WTW PRESENTS OUR 47TH EVENT!
For the month of February, we will be opening up our inbox to let writeblrs anonymously (or not!) send in appreciation letters to their favorite writeblrs through the blog and encouraging everyone to send in asks directly to your favorites.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Throughout the ENTIRETY OF FEBRUARY we hope you all will make use of WelcomeToWriteblr’s reach to shoutout your favorite blogs that you think deserve some spotlight and appreciation. These blogs can be your friends, your favorite writer, or even your favorite meme provider. As long as they are a writeblr—feel free to shout them out in our ask box! You're also free to submit multiple letters throughout the month, but remember that you can fit multiple blogs into one message. And don’t hold back your gushing! The whole point of this event is to share your appreciation, whether you do it anonymously or not. We hope you all take advantage of this event and we look forward to sharing your favorite blogs with everyone! 💘
GUIDELINES
Please don’t spam our ask box with the same exact message.
Be kind to every creator in your submission.
Hateful messages will be deleted.
NSFW content will not be posted to the blog.
Please be patient! We cannot predict how many submissions we will get, but it will take us time to answer them all regardless.
Appreciation letters will not be accepted after the END OF FEBRUARY, so get them in while you can.
But most importantly: don’t shoutout yourself! Spread the love!
XOXO, JOIN OUR SERVER HERE! (discord.gg/earlgrey)

Starting APRIL 1ST, it’s up to you to write as many words for Camp Nano as you can!
EVENT RULES AND DETAILS
With our upcoming event we have had many people join our Discord server. This is the perfect time for us to release our FAQ about how we deal with events and such inside of them. If you are participating, please read through this!
THE SERVER
We have a leveling system in our server. The more you talk, the more you level up. We will kick people from the event if you have yet to reach CROOK aka LVL 5 as it is extremely easy to reach. All you have to do is talk. This is non-negotiable. CROOK is reachable within a day.
You must also give yourself roles from the role menu when you join! If you need help just ask a leader or mod. You will be also be kicked if you do not do this. We only require AGE and PRONOUNS. Other roles beside these DO NOT COUNT! Please do not join and not give yourself roles!
JOINING ONCE THE EVENT HAS STARTED
Please try and join before APRIL 1ST. Anyone who joins a week late (APRIL 8TH) will not be accepted into the event. You must be active. We will be more lenient with the level rule if you have just joined but if you continue to not be active and haven’t reached common within a week you will likely be kicked from the event.
HOW IT WORKS
Most of the information is contained within the document accessible within the server's event channels. Rather than word count, the leaderboard will be based upon the PERCENTAGE of how close you get to your word goal. Anyone who reaches their word count before the final few days will be asked to increase their goal to make it fair for slower writers. Please do not hesitate to speak or join the server. We are extremely welcoming and active, but if you cannot respect our rules then you cannot participate in our events.

