Happy two years to my first Kirby OC, Aeon Caldera! She's come quite some ways from when I first drew her, and I'm still blown away by the amount of love and support for her!

Notes on Personality (optional, but preferred!):

Hopea is a clever kitten that cares very deeply about her family, friends and even random strangers she passes by, though she has an unsatisfied wanderlust that she can't seem to shake off.

Backstory and Lore (optional):

To simplify, Hopea is a chimera based off the sphinx from mythology, and was created by a madman after rising from the dead. Before any of his experiments or ambitions could be satisfied, he was killed, and Hopea was adopted by King Dedede and Meta Knight under a contract from Morpho Knight. Hopea lives as the Princess and Crown Heiress of Dreamland, and is slowly learning her powers of telepathy, pyrokenisis, telekinesis, and so on.

However, Hopea has experienced dark days that follow her, though unrelated to the scientist who created her. A Dark Matter Invasion had resulted in Hopea becoming deeply afraid of the dark. Not long after this, she had a few encounters with a certain medical practitioner, and is now deeply afraid of doctors and hospitals as a result.

Welcome to the Kirby OC Tournament!

the oc tournament is back again this year, and will be hosted by @starflungwaddledee and @moonverc3x!

this is a fun and friendly popularity contest for kirby-verse original character designs and their associated stories or lore. competitors can submit their characters to the competition during the submission period, after which characters will be matched randomly together in public polls for voting!

there will also be a losers bracket, to allow folks voted out early to continue playing and participating in the contest. polls are open for anyone, competitors and spectators alike!

in between each match-up bracket, competitors can create artwork "propaganda" for their characters which will be shared to the blog! getting your character in front of voters will help to recognise and care about them, and can increase your chances of getting votes-- as well as new fans for your OC!

submissions open: april 8th see below for how to submit your oc! submissions close: april 30th brackets announced: may 5th voting begins: may 7th bracket length: 1 week break length: 1 week each voting bracket will last One Week with public tumblr polls on the @kirbyoctournament blog. there will be a week between polls to give competitors time to draw up additional propaganda! depending on the size of the first bracket in particular, poll posts may be staggered over several days. if this happens, the break week will begin after the final poll closes.

Submissions are currently open and will close on April 30th. to submit your oc (only one oc allowed per participant!!), simply make a post on your own blog introducing your character with art and/or any lore you'd like to include! make sure to tag the @kirbyoctournament in your post (please do not submit via the ask box.) despite being an oc centric event, you can include canon characters in your OC backstory and propaganda. here is a template for submissions, but this is just a guide and you can deviate from it as necessary! if you want to write a lot of text, consider putting it under a 'read more'! General Maisie Knight has a bit of a deep voice, mostly because she couldn't imagine herself with having a higher tone voice, and also because her wife, Floret, said her voice was lovely as it was.

Also, she's pretty open about being trans, and no one, regardless of if they are/were in the GSA or were civilians, has/had any problems with it. If they do, well, they know to not voice it.

💭 THOUGHT BALLOON — what is your oc's MBTI, enneagram, and/or other personality aspects (if known/interested in)?

I actually had to quickly do the test for Hopea just so I could answer this lol

With the results from that test, Hopea is an INFP-T, which isn't too surprising to me, because I believe that that's roughly what I am as well.

One interesting thing about Hopea and her personality that I want to share regardless is that she's very cozy and likes being in Dreamland with how peaceful it often is, but learns pretty early that she's a bit sheltered and wants to explore, but Dedede's anxiety for her safety ends up with her staying in Dreamland, although she's free to go wherever she wants in Dreamland so long as he knows.
