The halls were fairly quiet as she strode down them, only a student here or there. If they weren’t of any importance to her, then she didn’t pay them any mind. Though if they were and they aided her social standing somehow, she would nod or send them a very fake smile. She cradled a book in her arms, one she had not even cracked open to read before. It simply made it look like she had a purpose walking by herself. The common room had grown incredibly dull for her taste, so she had been searching for someone. Her sisters or her cousins, perhaps even Lucius. Anyone to talk to.
While turning the corner, she stops abruptly upon seeing a Ravenclaw girl and Cassius Mulciber standing quite close together. Curious, Narcissa moves until she can see what is happening. Money being exchanged and then an envelope. For a moment she is puzzled, but it doesn’t take her long to figure out what is inside the envelope. If it is enough to get Mulciber to give out money to a Ravenclaw, then it had to be something he greatly desired. Knowing his character, she knew it had to be drugs.
Bold of him to do a drug exchange in the halls, especially since it had only been a short while since his detention. She simply rolled her eyes and planned to leave before she was seen, but Cassius had already locked eyes with her. So she stands there with confidence, allowing him to approach her. If she walked away now, he may see her as a coward or worse, he may chase her down. Neither was a happy alternative.
“Stalk you?” A scoff left her delicate lips as she looked up at him, eyes narrowed. “You aren’t worth the time, Cassius. It seems you’re quite eager to go back to detention. Did they treat you well?”
“Not worth the time? That hurts, Narcissa.” Cassius put his hands in his pockets as he glared down at the girl threatening him. As minor as it would be, he didn’t want any more detentions; or his drugs taken. He would’ve thought Narcissa was better than this. “But you wouldn’t really tell on me, would you?” Cassius asked with a venomous grin.
He had no issues stooping to her level. If she wanted to toss around big words, he would do the same, “Because. Well it would be such a shame if Lucius heard about your new boyfriend. A Mudblood too? But you fall for any pretty face, don’t you? And while you’ve just been betrothed, no less. Another Black falling so far from grace.”
Perhaps in another time, he would’ve been a bit nicer to Narcissa, but Cassius’s patience was wearing thin. He didn’t have time to play games and was in no mood to have Narcissa trying to push him. She was lucky she was an important person. If she’d been some little nobody, well. She’d be finding herself dealing with more than just Mulciber. But still, the youngest Black sister was treading dangerous waters.
The boy tilted his head a bit, once more scowling down at Narcissa, “Now... What would Malfoy think of you then? If he heard it from me, then Rabastan saw you sneaking off down a hall with that boy? And Amycus saw you passing notes through other students to the Mudblood? Oh, the letters he’d write home to Master Malfoy...”

Cassius moved from where he’d sat himself out in the courtyard, watching a younger Ravenclaw girl look to him as she walked inside the castle. He stood and lingered for a few moments before following her inside, trailing a few feet after her as she walked down the halls. With Mulciber’s reputation, it was much less conspicuous than walking along side the girl; it was obvious they didn’t walk in the same social circles. As much as he’d also rather not talk to her, she sold good drugs, and Mulciber had few other options.
Rounding a corner, he found the girl standing by a window in an empty hall, watching the courtyard below. Without speaking he held up money to her; the girl glanced between it and Mulciber’s face before taking it. She counted it out quickly and reached into her robe, handing him a folded envelope before stuffing the money into her pocket and quickly leaving.
Mulciber stood there and watched the girl go, opening the envelope to look at the little baggies of cocaine inside. He frowned at another bag of pills he didn’t initially recognize within the envelope. Eh, if he didn’t like them, he’d give them to Amycus. Dropping it all back in he sealed the envelope and put it into his pocket. Looking up and over his shoulder he saw a girl standing at the the end of the hall.
Shite. He kept a vacant expression and quickly approached the girl, frowning down at little Narcissa Black. Looking over her face for a few moments, he could only be sure she’d seen at least part of the exchange. “You know, it’s considered rude to stalk people, Narcissa.”

Leaning against the wall with her arms crossed over her chest, Alecto stares down at one of her fingernails as she waits. Admiring the dark scarlet that covers them, she waits impatiently for the door nearest to open. Amycus and Rabastan had done well with their evidence, though every word of it had dripped with lies. She knew that Cassius would be out of detention soon and so she waited. The sound of the door opening rouses her and a grin spreads on her lips. “Detention for week. Could be much worse.” She pushes herself off the wall as she crosses the space slightly to stand in front of Cassius. “Do they have you sitting at a desk for hours or are you the unfortunate recipient of monotonous work?”
Detention was as it always was, terribly boring and much too long. He didn’t quite mind it though; it was better than expulsion after all. Leaving the classroom he’d been doing work in he watched as Alecto moved into his line of sight. The boy tilted his head back a bit as he looked at the girl standing in his way. “I am ever so lucky to have been given the...Thrilling job, of organizing paperwork for teachers who don’t want to do it themselves.” Cassius shrugged and put his hands into his pockets.
“It’s the price I must pay for being a. Victim of circumstance.” Mulciber broke into a grin, “But, were you waiting for little old me? I’m absolutely flattered, Alecto.” he laughed at himself, “Do you want something?”

