coach scott i have a bone to pick with you….misty is not in the right with her weird behavior, but leading a clearly traumatized child on and feeding into her near delusions is not the way to go. people who act like he’s a saint get on my nerves things could’ve gone sm differently if he tried to be rational with her he did wayyy too much like, the whole fake spiel he gives her about wanting her but shes too young and calling her my sweet misty….he did not have to do all of that. anyways rant over.

the second Coach Scott closes the door he chooses to die. so why does he do it? it could be that he still feels he is somewhat responsible for the lives of these girls, but I don't think that's the case because Laura Lee made it very clear to him and everybody else when she took the plane that he was no longer a coach. there was no hierarchy in the woods that gave him a modicum of authority and he was absolved of responsibility. i also don't believe that he has a superior moral compass, or that he is so much older and wiser that his age makes him see taboo where the others see survival. in some ways it might be a passive suicidality – i'm probably going to die out here anyway let me go on my own terms as a person I can still live with; i am alone with no peer out here – and who could fault him that? but mostly, mostly I think he's not a teenage fucking girl. and i think if Travis hadn't been fresh off the contrived grief over Javi, he would have fallen back too.
be so fucking for real, who knows better how to swallow shame–who knows better how to learn to enjoy the taste of it even–than the teenage girl for whom everything, all the time, is shamed? and you know just blah blah blah eve and the apple, original sin. who has learned to reach for the forbidden fruit, who has learned to savor the unsavory, who doesn't fear the blood, who understands that a woman's body is already hunted like an animal anyway, already made for consumption, already not her own. they don't remove the jacket. that was hers. that was jackie's. but her body? maybe coach scott can't see it from where he's standing ("how did you know?" "you never look at our boobs") and it makes me love him that he can't, but her body was never hers to begin with. but the girls know. they know how to starve first, and then how to be devoured. he doesn't have the stomach for either.

coach scott, that closet is GLASS!
that’s possibly the gayest (affectionate) reaction to seeing your varsity girls soccer team pull out a HIGHLY choreographed dance routine. i can hear the echoes of yas queen through the trees in the wilderness!

I don’t think the Yellowjackets fandom recognizes that if it wasn’t for Misty, Coach Ben would 100% be dead. Like there’s no way he would have survived. The girls would not know(nor have the guts) to cut off the rest of his leg, put a belt around it, and burn the end to cauterize the wound.

Okay I’ve been thinking on it and
I don’t think coach Ben set the fire.
We see him take the matches and an axe from outside the cabin, and then we see him watch as everyone bows to Natalie. Later the cabin catches on fire, almost kills the girls, and the conclusion most of us have drawn was that coach set the fire.
I think it’s a misdirect. Earlier in the episode, we see coach hiding out in Javi’s cave area, and he’s using flint to (unsuccessfully) start a fire. He takes the matches and supplies bc this man can’t start a fire!!
What happened when Laura Lee tried to escape using the plane? Her teddy bear burst into flames, taking the plane down. We know that the wilderness can spontaneously combust things, and that fire? The cabin was covered in snow. It was wet wood, damp at the very least. We see the fire spread to completely engulf the cabin in a matter of minutes. Maybe it’s tv magic, but fire doesn’t spread that fast on wet wood.
There’s spirituality and there’s survival. Lottie taught them how to listen. The cabin taught them how to survive. They don’t need the cabin now like they used to, the same way they don’t need Lottie like they used to.

yknow ive been thinking about yellowjackets a lot the past few days since catching up, and theres this thought thats been nagging my mind a little bit. its part of the reason i think they might start eating eachother more soon.
the group rlly lucked out finding that gun so early, and how theres a huge amount of ammo stockpiled in the house for it. but i mean, its been months at this point. eventually, theyre gonna run out of bullets, and itll be a lot harder to hunt a wolf or a moose or a bear (for most ppl cough cough lottie) with just a hunting knife.
i feel like were gonna start seeing more scenes like that first scene of the show, hunting their teammates. i also definitely think that necklace around the girls neck whos running in that scene is also very symbolic, likely what they use to show who is going to be hunted.
i just think theres a good chance theyre gonna start running out of bullets rlly soon, and theyll have to get more clever with their strategies for killing

Coach Ben and Jeff are on opposite ends of a spectrum, as in they're both totally normal chill dudes stuck with only the craziest of crazy girls for company, but whilst Jeff revels in his wife's felonies, Coach tries to kill them with fire
