I think he knew Ani needed help but also had enough self-respect and experience of self-destructive loved ones that he knew there was no point in helping someone who who wouldn’t accept his help. I’d like to think he has a strong backbone and decided it was on Ani to decide what she would want.

I'm wondering about the 1st chapter though, why was Igor acting so over it when she hadn't asked him to show up? I get him being annoyed in Chapter 2 when she was clearly trying to get a rise out of him, but he just turned up at first.

Also I'd love to know what was going through his mind during Chapter 3. Was he thinking about her at all, did he consider seeing her again?

i just headcanon igor as someone with a bit of an anxious impatience. he showed up to see ani and could tell she was being stubborn and an asshole to keep him at an arm’s length. but then again, he also knows that they did sort of have sex just weeks prior in his car after ani had her breakdown. to him, he’s sort of offering her an out — like ”ok, freeze your ass off, i’ll fuck off if that’s what you really want.”

but on that moment he also offered ani the chance to talk to him on her own terms. so him being frustrated was really a lot about him being unsure how to proceed and anxious about her hostile attitude. so he tosses the ball to ani. she’s rude to him, he’s rude to her, but beneath it he’s just giving her the choice on whether she wants to talk to him or not.

he definitely thought about her a lot! i sort of hinted at that when he immediately picked up the phone when ani eventually called. i sorta imagined him almost waiting by the phone, worried for her and missing her. i could see him head whipping around when a black-haired girl goes by only to be disappointed when the sun hits her hair and there’s no familiar red tinsel there. 🥹