What had caused him to be like this? Curiosity shone through her eyes as she followed him. Following him instinctively ( as he walked away after the acceptance to go to her favourite spot ) eyes studying his posture. There was something about this boy, something that made her w a n t to see him as not completely evil, no matter what her peers said. & once again, she could hear Malene’s voice in her head –– Greta don’t. For with rose-tinted glasses little badger wished to see the good in each and everyone. Always closing her eyes to the harsh truth as she searched for goodness and fragile belief. Words he had spoken days past echoing in her mind.
“ This way, ” Once out on the steps she instinctively slipped slender arm past his. Hooking them together and keeping him there as she steered him towards the Black lake. It was all on instinct for a girl with the sun in her heart craved human affection, constantly seeking for skin to touch just to feel alive. & after a couple of minutes they reached it. A clearing right by the Black lake, hidden from the outside world. A place you could only find if you knew about it, no onlookers nor eaves droppers around. “ Isn’t it beautiful? ” she whispered, unhooking their arms as she spoke. “ Royce showed me this place during my third year. ” A pause until realisation hit. “ My older brother, he finished three years ago. But before that –– he showed me this placed. Called it his secret hide away. He was a Slytherin, just like you. ”, she adds. Hoping he might have known of him. Royce, the captain of the team, the prefect, the perfect son and the one whom Greta told her secrets to.
Cassius turned when Greta approached and just barely stopped himself from yanking his arm free of her grip. It had startled him just a bit, for her to link arms with him. He certainly wasn’t used to something like this; he wasn’t used to someone being nice to him like this. He was used to playful insults passed back and forth with Amycus or the silence of his father ignoring him to avoid conflicts. Not this.
When they reached the little spot Cassius looked out to the lake, watching the waves. He enjoyed watching the water, mostly from the common room where he could see creatures swimming in the dark waters. Greta speaking again caught his attention, and he looked between her and the water, “Yeah. Beautiful.” The boy’s voice trailed off as Greta spoke once more and he squinted in thought at the girl when she mentioned a sibling.
“I...I think I heard about him? I wasn’t friends with many seventh years in my fourth.” The name seemed vaguely familiar, so he supposed the boy had done something important, otherwise he really wouldn’t recall the name at all. Cassius took the moment to sit down in the grass as he pulled off his backpack as well. “You must be very different from him.” came the idle comment as he dug through his bag for the weed. Mulciber simply couldn’t picture such a sweet girl like Greta in Slytherin. She was too nice and too forgiving.

Place: Clock Tower Time: 10 PM
The last chime for today and silence awaited her shortly afterwards. The opportunity to be all by herslf, to enjoy her own personal moment of freedom and tranquility. Her muscles relaxed after some time, adjusted to the unusual situation of being under no pressure whatsoever. With every passing minute Helena relaxed more and more to the point where she could easily heart the animals within the forbidden forest, the steps approaching her —-
She turned around and within split seconds her muscles tensed again. “Are you here to celebrate your success? I must admit I’m impressed, Cassius,” she told him.
Detention was just as bad as it always was, nothing too extraordinary and nothing to quite complain about. Though Cassius wasn’t exactly thrilled to be getting detention in first place, but with what he’d done he had no room to complain. He’d basically gotten off scot-free, which he could quite appreciate.
The halls were quiet and Mulciber found himself wandering them, leaving the dungeons and climbing the stairs and turning corners. Approaching the clock tower Cassius lit a cigarette, rubbing at one of his eyes as he made it to the top balcony. When he found another person standing there, he felt a pang of anger as if his personal space had been invaded.
“I’m sure I wouldn’t know what you’re talking about, Helena.” he spoke as he moved from the door into the room to lean against one of the balcony railings, “I haven’t done anything worth mentioning as of late.”