poetry outlets that support a free palestine
after finding out that the poetry foundation/POETRY magazine pulled a piece that discussed anti-zionism because they "don't want to pick a side" during the current genocide, i decided to put together a list of online outlets who are explicitly in solidarity with palestine where you can read (english-language) poetry, including, except where otherwise stated, by palestinian poets!
my criteria for this is not simply that they have published palestinian poets or pro-palestine statements in the past; i only chose outlets that, since october 7, 2023, have done one of the following:
published a solidarity statement against israeli occupation & genocide
signed onto the open letter for writers against the war on gaza and/or the open letter boycotting the poetry foundation
published content that is explicitly pro-palestine or anti-zionist, including poetry that explicitly deals with israeli occupation & genocide
shared posts that are pro-palestine on their social media accounts
fyi this is undoubtedly a very small sample. also some of these sites primarily feature nonfiction or short stories, but they do all publish poetry.
outlets that focus entirely on palestinian or SWANA (southwest asia and north africa) literature
we are not numbers, a palestinian youth-led project to write about palestinian lives
arab lit, a magazine for arabic literature in translation that is run by a crowd-funded collective
sumuo, an arab magazine, platform, and community (they appear to have a forthcoming palestine special print issue edited by leena aboutaleb and zaina alsous)
mizna, a platform for contemporary SWANA (southwest asian & north africa) lit, film, and art
the markaz review, a literary arts publication and cultural institution that curates content and programs on the greater middle east and communities in diaspora
online magazines who have published special issues of all palestinian writers (and all of them publish palestinian poets in their regular issues too)
fiyah literary magazine in december 2021, edited by nadia shammas and summer farah (if you have $6 usd to spare, proceeds from the e-book go to medical aid for palestinians)
strange horizons in march 2021, edited by rasha abdulhadi
the baffler in june 2021, curated by poet/translators fady joudah & lena khalaf tuffaha
the markaz review has two palestine-specific issues, on gaza and on palestinians in israel, currently free to download
literary hub featured palestinian poets in 2018 for the anniversary of the 1948 nakba
adi magazine, who have shifted their current (october 2023) issue to be all palestinian writers
outlets that generally seem to be pro-palestine/publish pro-palestine pieces and palestinian poetry
protean magazine (here's their solidarity statement)
poetry online (offering no-fee submissions to palestinian writers)
sundog lit (offering no-fee submissions to palestinian writers through december 1, 2023)
guernica magazine (here's a twitter thread of palestinian poetry they've published)
split this rock (here's their solidarity statement)
the margins by the asian-american writers' workshop
the offing magazine
rusted radishes
voicemail poems
jewish currents
the drift magazine
asymptote
the poetry project
ctrl + v journal
the funambulist magazine
n+1 magazine (signed onto the open letter and they have many pro-palestine articles, but i'm not sure if they have published palestinian poets specifically)
hammer & hope (signed onto the letter but they are a new magazine only on their second issue and don't appear to have published any palestinian poets yet)
if you know others, please add them on!

CHERRI RETURN ERA!!!!
writeblr re-introduction !
about me —
cherri (she/they)
18, currently freshman uni student. (what am i majoring in? love to answer that for you, but i can't.)
i've been on writeblr before, and i usually fade in-and-out as i work on my wips and set them down and pick 'em back up and such!
about writing —
characters typically get the cherri special (i will figure out a way to get them to die and Come Back Wrong)
urban fantasy, fantasy + dystopian are my favorite genres to read and write !!
morally gray characters + the "came back wrong" trope + "fighting a losing war" have a death-grip on me, it's true.
my main wip —
the disinformation age (young adult, urban fantasy, enemies to lovers)
operative nickei nines, an invaluable member of the a.r.c. initiative, dies after a city-wide black-out caused by an anarchist rogue goes too far. one year later, nickei is back — and there is manufactured, state-sponsored war on the way. no one anticipates the anarchist coming quietly, held on a tight-leash by the man he murdered. nickei is not anticipating the a.r.c. initiative's solution to their rebellion problem: using ren as an example of a rehabilitation problem, rejoining the ranks he'd left so long ago.
i'm looking to get back into writeblr !! the community and atmosphere was so fun and i miss it <3 and there are so many wips i miss hearing abt and certainly some super cool ones in the works that i haven't heard abt at all !!

Got a terf in my sideblog and the reply is not worth deigning with a response but the pinned post?
This? This is a trap. This is concern baiting. Be very sure that shit like this is not in your best interest and does not care about you. The goal of rhetoric like this is conversion.
You’ll be welcomed and asked to ignore transphobia. You will be asked to side with transphobes at the expense of trans women. Eventually, you’ll be asked to see that, hey, maybe you transitioned to escape how terrible it is to be a woman?
This may seem obviously a trap but I see people every day buy into this. People like this do not care about you! They want to “rescue” you and don’t let them convince you otherwise.

mental health tip
try reframing your negative comments about yourself in a positive light. for example, instead of "i'm gross", try thinking, "people who are into gross women would love me".
