okay okay so i found more evidence to back up my asexual kirsty cotton theory.

i was rewatching some of kirsty's scenes and i noticed something.

so for a little bit of asexual history, ace people used to wear a black ring on their middle finger to show other ace people that they're ace without saying it out loud.

and throughout the first film kirsty is seen wearing only one ring on either hand.

now, obviously as i said before, it has to be a black ring. but the term asexual was coined in the late 1980s, and with hellraiser being set in 1987, the term was still a new thing, which means that the significance of the color of the ring is not as important as it would become later.

so that means, to me at least, that kirsty is asexual!

i read the final girl support group by grady hendrix a few months back, and while i was reading it my friend and i would discuss who we think should play each of the characters.

starting with lynnette, i think that olivia hussey should play her. i'm like 99.9% sure that lynnette is at least loosely based off of jess bradford from black christmas (1974) and i just think she'd be a good fit for her.

dani is based off of laurie strode, so of course jamie lee curtis would have to play her. while i was reading the book and when dani would be mentioned or she'd be present in the scene, every time she would speak i would just think of jamie lee. so jamie lee playing dani is a no brainer.

julia should be played by neve campbell, since julia is based off of sidney prescott and shares neve's last name. similarly with dani, every time julia was mentioned or in a scene i would just picture neve as her.

for heather, obviously, heather langenkamp would play her. heather is based off of nancy thompson (and probably the fictional heather from new nightmare), so it definitely makes sense for heather to play heather. though there are some differences between book heather and the real heather, i think they could still make it work.

okay for marilyn, there would have to be a recast since marilyn burns is sadly no longer with us, so i was thinking sarah paulson should portray this version of marilyn. now, hear me out on this because i think it would be hilarious for sarah to play marilyn. there's a scene in the book where marilyn threatens to smack lynnette and heather because they're arguing and the idea of olivia hussey, heather langenkamp, and sarah paulson all in the same scene together that results in sarah threatening to smack heather is so funny to me. and yes, sarah might be too young but they could always use make up to make her look older (like they did to her when she played older lana winters in american horror story: asylum), or i was also thinking that caroline williams could portray marilyn since book marilyn has a little bit of a stretch brock reference.

another recast would be for adrienne butler, who is inspired by adrienne king who played alice hardy in the original friday the 13th. book adrienne is black and adrienne king is white, so i was thinking that angela bassett should play her instead. i love angela and think that she's a wonderful actress, and i have loved her in horror since american horror story, so i think it would be really cool to see her as a final girl.

for the last of the final girls, i was thinking for the disgraced final girl chrissy, she should be played by ashley laurence. when i got to that part of the book where lynnette meets up with chrissy, as i read her description i immediately pictured ashley. this may be because chrissy sounds a lot like kirsty, ashley's character in hellraiser, but the way she acts just reminds me of kirsty. chrissy is also, as one would say, squirrelly, and that was a trait that i thought she had in common with kirsty. i can just picture ashley nailing the role of chrissy.

finally we have doctor elliot, and i have no other reasoning behind this other than there was a rumor of her being in a movie for the final girl support group, and although i don't know who she was supposed to play, i think charlize theron would be a good fit. my friend told me of her casting and i couldn't really picture her as anyone else other than doctor elliott if i'm being completely honest.

gonna post about my random meaningless horror movie headcanons because it was a thing going around on stranger things tiktok and i don't post that kind of stuff on my main account so anyway it's gonna be here.

sally is terrified of bees.

nancy is dyslexic, and as she got older she taught herself to not get the letters jumbled by reading and writing slower but sometimes when she goes too fast she still gets them jumbled.

carrie feeds a litter of kittens that live underneath the front porch of her house.

sidney ties her shoelaces the bunny ear way even though dewey taught her the "correct" way.

laurie spends her lunch periods in the library at school helping students with their homework and/or schoolwork.

tatum is a peach ring candies enjoyer.

kirsty had an embarrassing "rebel" phase when she was 15 that she refuses to talk about and she denies it happened when someone brings it up.

carrie doesn't know how to swim.

nancy's favorite color is purple.

sidney and tatum used to play video games together on an snes before sidney got too mad and threw it on the ground out of frustration.

(if we're talking about the alternate universe where kirsty and nancy are dating) kirsty always uses nancy as her muse for her art.

sally is an avid abba enjoyer.

sally is also an avid listener of stretch brock's radio show.

laurie loves fleetwood mac and dressed up as stevie nicks one year for halloween.

one time during the winter the other girls in the sorority house dared jess to run over a patch of ice and when she did she slipped and fell backwards onto her ass and into the snow.

nancy's hands are always cold.

laurie aways has bruises on her body from accidentally bumping into things.

(in the alternate universe where all horror movies coexist) carrie babysits regan macneil and danny torrance.

jess almost burnt the sorority house down one christmas trying to bake christmas cookies.

carrie apologizes to inanimate objects when she bumps into them.

(in the alternate universe where nancy and kirsty are together) they would have a weekly puzzle night with kristen parker and tiffany but ended up having to stop them because kristen and tiffany would always end up arguing because "tiffany is too good at puzzles."

i love a nightmare on elm street, it's one of my favorite franchises, but one thing that will always irk me about it is how they almost completely disregard nancy's trauma when she returns in dream warriors.