gretascatchloves :
He is dark as the night with eyes even darker. No visible light to be found, yet she searches for it, relentlessly and with passion. Believing that she had seen light in a small fragment of fragility ( or at least that was how she had interpreted it as he once dug his nail into his own arm, leaving sharp marks ) Greta held onto it. Wishing to see more, to understand, and deciding to have her own opinion of the boy –– rather than to listen to the warnings of her friends. She could almost, already, hear Marlene’s voice in her head; Greta, no.
“ I’d love to, ” she replies to his question with another smile. Moving with him as he moves closer to the wall and letting sapphire hues glide over his facial features. Sharp jawline and blue eyes with specks of darkness in them. Who had taken his light? she wondered to herself. “ I know a perfect spot by the Black Lake. ” the one where she sat in the early mornings when she awoke before the sunrise. The special place which she kept to herself, now she was willing to share it with this boy. Perhaps she could sense his wariness to her kindness, and wishing for him to let his guard down. She wanted to hear him speak, tell her about his views and thoughts of the world ( but not the WAR, she did not want to acknowledge its fast approaching chaos ). “ ––– Unless you had somewhere in mind? ”
There was an ache in his chest as he waited for an answer, and Mulciber couldn’t tell if it was nerves or fear. He felt stupid, reacting like this. Why should he get upset if she said no? She was just some girl, one he barely even knew. Cassius looked off to the side when Greta mentioned the lake and idly shook his head at her question. “No. No that’s fine,” the boy mumbled as he looked to the girl again.
“The lake is fine. Let’s go.” Another glance around the hall and Cassius was walking away without seeing if Greta was following. It all seems easier to process what he’s thinking when he doesn’t have to look her in the eye. She always looked happy like that, with expectation in her eyes that begged others to join her in her joy. Her smile made him want to smile, though he had no reason to other than to please Greta. Mulciber just didn’t know what there was to be so happy over, every second of the day. Wasn’t it tiring? The boy slowed as he walked outside of the castle, lingering near the top of the steps that led down the hill towards the lake. He waited for Greta to catch up and to take the lead, seeing as she was the only one who knew where she was going now.

killerstrange :
The cold winter breeze rolled against his skin and threatened to bring shivers, but Rabastan pulled his jacket tighter around himself, leather a cool touch against warm flesh. He stretched, moving out of his stock still position and leaned forward as the familiar presence stood inches away from him.
“ You know it’s very rude to intrude without a hello. ” He responds, a far more teasing manner than the tone implies. Rabastan tilts more to him at the question, a hand motioning to the event directly stirred by them. “ Hey. Somebody will have to be coming up with all these convenient lies while you’re off securing a chest. It has me a little distracted and entirely bored. ”
“Hello, Rabastan.” Cassius raised his eyebrows with a smile. “I’m sorry. Maybe next time you can do the exciting part. We can trade. But you’ve quite perfected standing around with an angry smolder, I’d say your much better at it than most.” Mulciber chuckled as he moved to walk around the courtyard.
“I would have guess you’d be more entertained though. But if you’re bored to tears, let’s do something more fun,” the boy wandered back over to Rabastan and frowned at him, “You have to entertain me enough for two years, Bastan, because I’ll be graduating. I’ll have Amycus but it’s no fun without all three of us.” Mulciber looked off as if something had caught his attention across the courtyard but it remained barren. His mind was drifting to other places. Truthfully, though Cassius yearned for the freedom of graduation, he loathed whatever plans his father may have for him.
Looking back to his friend there was a pained expression on Mulciber’s face for a few fleeting moments before it turned into a neutral one. “I hope you won’t be too bored without us.” The words were muttered as the boy was still lost in thought. After a few moments of silence he cracked another smile, “But, live in the moment, and all that. Let’s do something thats more fun than you standing around brooding. Any requests?”

glcdys :
Routine was something Gladys was alternately fond of and despised. She had never asked to be Prefect, there was so much responsibility that came along with it, and expectation, and she wasn’t terribly pleased with either. Still, the time she spent patrolling was quiet and usually uneventful, wandering the castle when everyone else was tucked away felt like an exquisite privilege and she took full advantage, often checking areas no one would think to be in and taking her time in particular corners. It was rare she ever caught anyone, and she loathed to give out detentions, but this night things were meant to be different. In one of the more forgotten corners she checked half regularly she spotted a figure and approached it more out of idle curiosity than stern reproach. As she neared she realized it was a boy, a Slytherin from the emerald on his robes and the proximity to their assumed common room. “Excuse me?” She used her Prefect voice, another rare sign tonight was meant to be different. “What are you doing?” She was terrible at this, she should have scolded him and escorted him to bed, but no, instead she was curious as to what had him out this late in this part of the castle, curse her.
Cassius felt surprised to say he was bored. Though, it wasn’t quite like his normal routine involved committing heinous crimes each night. Maybe it was just because he was unable to sleep once again. Purposefully staying up each night had thrown off his sleep schedule even more than previously and he was struggling to find sleep. Deciding the next best course of action to laying awake in bed was to go smoke Cassius wandered from his common room to another floor wandering an empty hall.
He leaned against a window and watched what he could see of the lake outside, watching the water move and the moon reflect off the small waves. It was a calming sight, though still left Mulciber not yet entertained. Perhaps he’d go back to the dorm and read another book. It would pass the time a bit faster at the very least. Hearing a voice made the boy flinch and he turned quickly towards the sound, frowning at Gladys.
“What does it look like?” He spoke as he exhaled smoke, leaning back into the wall near the window, “Communicating with the dead? I can’t sleep, if you must know. And I assume, you must.” He looked to the prefect pin on her cloak, still frowning at the girl. He really didn’t want to be bothered.
