PIT GIRL THEORIES INSTALLMENT ONE

thinking lots of thoughts right now!

rewatching yellowjackets and this is probably something a bunch of people noticed but is something i noticed for the first time.

after we see pit girl fall into the hole we get a shot of jackie's necklace

spoilers for yellowjackets (heavy on season three) below the cut!

if you are anything like me my first watch of yellowjackets it never really struck me that pit girl dies during the winter. throughout season one is the big build up towards the winter and how the girls are going to survive it. i expected pit girl's death to happen during season two or early season three. though with the time skip into spring i originally thought that maybe it would be a flashback. though currently we havent seen or heard much of what happened after the cabin burned. then i remembered that the girls were stranded for nineteen months.

saying or even reading nineteen months doesnt necessarily carry the weight of how long that is, a whole year and an additional seven months. im not entirely sure of this but i dont believe we have seen the girls a year into the wilderness yet. in the timeline we could be coming up on the one year mark. so im suspecting we will see the girls experience another winter. the winter where pit girl will die, when even more shit will go down. "i think shit is gonna get a lot worse out here."

after we see pit girl fall into the hole we get a shot of jackie's necklace, presumably pit girl was wearing it. so far in the show everyone who wears jackie's necklace seems to receive some sort of protection. shauna during the plane crash, nat when she was going to be sacrificed, and now coach ben before being executed. though this protection obviously did not work for pit girl. going on from now the people who wear jackie's necklace are very important to see who is pit girl. as of season three episode six we see nat take jackie's necklace off of ben's body. however we don't know where it goes after that, presumably shauna since she's the new leader.

my top three guesses for pit girl are robin, mari, and hannah. they all have the same dark hair as pit girl and again to the latest episode i've seen as of writing this none of them get out of the woods alive.

though im not too convinced its mari. the scene of mari being chased by shauna is very telling to it not being her. mari being the bait and obviously mimicking pit girl's mannerisms could all just be a fake out on the show's part and she's really pit girl. or mari really could have been the decoy for pit girl.

going into a little more of mari as the decoy. during her chase with shauna during the game she is injured (shauna biting her) even though she was the decoy. i think that its possible that mari is injured during the hunt. or her life is threatened for the hunt. just like she was threatened in this newest episode by shauna. if mari doesnt catch hannah mari will die, "[if melissa dies you die]"

with hannah i'm more convinced its her. i'm guessing they have a hunt for her and they chase her like they did to shauna in season two of the adult timeline.

though under shauna's rule (which i personally believe will be catastrophic to the group) certain terms of a "usual" hunt will be dismissed. since shauna has become more and more cruel so will the "typical" things they do. we saw shauna jump for a chance at hurting someone. the way her faced seemed to contort with pleasure when lottie killed the frog guy. her anger has become something she can no longer control and it is taking over her. she wants blood and she wants the other girls to spill blood too. so this hunt for pit girl will be especially gruesome.

rip hillary swank fbi agent that hat was too powerful

watch hillary swank's character not be melissa but a person who is obsessed with the yellowjackets. maybe even a fellow citizen detective. but yeah she does look like melissa as an adult but maybe thats the point... to have her look like melissa but not be melissa.

let me spiral a little deeper here. in theory if all above is true then maybe her obsession with the yellowjackets pushes her to them (maybe by her own doing or by the wilderness). i'd like to think that maybe she starts stalking the yellowjackets and comes to run into shauna. with shauna's history with melissa (big fat lesbian kiss) shauna could be caught off guard. letting this melissa look alike into her life. of course with that all hell breaks loose.

OR watch hillary swank and joe mchale be actual fbi agents, another form of law enforcement, or even genuine journalists.

