Soft [Kakashi Hatake]

an: based on some thoughts I had after seeing this beautiful art of Mr Hatake looking a little more soft in physique.

pairing: Kakashi Hatake x female reader

Kakashi is a strong man. He always has been and probably always will, if he has any say in the matter. However, gone are the days when the defined ridges of his abdominals could cut glass.

The dips of his Adonis belt are less pronounced, and his biceps are still large but not carved from marble as they were even five years ago. A lot had changed but that’s life, and in the end, contentment brought him here.

Gone were the days when he could work out for hours in the early morning, greeting the new day covered in sweat on his way to a much-needed shower before the working day began. Now he had responsibilities to tend to and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

A wife to rouse from slumber, a hard task at the best of times, and a son to watch like a hawk as he propels through the house like a mini tornado with an eye for destruction. There were breakfasts to be made, lunches to be prepped, hair to be wrestled into some semblance of neatness and kisses to be shared. Wet kisses pressed messily to his cheek from his son as he heads out for work. Lingering kisses with his beloved that make him stay a few seconds longer just to taste you thoroughly.

Your love never wavered for the silver-haired shinobi, and even now as darker grey peppers throughout the messy strands, you still found them as enticing to run your fingers through as you always had. Age was especially kind to Kakashi, the lines around his eyes were from laughter and not stress and the weight of his responsibilities no longer dragged down his shoulders and slumped his spine.

It was amazing how easy it was to deal with the daily grind that accompanied his role when he knew he would return to the love and warmth that was his home. Everything was easier when love was in the mix, who knew?

So yes, he wasn’t as trim anymore. There was a slight pudge to his stomach and you could grab a good portion of his sides in the midst of being railed into the mattress, but fuck, was it sexy.

The silver hairs that formed his happy trail now extended higher towards his belly button and his butt hugged his sweatpants a little tighter and fuller than before. You had never shied away from the attraction you felt for him, but now it made Kakashi chuckle when you eyed him like some tasty treat to be devoured whole.

“See something you like, sweetheart?”

“Damn right, I do. When did you start getting even more handsome? Should be criminal this late in life.”

He huffed a laugh, eyes narrowing at your teasing words and the insinuation that he was getting on in years. He was still in the prime of his life, far from past it and he’d remind you of that.

“Well…” he murmured against the shell of your ear. “You know how fond I am of your softness.” Kakashi trailed his calloused fingertips over the gentle swell of your stomach, stopping to massage your hips and waist. “Thought you’d like to snuggle with someone a little less unyielding.”

How quickly your hands wandered across the expanse of his strong abdomen, a fingertip tracing the muscles. A familiar melody forced his eyelids to droop low, the hum in your throat as enchanting as the very first time he heard it.

You took your time in exploring a body you were intimately familiar with, pawing at him like the needy feline you always were until two strong arms banded around your waist.

“I might be a little more soft, but I’m still the man you fell for and I can still carry you to the bedroom with ease.”

Your chin dipped in agreement, gaze lifting to meet the desire swirling in his charcoal eyes. “Your heart has always been soft, Kakashi, whether you knew it or not. Your body simply matches it now and I’ll love you no matter what shape you take.”

This was supposed to be just an anatomy study of mine so I wouldn't lose the habit to draw male bodies, but when I realized, I already had it finished uhhh 👁️👁️

Since I saw some ex-elite body shapes photos, I couldn't help myself but to give my HC's Kakashi something similar during Boruto's era, a chunkier shape than his body used to be during Naruto/Shippuden, so here's the man!

I couldnt help myself but do these two edits of him 🙌 I wanted to try and give him a mix between his Boruto and his OG Naruto features and these was how he ended up, I really liked how he turned out actually.

My Ship in Five Minutes

The early relationship between these two nerds is mainly based on mutual understanding and self-healing. Growing up next to each other, the two of them ended up spending a lot time together, due of that they got to learn one another's quirk and how to read each other, later developing a slow-burn relationship that turned into something else.

Kakashi never thought about falling in love with anyone, especially knowing how dangerous being a shinobi is, but couldn't help but fell for Kai's warmness. The way she made him feel safe of himself once again by trusting him was a great help too. He feels happier everytime she is close to him, and her smile is the best thing in the world for him. Kakashi would do anything he could for making her happy, although that doesn't mean he can't be mad at her. He usually lectures her about how self sacrificing she can be and tells her how he would be devastated if anything happened to her, so she tries to be more careful (kinda, she can't help but be a lil dumb). He also lectures her when she's having some deprecating thoughts about herself and reassures her that she is perfect the way she is and that he is the luckiest man to have her at his side.

