5. How do you know when you’re finished writing a fic? At what point do you call it done?

i am very much a perfectionist when it comes to writing stuff, in that if i'm not 100% happy with something i will spend days/weeks agonizing over it and debating what i can change to make myself happy with it. unfortunately when i give into this urge it means i will spend days/weeks editing the same paragraph over and over until i become increasingly less happy with it and then not wanna post at all HAHA.

i've managed to reach a happy medium of like, a couple rounds of edits where i let myself do a little agonizing but not too much. when i feel like i've concluded a plot to my liking i usually do one round of what are functionally copyedits (ie. changing any lines/dialogue/etc I don't like when I read through, fixing any placeholder bits I put in when I couldn't think of a transition or word I wanted, making sure it's actually coherent), and then two rounds of grammatical edits (proofreading & then proofreading to make sure i don't have a typo in those edits, lmao). and THEN I read through final more time just in case. (....and then read through again for any final errors in the AO3 draft 😭) if I do anything more than that I fear the fic will never see the light of day

25. Someone you know outside of fandom has heard that you’re a writer. “I’d like to read something of yours!” they say with sincere enthusiasm. “Where can I find it?” What’s your answer?

i have this problem where when i'm meeting someone new i for some reason list creative writing as hobby and then immediately get hit with this question, because, like, duh.

ANYWAY this one totally depends on the context. if they seem Online enough or we've been friends for a while i just straight up say it's fanfiction and we pass a wordless understanding. if they don't/if i don't really know them very well and don't want to bare my soul just yet/if it's god forbid a family member i usually just say i've sadly been too busy to write much these days. honestly i'm kind of shy about my writing and get really embarrassed sharing anything I write with anyone outside of the general anonymity of fandom hahahahaha

anyway shout out to my two college besties who are for some reason still subscribed to my AO3 after (young, carefree) we swapped usernames in like 2016 and have to see me regularly post pornography about the pacific rim scientists in addition to putting up with my texts about them AND humoring me when I forced them to watch the movie with me twice 😔🙏 🙏 i think they still follow me on here. hi sarah and rachel if you're reading this

This fan folks is for folks who would want to participate in a fandom big bang dedicated to Newt/Hermann, the pairing from the ever classic film Pacific Rim (2013). The only restriction is that works for this should focus on the relationship between these two characters as a primary or major focus- romantic, sexual, and platonic interpretations are all allowed as well as any combination of the three. What is a Big Bang? You can find a good overview on fanlore here. The short of it is, it's an event to create a flurry of new content for a fandom by pairing writers and artists together to create something wonderful. The first step is for fic writers to create fanfictions related to the topic and then pair them up with artists who create artwork for the piece. Typically, these are longer works and the entire process takes several months from start to finish.

Are you ever planning on drawing more of your Newmann Subnautica au... that was like a crazy autism crossover... I have the one of them in the Creepvine as my desktop wallpaper (it's gorgeous)

Here's something I'd started and more or less finished:

I had this idea that Hermann would probably get tired and sore much faster than Newton because of his leg, so he'd figure out how to hack the PDA and make new blueprints for the fabricator.

Newton proposed that he just stay in the habitat, but Hermann got pissed off, because he was scared that something might happen if Newt goes on too many solo missions. Once they start going deeper he's fine with waiting in the Seamoth while Newt explores a bit, because that way he can keep an eye on the sonar and swoop in in case of danger.