(trigger warning for suicide since it's an important part of what i'm going to be talking about).

my reasoning behind saying that they completely disregard her trauma is that one scene in dream warriors where she and dr. gordon are discussing whether they should give the kids hypnocil and dr. gordon says, "you want me to prescribe an experimental psychoactive drug to a bunch of suicidal teenagers?" and nancy responds with, "i used to be like them, neil. i know what they're going through." which implies that she had been suicidal after she survived the events of the original nightmare.

and dr. gordon just ??? disregards it by saying, "so do i." ???

nancy literally dropped a bomb by basically saying that she had been suicidal at some point between a nightmare on elm street and dream warriors, and yet, it's never mentioned again???

like, okay, yes i understand that the movie came out in 1987 and in the 80s no one really talked about mental health or understood it, but we're also talking about a movie from a franchise where a demon man kills teenagers in their dreams.

in most of the other major horror franchises from that time we see how the final girls have reacted to the trauma they went through.

halloween (2018) shows that laurie strode still suffers from ptsd 40 years after the events of the original halloween.

we see sidney prescott progressively heal in the sequels following scream (1996) up until she's almost completely okay in scream 4 & 5.

even kirsty cotton gets some semblance of help when she's seen in her brief cameo in hellraiser 3 (and boy does she need it but that's a post for another day).

so it's kind of hard to believe that nancy was all fine and dandy after, y'know, forcing herself to stay awake for seven days and having her friends, boyfriend, and mother murdered all in a span of a week.

and i get it, everybody reacts to trauma differently. it just bothers me that the franchise made it seem like nothing really happened to her.

i just don't understand how they can be like "oh yeah, nancy was suicidal at one point btw." and then never address it again???

i just hope that when the time for the a nightmare on elm street requel comes, if nancy is in it, they address the trauma she has from the events of the first movie. that's all i really want.

maybe i'm just projecting my own asexuality onto kirsty cotton, but i firmly believe that she survived the first hellraiser because she's ace.

like, i think when she opened the lament configuration for the first time, it was out of curiosity rather than desire. i mean, who wouldn't open the magical puzzle box that was stolen from the skinless, undead uncle in your attic who was determined to get it back??

i also want to point out her reaction to chatterer sticking his fingers in her mouth after she opens the box. she was afraid, unlike frank in the beginning of the film who was curious and willing to give into the cenobites. i mean, sure, who wouldn't be afraid of demons who had seemingly come from nowhere, but her reaction is just so much different than frank's that it makes me wonder if it's more than just the standard reaction of what the fuck is that?

kirsty is also the only (main) character in the film that doesn't have a sexual relationship with anyone. julia, frank, even larry (larry more so in the novel but even then kirsty doesn't) all have sexual relationships and yet kirsty... doesn't.

the last thing that makes me believe that kirsty is asexual is the way pinhead allows her to make a deal with him. in the (many) sequels, whoever opens the box either dies or becomes a cenobite. kirsty is the exception. he allowed her to make a deal with him to save her soul not just once, but three times. the first being in the hospital in the first film, the second being in hellbound when she gives the photo of elliott to pinhead, then finally for the third time in hellseeker where she sacrifices her husband, his friend, and her husband's three mistresses to save herself.

pinhead is always willing to let her make a deal with him, which is never the case with any of the other characters.

in the sense that kirsty is ace, it makes sense for pinhead to allow her to keep making these deals to save herself because he knows that she doesn't have the same need for more unique pleasure than the other people who have opened the box do.

looking at kirsty through the asexual lens is interesting because it makes her story more complex but also makes complete sense.

okay, okay. i'm gonna write some of my nancy/kirsty headcanons here because the brainrot is bad and i need to talk about them.

i always imagined that nancy can't cook for the life of her. no matter how hard she tries, she just can't do it, so kirsty always has to do the cooking.

on the other hand, though, nancy is an amazing baker. she needs precision when she works in the kitchen, and she gets that with baking rather than cooking, where she sometimes puts too much of the ingredients.

nancy also constantly steals kirsty's clothes. it usually tends to be her jackets but sometimes it's blouses or even pants. she always has to roll up the sleeves of the jackets because kirsty's arms are longer than hers, and the sleeves look ridiculous on her if she doesn't.

kirsty is also very antisocial and aloof when it comes to other people. she hates social events and typically sticks close to nancy when they go out together because nancy makes her feel more comfortable in the environment.

kirsty only softens when she's around nancy. she tends to let her walls down only when they're at home together, because she feels safe with nancy in the space that they have built together.

they don't really do pet names but sometimes kirsty calls nancy "dream girl."

sometimes after kirsty showers she lets her hair dry naturally rather than blowdrying and straightening it like she usually does because she knows nancy loves her curls.

nancy likes being held when they go to sleep because the feeling of kirsty's body pressed against hers while she sleeps makes her feel safe.

they have an office in their house and sometimes when kirsty stays in there late at night nancy will pull her from her work and jokingly say, "you know it's late when i'm telling you to come to bed."

this one is kinda sad because not everything can be happy with me but when nancy dies in dream warriors, kirsty sits at the desk in their office and writes a letter to leave at nancy's grave because she once overheard nancy advise a young patient dealing with a loss of their parent that writing a letter to the deceased loved one may help bring them closure.

that's all i have for now but i could literally talk about them for hours. it's actually so bad.

as someone who is both a person who loves taylor swift and a person who loves horror movies i find it hilarious that my adhd riddled brain will make characters from movies that came out years before taylor started making music, hell even before she was born, fans of her music.
