“Well isn’t it nice [for me] to suddenly be so highly regarded.” Such an integral line for Mulder and Scully’s relationship because this is Mulder telling Scully that she doesn’t have to prove her worth to him, he’s not going to make her fight for her place at the table just because she’s a woman. This is Mulder telling Scully that it’s an honor to work with her. He’s already read her thesis. He’s looked into her. He’s already impressed. He’s shocked the FBI would send him someone this good (maybe why he also kind of suspects she’s a spy: too good to be true).
He’s saying his credibility is elevated by her presence. He’s now highly regarded because she was picked to be his partner.
If I were Scully operating in a world where men treated me like I was a dead weight, I too would have no issue kidnapping government officials at gunpoint to get my partner back who worships the ground I walk on just saying.

Watching X Files from the beginning for the first time while I do some repetitive tasks working from home, and my god Mulder and Scully were really looking at each other like that from day one. Like, eye-fucking sloppy style. NSFW longing glances. Explicit 18+ pining. Unreal.

I watched it live but I saw a spoiler online beforehand that there would be a kiss. (Shout out Idealists Haven OG message boards.) When the episode neared its end, I thought maybe the spoiler was wrong because it seemed to be wrapping up like any other MOTW.
But then….it happened. I screamed, flailed, etc. And thank god I recorded it on my VCR. Did I use the slow-mo function to watch it repeatedly and dissect it like a sad 90s version of a gif? Who’s to say?
Of course, then came the analysis, and I was a bit disappointed it didn’t have more heat. Then again, it had been 7 years of waiting for ANYTHING so it was a big deal regardless.
Actually people who did get to watch the Millennium kiss live/unspoiled please tell what your reaction was

All the Fic I Read in May
Where did the month go? What did I do? (Not read much fic, clearly.) I wish I had more recommendations this month but I suppose real life caught up with me.
I am reading several A+++ WIPs though: One Hand Tied by @cecilysass, Time Between the Stars @sigritandtheelves, and What Was Left Behind by XFNessy, so expect those to be on the list in June.
At least everything I did read was phenomenal:
New This Month
Engagement Protocol by @heartbash
Book Club Picks
Pillar of Salt by Nascent
Abaddon’s Reign by akaJake

1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)
For Crazy Ex, if you're looking for a series, read Bite-Size Love. It a friends-to-lovers slow burn that takes place post-series finale. If you'd rather read a one-shot, read All the Things We Leave Unsaid. It's a fun little smut nugget with a bit of angst and a bit of humor.
For X-Files fans, check out my fill-in-the-blank (S6-7) slow burn, Starlight, Love, and Other Unexplained Phenomena. Or, read my recent smutty one-shot, Engagement Protocol.
3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
Friends to lovers
Slow burn
Angst with a happy ending
Love confessions at the story's climax
Crazy Ex-specific:
Everyone goes to therapy!
Greg slander
Nathaniel Plimpton Sr. or Silas Bunch is killed off
Homages to 90s/00s rom-coms I love
9. How do you find new fic to read?
For X-Files, my favorite type of fic to read is post-episode/fill-in-the-blank stuff. Back in the Gossamer days, I would go to the "Spoiler" page, choose an episode, and binge read stories related to that episode. I still tend to use that same approach on AO3 using tags for episodes.
