Canmates Charity - Seema Jaya Sharma
I was recently invited to attend the press launch of Canmates charity at The House of Commons. This charity is founded by the sensational lady Seema Jaya Sharma.  Once we arrived to the committee room after the security checks, we were greeted by a very bubbly and outgoing lady she of course was Seema. Having just a zest for life is amazing after you have battled Cancer. We listened to Seema’s story of how she discovered a lump in her breast by her gorgeous little daughter sitting on her lap and accidentally bumping her breast. She later went to the doctors the next day after speaking to her supporting mother and the doctors diagnose her with breast cancer. Seema has fought hard through rigorous amount of chemo therapy and injections, lumpectomy, mastectomy, lymph nodes removed, losing her hair at one stage and taking tamoxifen tablets for almost four years.
After finally recovering from this battle, her mother had gone to Seema two years later and confided in how hard it was for her to watch her beloved daughter go through so much pain and not being able to tell her. As a patient you don’t really think about how other people around you are going through as they are your support system. That’s how the idea Canmates begun.
Canmates is a charity which is set up to help not only cancer patients but also the friends and family around them who have to be the support system and watch their loved suffer during their battle. It is simply a friend finder service which helps people connect, meet up, go for a coffee, they can talk about it but the most important thing is that the others connected can relate to what each other is going through.
We watched and listened to how local MP’s, music artists, publishers, friends and family went around the room sharing their stories of how they have had a loved one or friend touched with cancer and how they have had to deal with it. Most importantly how fantastic Canmates can be for future generations and human beings as a whole.
The launch finished with us all singing to Seema’s daughter Shanti happy 7th birthday, not bad being in the house of commons as its most definitely a birthday she won’t forget.
I would like to take this chance to thank Seema Jaya Sharma as a beautiful leading lady who regardless of whatever obstacles she has faced, she has the most positive outlook in life and aspires us all to at least have an ounce of her strength.
Please take two minutes of your time and spread the word, kindly donate to Canmates.com

Dream chaser – The insight to the filmmaker
Tumblr media
I am TV presenter Hazel Kaur and I recently had the pleasure to interview and spend a day in the life of the award winning London based writer & film director 'Bivas Ambasada'. The fresh face of film makers, classed by many as the new generation Stanley Kubrick and has all the hallmarks of a young Francis Ford Coppella, Bivas is stamping his mark in the entertainment industry with his unique filmmaking / Storytelling (owner of Chasing Aces Ltd) he has set the pace with his writing, directing and editing of visually creative music / promo videos!
Coming from a humble restaurant background, he was privileged to attend the Metropolitan film school, where he learnt his craft. His short films Twenty Two and His’Story have been critically acclaimed and won awards at various film festivals and only recently the Brit Writers Awards..
Dream Chaser is an insight where we briefly explore his life, looking at his achievements and recognitions, most importantly his goals and what his audience can look forward to!
This insight took place at the beautiful Putney Bridge, London, where we had a full in-depth insight into the filmmaker. We were also privileged to attend a screening,  where he had to conduct a Q&A for his nominated short film 'Twenty Two' at the Rich Mix Theatre in Shoreditch.
He has written and directed sveral short films Twenty Two, His’story, Reflections to name a few. He also directs music videos for artists Luc Skyz, Jedi and Smartz. Music videos including Change, Angels and Demons (which has recently been nominated at the 2013 Limelight Film Awards)
  Awards and Honours:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/oct/22/hisstory-bivas-ambasada-luc-skyz    2010 Stockholm International Film Festival    2011 LimeLight Film and Arts Awards    2012 LimeLight Film and Arts Awards    2012 Brit Writers Awards (Unpublished Writer of the Year)     Brit Writers Awards (Adult Short Story Category)
Overall the experience was great; Bivas could not have picked a colder day to shoot however the energy and banter we had throughout the day was amazing! Considering what Bivas has achieved and is setting out massive projects you would think he may be arrogant the reality is he the most humble and down to earth person I have met in the industry so far, definitely a far cry to somebody opposed with a ‘angry or hostile’ attitude. I did feel like I was with royalty at the screening of his short film Twenty Two at the Rich Mix Theatre in Shoreditch, the love and respect given to Bivas within minutes of walking into the venue was phenomenal! I was thinking I could get use to this.. then going back down to reality this is a man who has gone through most struggles in life and worked incredibly hard in earning his position. Not once do you hear the standard sob story spall you may get from x factor contestants “I’ve dreamt of this my whole life” Instead you get a humorous content man who is forever learning and building on his craft of filmmaking! His main motto he lives by is “Dreams are for real, hustle hard”. This gentleman classes himself as a simple man with a simple plan, who is currently working on cinematic brilliance – definitely a man to watch out for!
Wishing Mr Ambasada all the best! if you would like to get in contact or view any of his work , you can check out the following links!