Kai not only loves Kakashi with all her heart but also admires him greatly. She knows she can count with him for everything, and feels really grateful to have someone as kind and reliable as him in her life. Sometimes she worries about not being good enough for him, something that he immediately rebukes and tells her about how stupid that thought is. Kakashi can cheer her up easily, sometimes with only a look or a simple act. He cares about her and she feels so safe with him. She feels comfortable enough to left her usual stoic facade and be sometimes even childish, something that Kakashi finds kinda cute of her. Kai loves how kind he is, and sometimes tells him that he should have a better attitude so other people could see that adorable side of him, too. Another side of him that only she knows is a kind of playful one. Kai loves it but also can get flusttered easily.

So it seems like ninken that are able to talk and not able to talk may have different aging systems. Since Akamaru was clearly much younger than Pakkun when the series started but seems to have aged must faster. Do you think this would apply to Bull as well? I dont think at this point Bull was introduced in Boruto (though I dont watch that series so i cant say for sure)

+ what how do you think Kakashi would react to his ninkens’ death?

As far as I know, the Inuzuka dogs aren't quite the same as Kakashi's summons. I got the impression that they were more along the lines of actual dogs who had been bred and trained over multiple generations to be able to use, respond to, and manipulate chakra, whereas summons (whether it be Kakashi's ninken, the cats, the toads, the turtles, the snakes, the slugs, etc.) were more like immortal magical beings.

I think summons are more like embodiments of pure natural chakra that happen to take on zoological forms than they are like biological animals who age and need to be fed regularly and house-broken, etc. Not really pets. Not really proper animals, although I think they would feel more like "kin" to other members their co-species than they would to humans.

This is all headcanon afaik, but that's the impression I got as to why most of the summons could understand / use human speech (even if some of them choose not to), and why none of them show signs of aging, and why they have a separate "world" where they live when they haven't been summoned to help with a fight.

Also, maybe it makes more sense of this picture:

...wherein famous ninja summons are being sold as adorable collectible keychains. Also tonton, who I think was always meant to be a regular pig, but one who wears pearls, unless there's a scene I'm forgetting where tonton uses special ninja skills?? maybe she's just an emotional comfort animal? idk.

Anyway, this kind of set-up implies it's not just the people who own the summoning contracts but the world at large who know about and revere these mythical fighting spirits. I think the more relevant comparison might be to the Tailed Beasts, although I'm not really up on my lore on them either.

Sidenote: The difference between nature chakra and other kinds of chakra was a really interesting chapter of the story for me, but I don't think it got as developed as it could have been, and same goes for the stuff with the Tailed Beasts. It's clear there's a rich abundance of story material for both of these elements, but the story as a whole really only gave us snippets. granted i havent watched all the filler, so its probably out there already, but i remember wishing it had been more woven into the story as a whole.

And finally, I think part of Kakashi would be devastated by the loss of one of his ninken, and another part of him would understand that loss is the price of war, and that if they died, they died as soldiers in the fight, which is something they all understood when they signed the summoning contract.

But I actually don't recall seeing a summons ever die, at all, over the course of the series, unless it's one of Orochimaru's snake summons...? Honestly I have the worst memory. Does one of Jiraiya's toads die with him? He created an opening for them to escape, right...? And it seems like most summons could easily avoid death in battle so long as reverse-summoning is a thing. But it's probably something that happened that I just can't remember because I forget details 45 seconds after I become aware of them, on average.

Hoeru Inuzuka (犬塚ほえる)

It's been a long time since I wanted to introduce this bby hHH DX I bought Hoeru from D1ryart back in april but never got to draw her cause of my artblock I got whenever I tried to (and also cause I was too focused on both Kai and Keisuke) aa, so i'll be posting the art made by D1ry that I received along the character (hope she don't mind I putted my watermark in it btw, is to avoid theft)

Since she didn't have a name (I ended up forgetting to ask if she had one actually a) when I bought her, I decided to follow the Inuzuka names tradition and give her a dog-related name; "Hoeru", that when written "吠える", means either "bark" or "howl".
