite:
Tumblr media
S7E19 “Guilty Pleasure”
Tumblr media
S8E11 “False Witness” (and a can of beans)
What I love about this episode is, at the very beginning, he’s wearing the watch outside his jacket cuff. There’s a rumour that Mark had a friendly contest with Michael Weatherly about who could get their watch on camera. This was clearly Mark taking any advantage he could. Lol!
But then, he’s back to the trusty Omega Seamaster in season 9:
Tumblr media
S9E11 “Newborn King”
Oh, no wait. The return of my favourite in season 10:
Tumblr media
S10E11 “Devil’s Trifecta”
Oh, what’s this in season 11?
Tumblr media
S11E16 “Dressed to Kill”
Hmmm. There are more watches with the crown at 4 o’clock than you might think, but unless he bought the compass band separately, there are few watches with both. Honestly, my first answer is a Bertucci or a Fossil! But considering both are under $100 and the number dial looks like a classic font, I’ll have to come back to this one in the future to say for sure.
Now, the second worst watch he’s worn in the series:
Tumblr media
S12E11 “Check”
The Breitling Bentley Super Sports Limited Edition Lightweight Titanium 49mm. He wore this for only a handful of episodes, which makes me wonder if it was some kind of product placement. Blech.
Because he changes it by episode 18:
Tumblr media
S12E18 “Status Update”
Classic Omega Seamaster, white face, black bezel.

I just posted about the “10 Parts of a Watch You Should Actually Know”, which was a really basic guide for those who might be just getting into watches or simply never knew the name of a part.
Here, we get into it much, much deeper. A literal A-Z guide on all the ins and outs of horology. Really cool, really in-depth. Highly recommended.

Thought this was a nice quick guide for anyone who wants to know the basics. (I also call the ‘dial’ the ‘face’.)

Omega Swatch Moonwatch Series
Oooooh! Now this is interesting. Omega and Swatch have teamed up to make replicas of Omega’s classic Speedmaster Moonwatch, and they’ve come up with a version for every planet. Can’t afford the $5000-10,000 Omega price tag? How about $260? That’s if you can find them, of course. They went on sale March 26th at select Swatch stores and immediately sold out. BUT, Swatch has said they will be available to purchase online.
More info here: Omega/Swatch Moonwatch Series
Which one’s your favourite? (I’m torn between the classic Moon replica and the Mars one. Maybe the Saturn one. Pluto looks like the Michael Schumacher edition one. Hmmmm. So many choices!)

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep 6000m
You read that right- 6000m. This was the watch Omega sent down on the deepest exploration of Mariana’s Trench, making it the world’s deepest dive watch. It’s thicker than most Seamasters in order to withstand the pressure, but they were able to streamline it in a way that minimizes the bulkiness.

Might be a bit too chunky for him. But I think he’d be more likely to wear the orange than the black.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean
I just posted about the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra and my thoughts on whether or not Mark Harmon would wear it. (Answer: No.) But as I checked on the information on the Omega site, I scrolled past this one, and it’s a beauty-