*important to note that i think joel mchale could be possibly playing an older ben BUT its too early for me to tell if ben genuinely dies or gets out somehow

slight spoilers if u havent watched up to the end of season two of yellow jackets

i used the girls' jersey numbers for their card number, except for those who didnt have those available! i also know im missing some people but i dont think that right now those characters are important enough to the story so far to do so. i'm also thinking of making a version of these cards for the adult characters but maybe with tarot? feel free to use if you want!

notes on misty and coach scott's cards: i used the queen for misty and king for ben simply because they are a part of the team in terms of support. i didnt think a blank card would fit them. also their cards look so different from everyone else's because i had to scour the web for these specific cards! the king and queen were so hard to find on pinterest so i resorted to ebay. the seller had high quality scans of those cards compared to the rest but i was too lazy to use the scans for the rest of the team

continuing on this post but not as romantic

i'd say van is represented by fire. it holds such significance to her character but especially her as a teen.

van is most like fire in the sense that it can kill and that it also can save. a yin and yang of life and death. van can cause her own death within the wilderness but she can also save herself from it.

spoilers below the cut + fair warning this might not make any sense!

van nearly dying in the plane crash because she couldnt get out of her seat and the fire was so close. her teammates (minus shauna) didnt help her and were going to leave her to burn. imagine the pure heat of a fire that close to you and there is nothing you can do but try. the metal of the seatbelt was most likely burning hot but yet she kept trying. she fought to live, to get out of the crash.

the fire in the cabin still confuses me. to my memory we see van go back in. for what? a blanket? something had to have her attention that was so important to go back into the burning cabin. maybe to hide something, or to get rid of something.

ive seen a couple of theories that taissa (probably other tai) started the fire. van is sharp, she knows tai and she is mostly able to recognize other tai. so maybe tai started the fire, but still the significance of van going back in the cabin is appalling. say she went back in to protect tai from what the others dont truly understand. van has faced fire before and will run back into a it just to help someone she loves. but why? why does she help? why does she stand before something so dangerous when no one else would do the same for her?

her "dream" from when she was in the cave is so important! van walks into a cabin (maybe thee cabin) where a fire is burning in the fireplace. she walks to the lone chair that sits right in front of the fire and she sits down. we see a van seem almost comforted by the warmth of the fire. a moment of peace until the fire starts to grow and she tries to get up but cant. suddenly she is trapped again, the belt from the plane keeping her trapped. van has to face the fire again. she is then grasped by multiple hands. these hands appear to be of people who had died either during or after the crash.

i've seen people talk about this scene and how for van she recognizes how fire is necessary for survival but is also deadly. for van this is so important. the very thing that almost killed her (twice) has also saved her and the rest of the group from freezing to death (rip jackie).

I hate when ppl use Shauna’s trauma to excuse her actions but then hate on everyone else for having trauma? Lottie and Laura lee are in the corner having religious psychosis, coach Ben’s hallucinating bc of hunger and getting his foot chopped off, Travis is getting sa and hunted all within like 1 minute of eachother, Misty’s pushing Kristen off a cliff, javis over in the lake drowning, Natalie’s watching him drown, they’re basically all hallucinating, god forbid someone who let Jackie sleep outside in the snow bc Jackie got mad that she slept with her boyfriend, is having his child, sa Travis, and then locked her in a closet and tried to kill Travis?? But god forbid your little angle baby who jerked it to a picture of her daughter and her boyfriend (17 btw) has any sort of consequences (I know this probably makes so sense)

lottie who uses blood for sacrifice, for betterment, in a ritual, to give. as a high priestess who used to be queen

nat who spills blood during hunting, sees it come out of animals during their last moments, everyone she loves seems to be covered in it. as the huntress who never wanted to be queen

shauna who sees blood everyday, sees it come from the animals she skins, sees blood from the people she hurts, she wants the blood of the people she hates. as the butcher who thinks she should be the queen

misty who sees blood when she so desperately tries to stop it, when it pours out to seemingly no end, sees it as a way to be important, who sees blood spilled as a necessity, when blood peaks out she knows she can be wanted. a court jester who thinks she is so much more, who will always serve her queen.

a lost priestess, the kind hunter forced to be queen, a butcher filled with anger, and a court jester who wants to be needed.
