Frozen II

Frozen II is my son’s favourite movie. The animation is spectacular. Great video from Insider detailing innovations in animation from Frozen to Frozen II. What appealed to me most was the detailing in the costumes, the waves of the Black Sea, movement of hair and the animation of Gale, the wind. The animators went to locations and experienced things like skydiving for the wind effects, standing on glaciers etc. It was interesting that the animators had to pull back on some areas, like the waves, so that it was not too realistic and had to maintain the animated feel. Visually stunning animation.

Scott-Chimileski_Bacillus-mycoides spiral migration. Another gif by Scott Chimileski showing the growth of a microbe. The GiF format is really useful for showing the pattern of growth.

I shot this video of an aquarium and the lighting makes it surreal. The eel and shark were very obliging by not moving much except gills and mouths. I am happy with the triangular composition of shark, coral and eel.

The gentle breeze over water. I like the composition of this one. We see the flowers in the reflection only and the slight movement of water. The silver grey works well with the brown of the table top and I like the contrasting shapes. Its bold yet gentle and subtle. I would have liked to tighten up the composition a little on the RHS.

I like the idea of a never ending train when I took this video. The train did take over a minute to pass. I like the way the fade transition effect has worked on this one.  The train is a dominating element in this landscape - a lots of rectangular metal going at speed.  I chose to video this scene with the train in distance and a large foreground to lesson the impact of the train.

Harbour ripples. I like the dramatic clouds and the reflection in the water. The sky and sea dominate the boats in the harbour, it adds a bit of quiet drama.

This is my first go at a cinemagraph. The transition has a little bump which I want to fix. It was hard to match the gondolas. I tried to bit a bit ‘photographic’ in the composition when I took the video, with the wheel dominating the side and large expanse of blue sky.
