There is no true definition of Magick...
You can ask any practitioner what the definition of magick is, and i can guarantee that they all will tell you something different. Magick isn't something you can look up a textbook definition for, but it is rather something you learn about and practise and define using your own research and results from what you've learned. Magick is a personal experience, its a personal journey of expansion. With this in mind, nobody is allowed to tell you how your practice should look. "don't read that book, that practice is lame, don't use that color of candle for that kind of work"
These kinds of comments are completely irrelevant when it comes to your practice. Read that book, you're educating yourself. You don't have to agree with an author 100% either, it's alright. Just because a group of people really like a certain book, doesn't mean you have to either and that's okay!! Choose what practice speaks to you, and you don't have to stick with just one form or path of practice and its okay to completely change paths months or years down the road, it's a journey not a quick trip to the gas station. Use whatever materials you feel inclined to use. Maybe for you the color purple represents protection and black represents growth and you personally have established that connection, that is okay, and that is beautiful because it makes your practice you.
Don't spend so much time trying to define everything. Definitions are sometimes barriers that hinder our ability to grow.
Aleister Crowley once stated: "Magick is the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will"

I did this for my girlfriend today since she's stuggeling a lot with herself right now.
I am going to take a picture tomorrow since my ritual candle is still burning down and I don't want to interrupt. but I feel that it went really well and I wanted to share this!
