i’m a simple man. i think about dora and jean as old hat, once beloved by harry and now both fully knocked off their pedestals, and how dora is gone and living her own life but jean’s still there, watching himself be replaced with the shiny new toy who’s yet to go through the Harrier Du Bois Addiction Gauntlet. someone he respects and admires as a lieutenant in the RCM. take his place, be held above him as “cooler” by a partner who can’t even remember who he is. and fall for it! from jean’s perspective kim must seem like the biggest sucker in the entire world for believing harry will stay sober and get his shit together. so now he’s faced with two distinct and equally terrible ideas: either he’s right, and harry is about to ruin kim’s life and drag down one of the rcm’s finest, or kim is right. and if kim is right that means jean gave up on harry when he really could change. no, actually, it’s worse. it means jean wasn’t worth getting better for. but kim is.
