I chose the phrase “ Machine in Our Future can feature common sense” because eventually or even right now it’s true. Technology is constantly evolving everyday that we might be walking around with machines that could be like one of us human. An example of common of sense is like Siri, if we were to her ask her to pour us a glass of water she would respond with “Unfortunately I am not capable of that action as I do not have hands” proving she understands the physical action we are asking. Another example would be that walking drone in my piece if you were to search up a video of one of those you would see it is capable of slowly walking down stairs so it doesn’t trip and fall, looking left and right before crossing a street, and even avoiding puddles because it doesn’t want to get wet.

Part 1: Self-Love
Conceptual Goal:
I created this piece for myself as a reminder of all the various cats I encounter from my lifetime. It also a reminder to myself to work hard so that one day I can take care of my own cat so we can both see how we grow during our journey together.
Aesthetic Goal:
The vision for the piece was to make a big enough cat head to resemble a actual cat hat itself but I made it bigger to fill most of the white space. The little fluffy yellow balls were aesthetic choices of being the little cat toys they play with.
Course Inspiration:
"From their venues—often forests at night—to their black-clad participants and the retinue of animals that attended Satan—crows, bats, and cats—sabbats were veritable orgies of blackness" P.267. As the textbook talks about cat attending Satan being veritable orgies of blackness I made sure the main cat of the piece was a black cat as some people claim they are evil or bring bad luck I completely think the opposites.

Part 2: Spreading Love
Conceptual Goal:
The piece was created for my Grandma as she loves getting flowers and growing them.
Aesthetic Goal:
As I was thinking of ways to make flowers on the canvas I had the idea to make the piece feel like it coming out the canvas just as in Part 1. I drew a gentle grass scene to resemble where the flowers are being grown. The aesthetic choice was to use cotton balls to resemble pollen.
Course Inspiration:
He found he could only work in the early morning, “because the flowers wilt quickly and it’s a matter of doing the whole thing in one go.” P. 82
The passage inspire the piece as it reminded me of my Grandma as she would always wake up super early to water all her plants and flowers especially when the sun is fresh out so she doesn't have to do it later in the day when she's tired.

Believing in yourself is a powerful message that encourages self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-assurance. As many student starts getting around finals week they stop believing in themselves so I wanted to remind them that they should believe in themselves and that they got this. I drew the gold trophy to symbolize the prize for making it to the end. I colored "Be You" in red to represent another message of to embrace one's authentic self and to be true to who you are. Especially to build that confidence of being true to yourself as it frees you from the pressure that's hanging on your shoulder.
Attendance Prompt:
"A whiff of death has clung to black as far back as records reach, and humans are fascinated and repelled by it. Most of the gods associated with death and the underworld—such as the jackal headed Egyptian god Anubis, Christianity’s devil, and the Hindu goddess Kali—are depicted with truly black skin, and the color has long been associated with both mourning and witchcraft."P.260
I thought this paragraph was interesting as it depicted the color black to many powerful gods. It's fascinating how long a color has been associated with the term death.

My artistic process was to collect similar objects from magazine that are in my room as a starting point. I then started elevating it with stuff that might happen in the future and stuff I wanted. I notice that robot with the human eye really sends a powerful message. The robot with the human eye reveal that robot are or will be way more advance than us. The object I morph is the robot with the human eye. The object I animated is the sunglasses smiling back. The 2 blue bottle in the picture is to represent the vodka bottle I receive as a gift during the break. The laptop can be view in two different ways one being my laptop on the left side of the picture and the second is wanting a new laptop. The cheese wheel was just to represent the cheese I have in my fridge. The $5,999 was included because I really want $5,999 who wouldn't. I included the photo of spiderman because I was putting myself in that mindset of being able to have anything and I wanted Spider-Man powers. Lastly the little cat on the table, I always wanted a cat so maybe that will come true one day and he on the table even though cats aren't allow on the table.
Attendance Prompt:
The Egyptians were uncommon in valuing blue: most Western cultures didn’t even possess a separate word for the slice of spectrum between green and violet. For the ancient Egyptians, though, the color represented the sky, the Nile River, creation, and divinity. Amun-Ra, the empire’s principal deity, was often depicted with blue skin or hair, a trait that other gods borrowed from time to time too. The color was thought to dispel evil and bring prosperity, and was much sought after in the form of beads, which in themselves were believed to possess magical protective qualities. (P.200)
I thought this was really interesting as I never knew Amun-Ra was depicted as blue as I never seen any Egyptian lore depicting someone blue before. From the Egyptian point of view blue means a lot to them as it thought to dispel evil and bring prosperity for quite some time.

I drew my friend Nick this time. I decided to go with option of drawing a side profile pose because he was playing games and there was a chair next to him where I sat so I had a great side profile angle. For the side profile I started with the head by tracing it the best I can then once I got a layout of the head I added in the features such as eyes, hair, and ear. To add more realistic detail to the side profile I added what I believe they are called vein lines to his neck. Lastly to fill most of the white space I added his hoodie and whatever was in my vision.
Attendance prompt:
"This eye-searing color was an immediate success. The first customers, intriguingly, were several European armies, who used it to dye their uniforms. The names though—“fuchsia” in France and “roseine” in Britain—would not do for so dashing and assertive a hue. Instead it became known as “magenta,” in honor of the small Italian town near Milan where, on June 4, 1859, the Franco Piedmontese army had won a decisive victory against the Austrians."
I feel like recall hearing fushsia a lot or it could just be the flower, but I thought it was really interesting how the name magenta became to be. To name a color after a taken over town it honorable, but kind of not the best decision in my opinion as it portray history of violence.

Activity 3: I went with option 2. I did it with @jonnywalkerblog and 2 other close friends of our. We all recently came back from dinner together and started painting and most of us have to wake up earlier in the morning so unfortunately we couldn't have wine so we all had nice margarita glasses fill with water but the conversations we had made during the time made up for it.
