Look, if Brennan didn't want chaos at the table he wouldn't have answered Ally/Kristen's "Are you smoking a Juul?" with "Actually, it's crystal meth," and he would have let Emily's ridiculous tea setup go without adding in the bit about the matcha ceremony. He was fully escalating the ridiculousness along with the others, including when Ally made fifty offers along the way to deescalate instead.

Put another way: I would be moderately surprised if Brennan didn't realize that giving Kristen four shots at Divine Intervention made it essentially a coin-flip, because he's always running the numbers like that. What that spell did for him as a DM was move the party to the next phase of the fight now that the major dragons were down, save the time and logistics of steering the ship to Elmville, and give him a good wrap-up point for the episode. If he wanted it to go some other way, he could have done that; Divine Intervention is a DM's magic wand as much as it's anything else.

If that's not srs business enough for you, consider that a) this is the improv comedian liveplay show, and b) we haven't even gotten to the fight against our actual season antagonists yet.
