“It’s not cheating if you don’t love them” People bend over backwards to excuse this silver mf. This bullshit excuse for Rhaegar abandoning his wife and children for his teenage mistress in the middle of a political crisis he helped cause. Because, apparently, the "sincerity" of feeling now cancels out legal commitments, public obligations, and, you know, basic accountability. He is a deadbeat father and a cheater! That's what he is! People go on and on about his “political marriage” as their gotcha moment. Pleaseee! Marriage in Westeros is not a private emotional contract. It is a political alliance, a legally binding status, and a tool of dynastic continuity. And Rhaegar entered into it willingly, after a year-long betrothal. A full year to object, to delay, to send polite raven-coded protests. Did he? No. He went through with it, with all the ceremony and approval that came with being the heir to the throne. He married her in the Great Sept of Baelor, in front of the realm, with full institutional backing. No one was holding a sword to his head. Whether or not Rhaegar loved Elia does not negate the fact that he was married to her, fathered two children with her, and had a political and familial duty to protect her. He slept with her long enough to risk her life in childbirth twice. And only after all of that then he left her behind for Lyanna, he left her as his legal wife, not a discarded mistress, not a separated noblewoman, but a princess still publicly tied to the future of the realm. "oh but Lyanna..." Nah bro, that's still cheating. Doing it with one person (because LoVE) instead of twenty doesn’t suddenly make it noble. It’s still betrayal. It's still a violation of the commitment he chose to enter. Whether he loved Elia is completely irrelevant. Love has never been the currency of marital fidelity in that world. Commitment is. That doesn’t stop counting just because Rhaegar later decided he didn’t like the terms. Elia is still bound to him in every legal, political, and symbolic sense. Elia’s dignity, rights, and life didn’t stop mattering the second Rhaegar stopped caring about her. And if the defense of him requires pretending she was already erased when she was very much still married, still present, maybe the tragic bitchprince isn’t as noble as the narrative says. But yes, go off. It’s not cheating if you don’t love them.

By that logic, it’s not prostitution if you don’t pay lol. Wouldn’t Rhaelya fans be giving Robert a way to be excused too? Aegon IV and Aerys weren’t considered cheats either？

It’s already hard to stomach that a married man with children can still be thrown back into the dating market and treated as a viable romantic option. Have they really lowered the bar that much? Are they that desperate they’re calling fly legs gourmet now? People who say things like that are usually the ones who are… well, you know. Or maybe they’re just trying to whitewash Rhaelya, saying whatever it takes, even if it’s a set of values they don’t truly believe in themselves. In real life, if their boyfriend, husband, or father turned out to be a Rhaegar who met his Lyanna, they’d be completely stunned. My advice to them is: stop saying things like that — what if they actually come true?

I have playlists for each pairing in A Banquet of Blood and Blades. And for the characters:

I specifically would listen to Kill yourself (part III) - $uicideboy$ especially when I try to embody his monologue

Generally when I brainstorm Aegon I would listen to trap and those sad boi raps. I can always catch his vibe well with those music. I feel like with this type of music I'm seeing the world with Aegon's POV.

For Barba, I don't have "Barba's POV of the world" music as much, it's the other way around. My go-to is Who is She? by I monster and Angel by Massive Attack.

When I write the two together, it's a lot of Lana Del Rey. My most played LDR when I write their interactions are:

1. Living Legend

2. Black Beauty

3. Fucked My Way Up To The Top

And when I specifically need to brew idea for Aegon's pov of Barba, I'd go with Cry by Cigarettes After Sex and Jocelyn Flores by XXXTentacion.

If I need to write Barba's pov of Aegon, my go to is Boats And Birds by Gregory and the Hawk and Sucker For Pain by Lil Wayne.

With Viserys and Larra, my go to is always, always always—whole monologue of Ride by Lana Del Rey, especially when I'm delving deep in the intricacies of their shared grief and lost.

Other than that, Juliet by Cavetown, Bourbon Kisses by Jean Brandy, and Hope Is A Dangerous Thing For A Woman Like Me To Have by LDR esp when I'm trying to brainstorm Larra.

With the OC/canon or OCs in general... I listen to a lot of Twelve Steps From Hell to write Orwyn and Tayara's pov, and my Orvalla's go to is Painted Smile by Madame Macabre(also how I got the name of Barba's sword😉)

And when I need to write the shenanigans of the rulers beneath the veil? (Ironic because Androw coined the name but he is now part of the gang) I play Speak For The Dead by Daniel Pemberton.

Right now I'm in the process of cooking 3 more WIPs and while I have abstract patterns of songs playing during writing/brainstorming, I can see patterns of them.

I read the new chapter. Now I have a few questions

1.Alicent died in her first life hating the color green. Will she wear that color again in her second life? It would be interesting if she wore Alyrie Florent’s colors like Show!Alicent did in Season 2. And if Rhaegal interpreted it as a tribute to his own mother, that would be funny.

2.Laena was clearly unhappy about the idea of marrying Viserys, both in the show and the book. What does she think about marrying Rhaegal?

3.Will Alicent be surprised when she sees the Velaryons? (Because of the difference in skin color between the book and the show.)

1. No, she will not be wearing green.

2. Rhaegel is closer in age to Laena, so Laena is... I'm not sure. She parrots her mother's words, certainly, but she also doesn't outright disdain the idea. Rhaegel is handsome, not a widow, closer in age and is the youngest dragonrider. I suppose there is a childish part of her who idolizes Rhaegel?

3. I like to think that Westeros and our world have very different scale of priorities. Nobles, heraldy and dragons are not a thing here (nobilities and heraldy still in several countries but not as much as Westeros) and in turn, things like significant age gap, skin color and so on doesn't really matter there. Different world, different way of seeing what's 'different' and what's not. All in all? Whatever the Velaryon's skin color is, it matters very little in Westeros—or maybe it does, but not as much of a topic as it is in our world.
