My family and I are in need of immediate support in order to catch up on our power bill. Our 3 person family experienced some slight set backs mid year (accounts compromised by thiefs, identify theft, frozen bank accounts - time off work w/o sick pay etc) that put us behind on almost all of our bills. With the pressure of rent, both cars + all other living expenses we've fallen further and further behind each month. My wife and I are full time workers who devote a large portion of our time to our jobs in order to provide for our beautiful daughter. We prioritize all schooling, sports, competition cheer fee(s)/admissions etc to ensure she has every opportunity in life. Along with those opportunities come a fairly heavy cost which also adds onto our month to month expenses. This has also been a large factor in how we continue to fall further and further behind, but we keep toughing it out and putting our little one first. We have exhausted all of our local resources/government funding programs and every application has been declined. For some reason our family has been told we "earn too much" to qualify for the assistance. Now, my wife and I combined make an "Ok amount" and we are normally able to pay our bills on time every month which we are very fortunate/grateful for. However, sometimes when the unexpected arise and you are shifted into tough times unwillingly. Where's the assistance for the hard working families that might find themselves in a rut? What really makes it sting is that not only 5 minutes later a knowing and willing drug addict will walk through the door and request energy assistance and be approved and granted all funds available faster than you can blink. Now don't get me wrong, there are great people and families that also find themselves on hard times on the regular and I feel and understand where they are coming from, because it's where my family and myself started, so I have no problem knowing my taxes are helping them. But should it not help me when I myself am in need of emergency assistance? I have an 8 year old daughter i'm worried will have to experience her power being shut off with no assistance available, because we "make too much." Nowadays, the cost of living is going up and our full time jobs are just barely making ends meet, so any slight hiccup in that routine and it throws a wrench in the entire machine. -- there should be some type of emergency resources available for our working class and middle class families as well. For now, I hope Go-Fund me can be that tool and help my family and I get back on top of things and lift this very stressful weight off of our shoulders. I am scheduled for disconnect tomorrow with no further notice. Any immediate help would be greatly appreciated. I will provide proof of payment to all of those who donate to my fund to prove I am an honest, hard working man, trying to keep the lights on for his family despite a bout of financial hardship, which we are slowly crawling out of.
