now I think this is a weakness in the show’s writing and thinking things through rather than actually disliking the character tho

if you string it all the way out to its logical conclusion he’s just not a good guy despite being presented as sympathetic

You may or may not have seen my HH stuff on Tiktok 😭😭

I wanted to post my Hazbin redesigns on here one bc l've literally been neglecting Tumblr and I feel bad and two, they've been getting a ton of love on Tiktok so I wanted to share them here as well!

Pt 1!

Even though Alastor is aroace, Alastor being shipped with Lucifer (in a queerplatonic way) is really funny because they have a dynamic of two divorced dads who tolerate each other for their daughter’s sake

Alastor’s inner dialog: I thought this guy was the worst of the worst the baddest of the bad how the fuck did this happen I thought this guy would not give one shit, be horny central and have a harem and tap anybody at the drop of the hat I am so confused

he doesn’t know the Gnostic style intro that Charlie said aloud which painted Lucifer as more sympathetic

Thinking about Lucifer being so understanding and so proactive about respecting Alastor’s boundaries once they become a couple.

Like, this man will always ask permission before any form of physical contact- (“Can I kiss you?” “Can I have a hug?” “Are you ok with cuddling right now?”)

And he always respects the ‘no’s. And the hesitations. He understands that Alastor doesn’t have the same wants and desires that he does, and he understands that too much physical contact causes Alastor to shrink in on himself, despite what the other might wish.

And for Alastor’s part, he’s mostly just shocked that he enjoys even just a little bit of physical contact with Lucifer. He’s never been one to turn his head at beauty, never had felt even a semblance of lust- yet despite how prickly his skin can feel with physical contact, he finds himself occasionally craving the touch of a particular fallen angel. Just small things- a soft kiss, an arm around his waist, his back pressed against a warm chest as they fall asleep in bed-

And occasionally, very, very rarely, he finds himself desiring something more. A lust for power, for control when nothing is going his way- when he sees Lucifer looking particularly delicious and his soul growls as he beholds what is his- then, he desires something more intimate, something more feral, something to personify the snarling beast that is his heart.

And Lucifer understands. He always does. He understands that just because Alastor wants it one night, doesn’t mean he wants it every night.

He understands and he accepts it, adoring the man beneath the smile with every fiber of his being.

Out of the dozens of Hazbin doodles I've started, this is the first one I've actually finished, WHOO! Having shipped these two from the old days and seeing it HAPPEN???? kill me. I can't say enough good things about this show, and there's DEF more to come!

Yeah, given her negative reactions, iirc, before Val even licked her arm, she either has an implicit ace radar (she ofc wouldn’t know Alastor’s ace if he doesn’t himself) or is SO lesbian that the usual implications of these looks just bounce right off.

Either is entertaining an interpretation tbh.

Some aces have sensual attraction, including a familial kind.

and I think it’s fair to conclude that he just generally really likes manhandling people in would-be-sensual ways, and could, if you squint real hard, potentially even be a dom in an ace kinkster way

however I literally trust practically nobody in the fandom to write that well, respectfully, accurately, etc.

I guess I did find that one I reblogged recently interesting, as he refrains from directly touching at all, which is creative and seems in-line with general ace-ness.

I usually keep myself from writing too much on the internet, but I feel like pointing out one thing about our beloved, psychopathic deer.

Alastor is such a rare case of incredibly well done representation in media, his orientation actually improves the character tenfold - and all because it improves the plot itself.

Imagine for a millisecond that you don’t know anything about Hazbin and look at those screenshots. What’s one of the first things that come to mind? "The strawberry pimp probably wants to seduce this girl, whoever she may be. She looks younger and not very comfortable in this situation, yet is allowing him or has to agree to be treated this way."

But now, we know that’s not the case. And I doubt that Charlie would allow someone get this close to her if she had a hunch that they might do it for lustful reasons, had they resources to save her hotel or not (yeah, I don’t actually buy that "I’d do anything!"…). And yet! Alastor’s an exception, all because she knows that one scenario goes out the window. She knows she can *trust* him that he doesn’t do anything out of pure lechery. It creates that one thread of safety she can hold on to when assessing the situation.

And I love that. I love that we can cross out one dull and severely overdone scenario. That we know that even though Alastor is sketchy af, we all can *trust* him to have deeper, darker, selfish, cruel, tragic reasons. Oh, the paradox of trusting the trickster even when we know he should not be trusted. That’s like a cherry on a cake.

I don’t know anything about Angel’s canon sister Molly, so idk what response to this is appropriate.

Also Lucifer literally is Charlie’s dad so
