Well this was an unexpected visitor to the state of Michigan! Western Tananger

If you have time on your uk visit I highly recommend going to an RSPB reserve if there’s one near where you’re staying! I’m not sure how well-known they are outside of the uk but they’re a (primarily) bird focussed charity which helps to conserve wildlife. They have nature reserves all over the country which are really good for spotting rarer birds (I saw a bittern when I last visited!). I hope you have a nice time!

I strongly recommend sitting in a forest or garden near a bird feeder in the middle of nowhere if you're going to England. For an additional adventure go the (freezing cold) beaches if you're near the coast and hope for one of my favourite birds: the sand piper

She really is the same one from the earlier photos, but in this photo (early September) she was mid-molt and her head feathers hadn't grown all the way back in yet 😭 also she couldn’t find her footing so they had to take her back in for a bit 😭😭

Leonard Leo’s Federalist Society has packed the courts full of far-right judges who will block all things good on bullshit grounds (see: Matthew Kacsmaryk and birth control; the Supreme Court overturning student loan forgiveness because “originalism”).

“Stop telling me to vote, it does nothing” bitch, right wingers spent *50 years* participating in elections and now it’s harder to vote, the judiciary is packed, and your school board has an extremist slate on the ballot. We wouldn’t be here if you had a decent civics education, so maybe read a fucking book and then show up every 2 years instead of acting all entitled online.
